I was gettin it on couple weeks ago with these two chicks I know and at one point I told em, "Woo, Im just like Bon Scott!" Younger one had never heard of him; older one had but didnt like his voice....oh well, I aint hangin' with em for their musical tastes anyway! He'dve laughed at my meager scene; he was known for lining up TEN chicks on the beds waiting their turn...
I'm not sure how many American shows that Bon did, but I was lucky enough to see him, with AC/DC opening for Aerosmith at Memorial Coliseum in Portland in 1979. They blew Aerosmith off the stage!
Damn! I saw Aerosmith there in 1974. Still have my ticket stub. I'm not sure Bon was the greatest rock front man but he was in the small exclusive club that I tend to debate myself over Bon and Jim Morrison. One undisputable fact is Bon's talent for writing lyrics. Outright master of the double entendre nobody wrote the raunchy, catchy prose like Bon, not even Morrison who was more of a rock poet and shaman. I would have loved for Bon to have lived on. J.M. too but rock gods are like super novas. Trying to cram as much living into their few years in rock as if they knew an early exit was on the itinerary. I'm sure the entire band is loaded on H in the documentary Let There Be Rock as they have retreated to their trailer looking blasted in one of two similar scenes.

I saw them open for Journey in Phoenix. Bon carried Angus around the floor of the old Memorial Collusem on his shoulders surrounded by security and Angus playing guitar. It was epic!

Wait a minute! Is that when they were doing a video shoot for the song:"It's a long way to the top, if ya wanna Rock 'n' Roll? I saw at least two video versions of that song, and I'm thinking that you may be referring to the version that was shot in Melbourne back in the middle 1970s. The other video that I saw for that song was on a TV program. (I forget the name of the program). Bon Scott, with his vocals and his Bagpipes, made that song absolutely crackle with energy in both videos! WOW!!!

Scott was involved with a number of shady characters in the London night scene, something that did not sit well with Malcolm Young, but Malcolm chose to look the other way instead.

Conspiracy theories abound about this guys death. All I know is this: As a fourteen year old kid in 1979 Bon was my rock-n-roll hero. I have my version of what happened to him but I keep it to myself. In the end we all lost one helluva talented guy. I’ll tell you all what hurts me the most about his death is that he was one of us. So many others get a chance to be on stage and they put up walls between themselves and the audience, Bon first and foremost wanted to take us all along for the glorious sweet ride that he’d waited and dreamt about for so long to experience. Both Bon and Bonham's deaths absolutely shattered me. I'm an old bat as well, as I still remember hearing about them the day they happened. I saw Bon in concert the year before and was due to see Bonham in a few months had he lived.😢
Bon was incredible. Sad to say I was born in 92, so never got to see him live. But I managed to catch AC/DC back in 2010 and it was awesome. And to counter your point a bit, Angus Young is absolutely incredible as a lead guitarist. Sick riffs. Amazing energy. Always puts on a show. Glad he's still around and kicking. Wish he still had Malcolm, though...
And it's rather strange and bit peculiar that other than offering praise in interviews, AC/DC has remained very tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding Scotts passing.
The reason why Bon Scott's death is being revisited is because of the immense contribution he and AC/DC made to the lives of their fans. Even 40 years later I cannot imagine how someone helping provide such an intoxicating arrangement of rock n roll perished under avoidable circumstances.
Hell I was gonna make the same nitpick, but it's warranted. Its not just the cover that's different, the entire track listing is different. It is a completely different album. You're probably a fan enough to already know this but for anyone else reading the replies, the international release only had 2 songs from the original High Voltage & the rest were from the TNT album.
I recently saw an interview with Ozzy Osbourne and he said Bon didn't die from alcohol directly but from hypothermia after passing out drunk in his car on a frigid night.
That's exactly what I heard, right after Bon died, either in a magazine or a newspaper. They mentioned alcohol poisoning, but put his actual death down to hypothermia.
Remember their are people who get offended over a statue so a dog pissing on a electricity sup-station would give the sensitive little 30 year old a heartattack
Man. I learned about Bon Scott and his death when I was just a kid, some time around the mid 90's. I still haven't gotten over it, and probably never will.
I remember reading that AC/DC comic as a kid. It’s the first band I listened to as a kid. I grew up in a household that listened to nothing but AC/DC and everything else related. It’s still all listen to. But the part in the comic that showed bon Scott dead in the backseat of that car, always will be stuck in my mind. Sad most definitely but I always wondered what else there was to it.
In this case, life tragically imitated art. The whole Bon Scott death case, with the different reports that are now surfacing, seems to be pointing to a different death scenario than what we were first told, way back in 1980. The "official" story sounds like a cover story to me. I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one with that opinion. That being said, though, I'll just say that it's only my opinion, until I know more about what really happened. Only God truly knows...
I am a big fan of AC/DC both Bon Scott's era and Brian Johnson's Saw them in New Zealand where I live in 1991. I don't believe for one second, that the members of AC/DC wanted him to die, what a sick rumour. Very interesting, though I'm glad though I waited for daytime, to play this though. RIP, Bon and Malcolm.
I've always wondered how Back In Black would have turned out with Bon singing on it. He was the best singer that I have ever heard!!!! He put so much emotion and raw power to those AC/DC songs its unbelievable. He was a great lyricist who's songs sucked you right in and made you feel like you were listening to an audiobook. R.I.P. They played at my High School in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne in 1976. The school ended up with a bad reputation after that night for the next 20 years. What a night!
My first intro to AC/DC was when I was really young and my family was on a road trip. We stopped at a hotel for the night and a commercial kept playing that promoted their Highway to Hell tour. I've never since seen a commercial advertising a bands tour.

I used to binge regularly in my younger days and swear I could've and should've died a few times. I've spent days in bed after a binge vomiting with massive headaches and unable to eat or drink anything. There's times I had no memory of how I got home. It's not a way of life. It's a way of death. Jesus Christ saved me from that 20 years ago and I haven't been drunk since. I haven't even touched alcohol in 15 years. God is good. Without Him, I probably wouldn't be here to write this now.
Even a heavy drinker’s body has a limit. The combination of being unconscious and expelling stomach contents can be deadly. Did they run a toxicology report to see if heroin was in his system?
It's never been brought up, but he was partying with members of UFO that night. Specifically, UFO bassist Pete Way. Who was a known user of heroin. The official report stated "Death by misadventure", which I find rather vague and somewhat peculiar in its terms.
For some reason, there are no official records pertaining to Scotts death. (!) And the official death certificate has been sealed by the courts. Does AC/DC s lawyers now hold possession of the official paperwork and records?
Bon Scott had this Ora around him. Like in the music videos you can see he's a hard person to hate. Lyrics like It wasn't the first It wasn't the last It wasn't that she didn't care She wanted it hard And wanted it fast She liked it done medium rare Bon was being dirty and gritty and he was respectful when he talked about women. He basically was saying “Shes a freak, but I love that freak” I would have loved to meet him. Seems like a guy with a great sense of humor. It's too bad he was taken from us so soon.
Nothing against Johnson, but after Bon Scott died, AC/DC just wasn't as good. The Bon Scott material will always be the band at their best, in my opinion.
@@t.sewell1513 Yes, I had those 2 albums. I think that I bought them when they were released, so I was age 11 for "Back In Black" & 12 for "Those About To Rock...." I remember my dad chuckling upon seeing the title " For Those About To Rock...." , he then explained the salute from the Roman Games that the title was taken from. After those two albums, the band kind of got repetitive for me. I mean , how many songs can have the words "Rock" or " Rock n Roll" in the title before it gets repetitive? Also, I think that the Aussie theme of the band was kind of lost when Johnson joined the band. Having a frontman from the UK , made the group far less Colonial. That's just my take on things. I'm sure that some people would disagree with me. Variety is the spice of life, my friends.
Weird. After reading a few AC/DC books, even I started to see inconsistencies in the story. It's noteworthy to say that Bon had a hard time making Highway to Hell and had to re-write most of the songs because his lyrics were deemed "not good enough". While, his being taken out has passed through my noggin, I also hypothesized that he possibly faked his death. It sucks that we may never know.
Thank you for doing a video like this, I always felt like Bon was underrated as a singer IMHO. Imagine what Back in Black would have sounded like with his vocals! Just really sad... an amazing man gone way too soon.
Ozzy said that he Bonn died of hypothermia because he was unconscious in that car all night during the winter time. So he basically froze to death. The temperature the night of his death was not freezing condition,it was in fact impossible for him to die from hypothermia.This has been debunked by simple research and Ozzy just repeating what he heard.All the facts point to a heroin overdose ,Bon was not an addict but he was known to use smack on occasion ..Mark Evans himself said Bon was nearly kicked out of the band for an overdose in 1976.

@The Man With No Name walkers book is old and his research turned out to be lacking ,he even debated the existence of Kinnear at one point claiming him and Joe Fury were the same person ...Kinnear wasn't the only person in his flat that either ,others have since come forward who were there.They also basically say Bon was stoned at the music machine,the inference meaning he was on smack.How does a seasoned drinker like Bon die from alcohol poisoning when on all accounts he didn't drink anymore than usual that night.I don't buy that alcohol poisoning thing at all Given the fact that he was surrounded by users that night including the guys from UFO who said over a decade ago it was heroin it's quite obvious he skipped up
"You shook me all night long" always sounded like a Bon line to me and not a Brian lyric. Then again would they really honor their fallen band mate and then steal his lyrics? Only AC/DC knows.
"Shook Me" is 100% a Brian Johnson song. I've heard about the girlfriend who claims to have seen the lyrics in Bon's notebook before. She's full of shit, just looking for her 15 minutes in the spotlight. Brian wrote several songs in the 80s with lines about "shaking" (brain shake, shake your foundations, nervous shakedown, and even shake a leg on the same album as shook me all night long) as well as adding some ad libbed lines in later songs (shake baby shake at the end of "money made", a direct call back to the Jerry Lee Lewis classic which was a cover of an old blues song). Also, Brian, Angus and Malcolm have all discussed the writing process of the song WITH Brian at the studio in the Bahamas. I'm a huge Bon fan (if you can't tell by my name) but I've never seen any hard proof of Bon's writing being on the BIB album. If you have the proof, I'd be glad to help spread the word, but I'm quite sure it doesn't exist.
@@jeremyhill9583 Go listen to Geordie and tell me Brian Johnson doesn't have the blues deep down in his soul... and if that's not enough, listen to the Ballbreaker album. He may not have written the lyrics, but the way he FEELS those songs when he sings them, there's no denying that Brian is a blues man at heart. You should also listen to "Two's Up", if you're one of those people who think Johnson couldn't write dirty lyrics like Bon. It's about a threesome AND it's one of the bluesiest songs he wrote with AC/DC. Most people overlooked it thinking it was some kind of ballad, but if they'd just read the lyrics they'd realize how wrong they are.

@@livewire2759 the album was already recorded with Bon Scott. After his death, it was rerecorded with Brian Johnson because of the live shows that supports the album.
Neglect and disrespect are what killed Bon. He should have had a buddy with him, not some random friend of a friend who would simply wimp out and leave him in a car - no matter his condition or what he was or wasn't ''on''. All of the people associated with his death should be ashamed, none of their actions are excusable. He was a nice guy and a supremely influential artist that deserved better company than rogue flippant English barfly twits.

A couple of thoughts: 1) Bon did struggle with Heroin. He overdosed in the mid 70s, missed a gig and almost got the boot from the band, but got read the riot act instead. He did his best to hide his use afterwards. Being seen as a 'drunk' was much more acceptable than being a known junkie in those days. 2) Take another look at the lyrics to 'Gone Shootin' (I stirred my coffee with the same spoon) 3) Bon had an unrequited love for Silver Smith. (Who would turn Bon down? Silver Smith apparently) She was also his heroin dealer, and a user herself. Bon was pursuing her again around the time that he died. 4) The guys in UFO (mainly Pete Way) toured with Bon and confirmed that he used heroin and was out looking for more the night he died. 5) I think that it's pretty obvious that most of the words on 'Back in Black' were Bon's. Brian Johnson sang the hell out of them, though. Bon's my favorite R&R singer, but I don't think that anyone could have performed that record better than Brian Johnson did. He crushed it, and absolutely deserves every bit of respect and credit he gets for launching the band into the stratosphere. 6) Early AC/DC had strong lyrics, right up through 'Back In Black'. That's Bon. Read the lyrics to the 'Powerage' record, then read the lyrics for 'Ballbreaker'. I still love AC/DC, but their lyrics are best hidden these days.

Don't like pointing fingers at anyone but surely that dude Kinnear could've carried or dragged Bon into the house that nite, Bon was small of stature an weight.
You should do a video about the deaths of the two X Japan members Hide and Taiji. There's lots of speculation still going on about the latter and Hide's passing was really tragic too. Their vocalist also got brainwashed by a cult.
I partied with Bon Scott and the band on their first US tour wen they played at a apartment complex in San Jose CA back in the 1976 time frame. They were drinking Jack Daniels Green Label, about all I remember.
LOVE AC/DC, and Brian Johnson seems like an awesome guy, and of course Back In Black is a classic record...but for sure that band lost some balls and blues when Bon sadly passed away. They never had songs like Riff Raff, or What's Next to The Moon again.
Seen them on Dec 1,79 in Ludwigshafen ,Germany . Judas Priest opened. Great show . Bf went for Priest,I went for ACDC, and we both liked both afterwards 👍 Was so shocked when I heard about Bon just weeks later 😢
I've read Jessie Fink's book on Bon, highly recommended. Bon wrote the lyrics on at least several BIB tracks, it's undeniable. He had just finished writing the album, and being as much pressure as there was on him to do that at the time, he was celebrating that right before he died. I love Brian Johnson, but he didn't write most of the lyrics on that record - was already done. Someone took Bon's lyrics notebook, easy to guess who. I don't blame them, the songs were done, and AC/DC admittedly paid Bon's family a significant sum when BIB took off, as a gesture. Or to ease guilty consciences? And look at Johnson's lyrics in Geordie, and then from FTATR onward - not the same at all.
Reuben Kincaid I have heard a bootleg with some tracks from "Dirty Deeds..."and a couple from "BIB",specifically the songs;"Have a Drink On Me"and "What Do YA Do 4 Money,Honey". The sound quality is just shit,lacks the punch and polish of ,at least mixed once.Vocals are muddy and get lost in the recording ,however,U can clearly tell it is indeed,Bon Scott. I was absolutely mindfucked ,after I listened to this cassette.I had a friend who was from Oz, and he said he got it from his friend,who was a roadie for the band. I heard this cassette back in '86 and I asked him if his roadie friend,told him how he got a tape of the "blended album tracks "?He didn't know shit and was a heavy drinker,with plenty of miles on him at 35 years old. I don't know how the fuck,but it was 3 DD tracks and 2 BIB tracks ,with some talking between tracks and beer bottles clinking,like "live first takes". I don't know,but I know it was Bon Scott 💯 %!!

The track BIB was about success/money (in the black vs the red), and Bon wrote it. And he also wrote Have a Drink, WDYDFM, Shoot to Thrill, and You Shook Me. At least. I knew these recordings existed - he was working on the songs with the band right before his death. So thank you again for confirming independently what no one else will/can.
Wow..Im a Metal head for 35 years..Never knew any of these details about Bon...and yea,given the normal recording process and record release for big bands,Bon HAD to have contributed to the BACK IN BLACK album...It was released 5 months after his death? Hell woulda took 2-3 of those months just to print the first million copies back then for release !

The Only Ones were very important in The Replacements history- their manager had the whole scene listening to their LPs. You'd hear them all the time. And you could hear it in Paul Westerberg- an American version. That was one influence.
Another thing to note here Is that if anyone had any common sense They’d have carried Bon out of the car and inside Not leave him there firstly unsupervised and secondly in the freezing cold I’m not disputing the fact that he could well have died from the cold and alcohol poisoning but even that doesn’t add up
it is messed up & Sad, BUT to carry Bon upstairs would have been not easy, not like Bon was over weight But to carry a full grown man? it would have been interesting to see what happened if Bon Lived & was on Back in Black or the 1980 Album.

@@df5295 yes that doesn’t add up I mean the fact that Bon was found in a different position to the one his friend claimed he was in before he’s found a few hours later in a position where he could easily have choked on his own vomit Not to mention he had asthma now on one hand you could argue that laying in your back can lead to choking but not all the time and it’s worth noting that the second friend could have very easily came along and moved Bon in a different position and could claim if questiond that Bon must have Somehow woken up and shifted to a different position
I idolized Bon as a youngster. Feeling misplaced and jaded. Bon made me realize being yourself is the best policy. I've waited for atleast a year for something like this. Now, I watch the video. Lol

A really well put together video. Thanks. I'm 52yrs and remember listening to Highway To Hell and Let There Be Rock on an old record player growing up in rural Devon. Of course Bon Scott era AC/DC was the best of them and I reckon they should have retired after Blow Up Your Video. R.I.P. Bon Scott.
I found out, a few years back after I moved back to the States after 5 years living in London, that I had been living only a short walk from where he died. I was in Forest Hill and had friends who lived on Overhill Rd...I wish I would have known... Oh, and it reminds me of the time I saw Foo Fighters at Wembley stadium while I was in London....and then found (years later) that the following night, Jimmy Page had come out and played a whole set with them... Fricking dang it!.....
His voice wasn't the most clean and his range not the widest. However, he was raw and real in his execution. He may not be the objective best, but he lit alot of our hearts on fire and, as for me, he always will. Opinions are opinions. His talent was real.

Bon died in February, Bonzo died in September, then John Lennon is murdered in December. On top of all that, my girlfriend passed away from cystic fibrosis in April at only 20 years old. 1980 f#@%ing sucked for me.
This videos shows two photos of Alistar Kinnear. One, in sun glasses, which was attached to a german newspaper article about Bons death, and Alistair had given them an interview at the time, and a photo of himself. The other photo of Alistair Kinnear was provided to the Herald Sun, by Alistairs son, when Alistair went missing at sea, in 2006, and shows Alistair when he was younger. Its obvious that its not the same man in both photos, and yet they both claim to be the same Alistair Kinnear. Kinnear is now presumed dead, lost at sea, as they never found his body.
Correction; the drummer for the Valentines was Doug Lavery! I played in a band with him for a few years! When the Valentines split' He joined a group called Axiom and was not in Fraternity as you said. That is from him directly.

"You shook me all night long" always gave me a strange feeling, it sounded to me like it's in Bon's style. When I first heard it a "Touch to much" came to me in my mind, this kind of sexual theme that was typical for Bon.
No Back and Black would not have been the album it was with Bon singing it. Sorry but I think the reason AC/DC became the band we all know and love now was because Bon died and Brian Johnson replaced him.
Nothing "mysterious" about Bon's death. He was comatose drunk, and rather than be bothered to carry him into their home, where he could sleep it off in a warm place, his "friends" left him in a car on a freezing night, where he choked on his own vomit while suffering hypothermia.
As big as AC/DC is now, if hadn't died they would have been the greatest band of all time. Bon's song writing skills were above and beyond anything the band released after his death.
Listen to back in black by Bon Scott and Brian Johnson on you tube. I can say that not only does Bon sound better, he doesn’t sound like he’s struggling with vocals. What a shame that idiot left him in the car like that he should of been with someone from the band or a bodyguard not a pack of dead beats. RIP Bon.

I'm not sure how many American shows that Bon did, but I was lucky enough to see him, with AC/DC opening for Aerosmith at Memorial Coliseum in Portland in 1979. They blew Aerosmith off the stage!
Damn! I saw Aerosmith there in 1974. Still have my ticket stub. I'm not sure Bon was the greatest rock front man but he was in the small exclusive club that I tend to debate myself over Bon and Jim Morrison. One undisputable fact is Bon's talent for writing lyrics. Outright master of the double entendre nobody wrote the raunchy, catchy prose like Bon, not even Morrison who was more of a rock poet and shaman. I would have loved for Bon to have lived on. J.M. too but rock gods are like super novas. Trying to cram as much living into their few years in rock as if they knew an early exit was on the itinerary. I'm sure the entire band is loaded on H in the documentary Let There Be Rock as they have retreated to their trailer looking blasted in one of two similar scenes.

I saw them open for Journey in Phoenix. Bon carried Angus around the floor of the old Memorial Collusem on his shoulders surrounded by security and Angus playing guitar. It was epic!

I have my version of what happened to him but I keep it to myself. In the end we all lost one helluva talented guy. I’ll tell you all what hurts me the most about his death is that he was one of us. So many others get a chance to be on stage and they put up walls between themselves and the audience, Bon first and foremost wanted to take us all along for the glorious sweet ride that he’d waited and dreamt about for so long to experience. Both Bon and Bonham's deaths absolutely shattered me. I'm an old bat as well, as I still remember hearing about them the day they happened. I saw Bon in concert the year before and was due to see Bonham in a few months had he lived.😢

The reason why Bon Scott's death is being revisited is because of the immense contribution he and AC/DC made to the lives of their fans. Even 40 years later I cannot imagine how someone helping provide such an intoxicating arrangement of rock n roll perished under avoidable circumstances.

You're probably a fan enough to already know this but for anyone else reading the replies, the international release only had 2 songs from the original High Voltage & the rest were from the TNT album.
They have different songs so different albums technically, and he sounds like an American so that's the album cover he is familiar with most likely
I recently saw an interview with Ozzy Osbourne and he said Bon didn't die from alcohol directly but from hypothermia after passing out drunk in his car on a frigid night.
That's exactly what I heard, right after Bon died, either in a magazine or a newspaper. They mentioned alcohol poisoning, but put his actual death down to hypothermia.

Man. I learned about Bon Scott and his death when I was just a kid, some time around the mid 90's. I still haven't gotten over it, and probably never will.
I remember reading that AC/DC comic as a kid. It’s the first band I listened to as a kid. I grew up in a household that listened to nothing but AC/DC and everything else related. It’s still all listen to. But the part in the comic that showed bon Scott dead in the backseat of that car, always will be stuck in my mind. Sad most definitely but I always wondered what else there was to it.
In this case, life tragically imitated art. The whole Bon Scott death case, with the different reports that are now surfacing, seems to be pointing to a different death scenario than what we were first told, way back in 1980. The "official" story sounds like a cover story to me. I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one with that opinion. That being said, though, I'll just say that it's only my opinion, until I know more about what really happened. Only God truly knows...
The book also mentions the Scott family is still recieving royalties, since he wrote a lot of them and (mysteriously) credited to Young-Johnson-Young.

I am a big fan of AC/DC both Bon Scott's era and Brian Johnson's Saw them in New Zealand where I live in 1991. I don't believe for one second, that the members of AC/DC wanted him to die, what a sick rumour. Very interesting, though I'm glad though I waited for daytime, to play this though. I've always wondered how Back In Black would have turned out with Bon singing on it. He was the best singer that I have ever heard!!!! A few days before he died he walked in a recording studio and listened to the music they wrote for him for their next 1980 album.I always wonder what could have been and how good it would have sounded.
Malcolm even said that the band finished their parts and all that was needed was for Bon to come in and finish it.

They played at my High School in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne in 1976. The school ended up with a bad reputation after that night for the next 20 years. What a night!
My first intro to AC/DC was when I was really young and my family was on a road trip. We stopped at a hotel for the night and a commercial kept playing that promoted their Highway to Hell tour.
I've never since seen a commercial advertising a bands tour.
It's so easy to get alcohol poisoning. When you get that drunk there is no burn . I'm lucky my wife changed me. God bless Bon.

Im with u ive been near death a few times myself after a few day binge i thought i was gone a few times still i go back to it.
I used to binge regularly in my younger days and swear I could've and should've died a few times. I've spent days in bed after a binge vomiting with massive headaches and unable to eat or drink anything. There's times I had no memory of how I got home. It's not a way of life. It's a way of death.
Jesus Christ saved me from that 20 years ago and I haven't been drunk since. I haven't even touched alcohol in 15 years. God is good. Without Him, I probably wouldn't be here to write this now.

Even a heavy drinker’s body has a limit. The combination of being unconscious and expelling stomach contents can be deadly. Did they run a toxicology report to see if heroin was in his system?
It's never been brought up, but he was partying with members of UFO that night. Specifically, UFO bassist Pete Way. Who was a known user of heroin. The official report stated "Death by misadventure", which I find rather vague and somewhat peculiar in its terms.
For some reason, there are no official records pertaining to Scotts death. (!) And the official death certificate has been sealed by the courts. Does AC/DC s lawyers now hold possession of the official paperwork and records?

Nothing against Johnson, but after Bon Scott died, AC/DC just wasn't as good. The Bon Scott material will always be the band at their best, in my opinion.

@@t.sewell1513 Yes, I had those 2 albums. I think that I bought them when they were released, so I was age 11 for "Back In Black" & 12 for "Those About To Rock...." I remember my dad chuckling upon seeing the title " For Those About To Rock...." , he then explained the salute from the Roman Games that the title was taken from. After those two albums, the band kind of got repetitive for me. I mean , how many songs can have the words "Rock" or " Rock n Roll" in the title before it gets repetitive? Also, I think that the Aussie theme of the band was kind of lost when Johnson joined the band. Having a frontman from the UK , made the group far less Colonial. That's just my take on things. I'm sure that some people would disagree with me. Variety is the spice of life, my friends.
I prefer Bonn’s songs, but I think Brian’s voice is better. Some of my favourite AC/DC songs are the live versions of Bon’s songs performed by Brian

Weird. After reading a few AC/DC books, even I started to see inconsistencies in the story. It's noteworthy to say that Bon had a hard time making Highway to Hell and had to re-write most of the songs because his lyrics were deemed "not good enough". While, his being taken out has passed through my noggin, I also hypothesized that he possibly faked his death. It sucks that we may never know.
Thank you for doing a video like this, I always felt like Bon was underrated as a singer IMHO. Imagine what Back in Black would have sounded like with his vocals! Just really sad... an amazing man gone way too soon.

"Shook Me" is 100% a Brian Johnson song. I've heard about the girlfriend who claims to have seen the lyrics in Bon's notebook before. She's full of shit, just looking for her 15 minutes in the spotlight. Brian wrote several songs in the 80s with lines about "shaking" (brain shake, shake your foundations, nervous shakedown, and even shake a leg on the same album as shook me all night long) as well as adding some ad libbed lines in later songs (shake baby shake at the end of "money made", a direct call back to the Jerry Lee Lewis classic which was a cover of an old blues song). Also, Brian, Angus and Malcolm have all discussed the writing process of the song WITH Brian at the studio in the Bahamas. I'm a huge Bon fan (if you can't tell by my name) but I've never seen any hard proof of Bon's writing being on the BIB album. If you have the proof, I'd be glad to help spread the word, but I'm quite sure it doesn't exist.
@@jeremyhill9583 Go listen to Geordie and tell me Brian Johnson doesn't have the blues deep down in his soul... and if that's not enough, listen to the Ballbreaker album. He may not have written the lyrics, but the way he FEELS those songs when he sings them, there's no denying that Brian is a blues man at heart.
You should also listen to "Two's Up", if you're one of those people who think Johnson couldn't write dirty lyrics like Bon. It's about a threesome AND it's one of the bluesiest songs he wrote with AC/DC. Most people overlooked it thinking it was some kind of ballad, but if they'd just read the lyrics they'd realize how wrong they are.
Oh I would never take anything from Brian Johnson I just came home they trying to act like God didn't have anything to do with an album he was working on for 5 months before he died
@@livewire2759 the album was already recorded with Bon Scott. After his death, it was rerecorded with Brian Johnson because of the live shows that supports the album.
Neglect and disrespect are what killed Bon. He should have had a buddy with him, not some random friend of a friend who would simply wimp out and leave him in a car - no matter his condition or what he was or wasn't ''on''. All of the people associated with his death should be ashamed, none of their actions are excusable. He was a nice guy and a supremely influential artist that deserved better company than rogue flippant English barfly twits.
I agree 100. It was descipable and totally preventable. Bon had a vulnerability about him and it really makes me sad he got neglected, or God forbid snuffed out.

A couple of thoughts:
1) Bon did struggle with Heroin. He overdosed in the mid 70s, missed a gig and almost got the boot from the band, but got read the riot act instead. He did his best to hide his use afterwards. Being seen as a 'drunk' was much more acceptable than being a known junkie in those days.
2) Take another look at the lyrics to 'Gone Shootin' (I stirred my coffee with the same spoon)
3) Bon had an unrequited love for Silver Smith. (Who would turn Bon down? Silver Smith apparently) She was also his heroin dealer, and a user herself. Bon was pursuing her again around the time that he died.
4) The guys in UFO (mainly Pete Way) toured with Bon and confirmed that he used heroin and was out looking for more the night he died.
5) I think that it's pretty obvious that most of the words on 'Back in Black' were Bon's. Brian Johnson sang the hell out of them, though. Bon's my favorite R&R singer, but I don't think that anyone could have performed that record better than Brian Johnson did. He crushed it, and absolutely deserves every bit of respect and credit he gets for launching the band into the stratosphere.
6) Early AC/DC had strong lyrics, right up through 'Back In Black'. That's Bon. Read the lyrics to the 'Powerage' record, then read the lyrics for 'Ballbreaker'. I still love AC/DC, but their lyrics are best hidden these days.

Don't like pointing fingers at anyone but surely that dude Kinnear could've carried or dragged Bon into the house that nite, Bon was small of stature an weight.

You should do a video about the deaths of the two X Japan members Hide and Taiji. There's lots of speculation still going on about the latter and Hide's passing was really tragic too. Their vocalist also got brainwashed by a cult.

I partied with Bon Scott and the band on their first US tour wen they played at a apartment complex in San Jose CA back in the 1976 time frame. They were drinking Jack Daniels Green Label, about all I remember.
LOVE AC/DC, and Brian Johnson seems like an awesome guy, and of course Back In Black is a classic record...but for sure that band lost some balls and blues when Bon sadly passed away. They never had songs like Riff Raff, or What's Next to The Moon again.
Saw him twice with ACDC in 77 and 79. He dropped his pants in every show.

I've read Jessie Fink's book on Bon, highly recommended. Bon wrote the lyrics on at least several BIB tracks, it's undeniable. He had just finished writing the album, and being as much pressure as there was on him to do that at the time, he was celebrating that right before he died. I love Brian Johnson, but he didn't write most of the lyrics on that record - was already done. Someone took Bon's lyrics notebook, easy to guess who. I don't blame them, the songs were done, and AC/DC admittedly paid Bon's family a significant sum when BIB took off, as a gesture. Or to ease guilty consciences? And look at Johnson's lyrics in Geordie, and then from FTATR onward - not the same at all.
Reuben Kincaid I have heard a bootleg with some tracks from "Dirty Deeds..."and a couple from "BIB",specifically the songs;"Have a Drink On Me"and "What Do YA Do 4 Money,Honey". The sound quality is just shit,lacks the punch and polish of ,at least mixed once.Vocals are muddy and get lost in the recording ,however,U can clearly tell it is indeed,Bon Scott. I was absolutely mindfucked ,after I listened to this cassette.I had a friend who was from Oz, and he said he got it from his friend,who was a roadie for the band. I heard this cassette back in '86 and I asked him if his roadie friend,told him how he got a tape of the "blended album tracks "?He didn't know shit and was a heavy drinker,with plenty of miles on him at 35 years old. I don't know how the fuck,but it was 3 DD tracks and 2 BIB tracks ,with some talking between tracks and beer bottles clinking,like "live first takes". I don't know,but I know it was Bon Scott 💯 %!!
@@nirradyen-tolobaz3727 Wow, thank you SO much for sharing that anecdote! That's effectively proof of what Fink has been saying (that Bon wrote lyrics on BIB). The track BIB was about success/money (in the black vs the red), and Bon wrote it. And he also wrote Have a Drink, WDYDFM, Shoot to Thrill, and You Shook Me. At least. I knew these recordings existed - he was working on the songs with the band right before his death. So thank you again for confirming independently what no one else will/can.

Wow..Im a Metal head for 35 years..Never knew any of these details about Bon...and yea,given the normal recording process and record release for big bands,Bon HAD to have contributed to the BACK IN BLACK album...It was released 5 months after his death? Hell woulda took 2-3 of those months just to print the first million copies back then for release !

The Only Ones were very important in The Replacements history- their manager had the whole scene listening to their LPs. You'd hear them all the time. And you could hear it in Paul Westerberg- an American version. That was one influence.
I don't think I ever would've guessed Bon Scott and Brian Johnson toured together yeh it was before their AC/DC fame but still that's pretty cool
Another thing to note here Is that if anyone had any common sense They’d have carried Bon out of the car and inside Not leave him there firstly unsupervised and secondly in the freezing cold I’m not disputing the fact that he could well have died from the cold and alcohol poisoning but even that doesn’t add up
it is messed up & Sad, BUT to carry Bon upstairs would have been not easy, not like Bon was over weight But to carry a full grown man?

And to be Honest the whole reason back in black was made was to pay tribute to Bon. I doubt if he’d been alive back in black would never have been made or if it was it would sound very different all interesting stuff And like you I wi dear wgat AC/DC would be releasing with Bon today

@@df5295 yes that doesn’t add up I mean the fact that Bon was found in a different position to the one his friend claimed he was in before he’s found a few hours later in a position where he could easily have choked on his own vomit Not to mention he had asthma now on one hand you could argue that laying in your back can lead to choking but not all the time and it’s worth noting that the second friend could have very easily came along and moved Bon in a different position and could claim if questiond that Bon must have Somehow woken up and shifted to a different position
I idolized Bon as a youngster. Feeling misplaced and jaded. Bon made me realize being yourself is the best policy.

A really well put together video. Thanks. I'm 52yrs and remember listening to Highway To Hell and Let There Be Rock on an old record player growing up in rural Devon. Of course Bon Scott era AC/DC was the best of them and I reckon they should have retired after Blow Up Your Video. R.I.P. Bon Scott.
I found out, a few years back after I moved back to the States after 5 years living in London, that I had been living only a short walk from where he died. I was in Forest Hill and had friends who lived on Overhill Rd...I wish I would have known...
Oh, and it reminds me of the time I saw Foo Fighters at Wembley stadium while I was in London....and then found (years later) that the following night, Jimmy Page had come out and played a whole set with them...

I don't think it is fair to say that Bon Scott WAS the best front man in the world as there are just too many out there. However he was without a doubt ONE OF the best front men in the world. R.I.P Bon.
Bon died in February, Bonzo died in September, then John Lennon is murdered in December. On top of all that, my girlfriend passed away from cystic fibrosis in April at only 20 years old. 1980 f#@%ing sucked for me.

This videos shows two photos of Alistar Kinnear. One, in sun glasses, which was attached to a german newspaper article about Bons death, and Alistair had given them an interview at the time, and a photo of himself. The other photo of Alistair Kinnear was provided to the Herald Sun, by Alistairs son, when Alistair went missing at sea, in 2006, and shows Alistair when he was younger. Its obvious that its not the same man in both photos, and yet they both claim to be the same Alistair Kinnear. Kinnear is now presumed dead, lost at sea, as they never found his body.

Correction; the drummer for the Valentines was Doug Lavery! I played in a band with him for a few years! When the Valentines split' He joined a group called Axiom and was not in Fraternity as you said. That is from him directly.
Man if only he would've known how famous and rich he was about to be! But it's hard to picture ACDC with a different singer than the one that took his place.
"You shook me all night long" always gave me a strange feeling, it sounded to me like it's in Bon's style. When I first heard it a "Touch to much" came to me in my mind, this kind of sexual theme that was typical for Bon.
Would have loved to hear bon sing the back in black album. We all know he would have nailed you shook me all night long and have a drink on me. Rip
No Back and Black would not have been the album it was with Bon singing it. Sorry but I think the reason AC/DC became the band we all know and love now was because Bon died and Brian Johnson replaced him.

Debunked ! The temperature was well above freezing that night.
Nothing "mysterious" about Bon's death. He was comatose drunk, and rather than be bothered to carry him into their home, where he could sleep it off in a warm place, his "friends" left him in a car on a freezing night, where he choked on his own vomit while suffering hypothermia.

As big as AC/DC is now, if hadn't died they would have been the greatest band of all time. Bon's song writing skills were above and beyond anything the band released after his death.

Listen to back in black by Bon Scott and Brian Johnson on you tube. I can say that not only does Bon sound better, he doesn’t sound like he’s struggling with vocals. What a shame that idiot left him in the car like that he should of been with someone from the band or a bodyguard not a pack of dead beats. RIP Bon.
