The idea is to be able to use different IRs on the raw track from the computer and get two cabinets going. I know you can do two cabinets with WoS in one input, but this way if you don't quite the IR you used, you don't have to re-do the track. Thanks, in advance!

Never cranked it out loud and/or recorded that way, so I can't really compare, it just annoys me that my tone freakin sucks.
Kevin McDonald not quite sure without trying of course. There are many factors in play... Maybe tests with a different amp of you can borrow one or a custom IR on the Radar
Gianni Chiarello I only have one amp at the moment, so I'll have to check around. You think it could have anything to do with the tubes? I just realised I've had the amp for 3 years and never changed them.. (yes, it's okay to rage now)
Hey Kevin. I've got the same issue with similar set up. Just wanted to know how it sounds when you connect the headphones directly to your radar. Mine sounds freaking awesome when I use headphones directly to the radar but the tone is lost when I connect the radar to my 2i2. My signal chain is Guitar>Pedal Board> Vox Night Train G2>Captor>Radar>2i2 Were you able to fix this? Is so can you please let me know? Thanks.
Thanks I didn't buy them, just IRs I made myself either from cabs or programs I have. I might put a pack together and stick them on my site for download at some point...I'll post it if/when I do!
Thanks for the video. But just one thing : actually, you don not need the phantom alim at all since you use the line out (TRS) for recording. The power (phantom via XLR ou power adapter (9-24 v)) is only needed when you use the build-in cab sims of the captor. THus, no power required even with the DI out (XLR) if you set the cab sim switch to off ;) .
Gianni thanks for your video. I was hoping to pick your expertise regarding the most appropriate connection for minimizing noise floor: You use a TRS connection with an additional XLR that is just there to power the ground (instead of an adapter without the XLR). Alongside that your output in the captor is about 50% What is your input level in your DAW in DBFS? I'm getting horrible noise with anything above 10% output in the captor. I'm also using the line in (instead of instrument) in the scarlett that's going through a VLZ4 pre-amp that works with a mic Any pitfalls that come to your mind before I contact support? Thanks for your help
steamorfry I am not sure...i think this is all relatively new stuff that requires a lot of trial/error... Try following the signal chain and see what is that creates that noise
the Torpedo Captor manual clearly states that "The phantom or external power supply is not needed to use the LINE output" (page 14) You just need a 48v Phantom Power (or a 9v to 24v power supply) if you are going to use the XLR output. The LINE output is always DRY (no CAB simulation) and does not need power supply. In fact, the XLR DI output is the ONLY feature that needs external powering. Everything else in the Captor - including attenuation - runs on it's own. I appreciate the effort in making the video.. and the tones you got from that setup are amazing. I was curious to hear something like that. But... Read the manual the next time, dude. You've made more than 22.000 people get a wrong idea about the gear you were supposed to review....

I don't get anywhere as good tone as I've heard from anyone demoing, I even got it setup just like you and my tone is still "dead".
Guitar > Mesa Mini Recto Verb > Speaker output > Captor > Mooer Radar > Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 > Pro Tools first.
Could there be something wrong with the amp maybe? Never cranked it out loud and/or recorded that way, so I can't really compare, it just annoys me that my tone freakin sucks.
Kevin McDonald not quite sure without trying of course. There are many factors in play... Maybe tests with a different amp of you can borrow one or a custom IR on the Radar
Gianni Chiarello I only have one amp at the moment, so I'll have to check around. You think it could have anything to do with the tubes? I just realised I've had the amp for 3 years and never changed them.. (yes, it's okay to rage now)
What guitar and what pickups in it...
Hey Kevin. I've got the same issue with similar set up. Just wanted to know how it sounds when you connect the headphones directly to your radar. Mine sounds freaking awesome when I use headphones directly to the radar but the tone is lost when I connect the radar to my 2i2. My signal chain is Guitar>Pedal Board> Vox Night Train G2>Captor>Radar>2i2
Were you able to fix this? Is so can you please let me know?
Thanks.
👍👍👍😃 well done !
nice playing!
Really nice sound and playing. Could you tell us where you bought the custom IRs. They sound fantastic. Whats your opinion about Mooer radar?
Thanks I didn't buy them, just IRs I made myself either from cabs or programs I have. I might put a pack together and stick them on my site for download at some point...I'll post it if/when I do!
Oh i see, thanks for the reply, the best tone ive heard from cab simulations!!
Yeah amazing sounds. Any chance you managed to get this pack uploaded? Thanks for the vid
Beautiful guitar playing brother btw, keep it up
Grande suono! Complimenti. Prova ad aggiungere questi due settaggi nell'eq parametrico: Freq: 110Hz, DB: +13, Q: 2.50
Freq: 12kHz, DB: +13, Q: 0.50.Saluti.
u dont need the phantom power if u are only using de line out
André Bonolo I know but the ground loop seems to be more efficient when powered. Might just be my setup
ah ok
4:40
Thanks for the video. But just one thing : actually, you don not need the phantom alim at all since you use the line out (TRS) for recording. The power (phantom via XLR ou power adapter (9-24 v)) is only needed when you use the build-in cab sims of the captor. THus, no power required even with the DI out (XLR) if you set the cab sim switch to off ;)
.
+MaB yes but I find the ground loop switch works better when powered. Might just be in my setup
Gianni thanks for your video. I was hoping to pick your expertise regarding the most appropriate connection for minimizing noise floor:
You use a TRS connection with an additional XLR that is just there to power the ground (instead of an adapter without the XLR). Alongside that your output in the captor is about 50%
What is your input level in your DAW in DBFS?
I'm getting horrible noise with anything above 10% output in the captor. I'm also using the line in (instead of instrument) in the scarlett that's going through a VLZ4 pre-amp that works with a mic
Any pitfalls that come to your mind before I contact support? Thanks for your help
steamorfry I am not sure...i think this is all relatively new stuff that requires a lot of trial/error... Try following the signal chain and see what is that creates that noise
Similar setup. But I used mine without the XLR out and it hums like CRAZY.
the Torpedo Captor manual clearly states that "The phantom or external power supply is not needed to use the LINE output" (page 14)
You just need a 48v Phantom Power (or a 9v to 24v power supply) if you are going to use the XLR output.
LOL
Sound great, but sounds like Hi Fi instead of tube dynamics.
less talk, more test
This amp with mooer is total overkill bro xd
This comment makes no sense bro xd given that the whole point of this setup is to use an amp you like without having to mic a real cab. The Mooer just houses IR's and allows him to use the Morgan in any setting for recording or direct to a PA live. This setup is perfectly suited to that amp.
@@trahnettilhcs yeah. Buy Morgan amp and refuse to pay for high quality IR loader like torpedo.
