Revival Cycles “Fuse” Ducati | Jay Leno's Garage
I love your motorcycle content, Jay. Please do more. Beautiful bike.
yes i love that jay is into cars and bike equally
Yeah, more bikes. Especially custom bikes, and more rare/hard-to-find/oddball stuff. I've had my fingers crossed for Leno turning up with a Crocker, for years. It'd be perfect for his collection, with all the Vincent's and Brough Superiors and Velocettes
One day, Jay will finally get too old to ride crazy bikes like this, but that day isn't today and I'm thankful for it.
ageism ?
It is a piece of art, no question. And I figure most of us would not be able to even walk after riding for half an hour. There is nothing about that thing that says "I'm comfortable."
I laughed at this… great comment:)
Usually when jay guests speak and show their work i look at them, during this video no matter who spoke i looked at the motorcycle. What a stunning, beautiful gorgeous piece of art.
that's what the sales guy told us
Don’t gitme wrong. I love Ducati’s. 916 il Monstere being my all time favorite-the bike that made me drive by the Ducati dealership a couple nights a week, even tho it wasn’t on the way home. But thisun doesn’t do a thing for me.
Stainless steel under load, such as standing rigging on a sailboat has about a 10-year service life. It doesn’t give you much warning before it fails. For this reason I would choose cro-moly steel.
Sounds right, tho.
Thanks for yet another great JLG!
👍👍👍👍👍
I agree looks like a chopper in sport bike guise
Agreed. There's a reason nobody else is making chassis out of stainless.
me either
Could you copy this bike for a lot less now they put all the effort/money into design
how many hands gave you got, man?
The design of this bike is beautiful. To me, what makes it amazing is that its design can be placed into the 20's, 30's, 50's, 60's, up until the present and still work. That is not an easy feat to accomplish. Adding to the fact that it is more than just rideable, that it performs adds even more to the power of its design. Form and function well balanced.
"It works when it looks like it wasn't much work at all."
As a machinist, that statement alone holds so much meaning.
That has to be the best looking bike I've seen in years. Beautiful work.
I don't like the riding position myself, lots of back problems. But the design is outstanding, your eye dosen't stop looking at the lines! Thanks to all involved for sharing!
its not for actual riding))
That bike is gorgeous and will a significant piece of art in the cycle world for the foreseeable future. It even looks better at speed as the spokes disappear. Hats off to Ed and Revival for pushing Engineering and fabrication to the limits. ps- The Modulus for stainless is quite high so it will not see any fatigue issues. Great question though by Jay
now Just wait for VW to sue them for putting a logo on the bike that isn't really Ducati. Mercedes and Ferrari do this all the time
There is tubing for bicycle frames in very thin stainless steel. Reynolds 953 for example
Modulus of Elasticity for stainless steel is not much different than regular low-alloy steel. Actually it's a little bit less.
Oh its cool, just not $500k cool. $150k, now they'd be on to something. They don't need a stainless chassis. That just seems unnecessary.
@@pashakdescilly7517 Which are brazed together NOT welded. Theres a reason for that
Genius. Remarkable discipline, vision, and dedication to the art.
This bike is all about aesthetics. I get the feeling that Jay prefers more functional design (as do I). No denying that it is a stunning bike though. Each to his own.
certainly stuns the bank manager
Good for them! I used to get parts from them about 12 years ago when I lived down the street… great guys! Amazing shop!
I like how the little Rizoma Mirror appeared when Jay took it for a spin :)
eagle
You knock choppers, but mine hasbeen back and forth from Ann Arbor Michigan to Bremerton WA. a couple times. It was built for me by me. It fits me. It's comfy to ride.
I had the 920 Monster. I loved that bike. This thing is gorgeous, But not my look. A little to sanitary.
Love the exposed cam belt.
Hope everyone has an awesome day. 👍
But they look gay
I think he was referring to the super long ridiculously stretched ones. Maybe ok for highway driving but jay lives where theres lots of city riding and windy hills. Same way here in WV. Lots of hills and windy 2-lane roads. Choppers are not the best in that respect.
I know why Ducati hasn’t responded to the photo … … they are speechless! Extremely nice execution . So glad you got to show this bike off…. I love it …
"well, it tracks nice and true", means that it's a show bike that can be ridden. "functional, kinetic art work"... That's a LOT of money for ego. Mr. Leno spends a LOT of money on his hobby, but what's great about him is that he's humble and his toys all run well and are useable.
Check out Bikes and Beards those guys are great ambassadors for bikes.
This is the most beautiful bike that I have ever seen, and you can actually ride it! Love the Ducati rumble too.
One of the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen. I have owned Lambos, Aston Martin, Maserati, many Porsches, Ducati’s. MV Agusta, etc. I appreciate moving ART. Almost as much fun looking at a masterpiece as riding one
I saw this in person at the Hand Built show in Austin TX and got to chat with Alan about it a bit. I have a video of that on my channel. This is an absolute stunner of a bike!
This kind of machine is really why I watch jay leno garage every Monday
Absolutely beautiful looking motorcycle and it can actually be ridden? Now that is something else again!
Simply as a piece of art, I understand, not to my taste, but that’s o.k, beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. As a practical riding bike, it makes very little sense to me, apart from riding it around the corner to your local cafe, uncomfortable seat etc. Though I am most concerned about the stainless frame, high usage would have me constantly scanning for cracks.
Jay questioned them several times about the stainless and they kept saying it was extra thick tubing. I don't think it will ever get ridden enough for it to be an issue.
I could spend an entire day looking at this bike from every conceivable angle! Just Breathtaking!
You need to get out more often 😀.
@@douglasr.c.5622 Interesting choice of words! Not really. This phrase is most commonly used by trolls towards someone with an opinion. One might expect someone that presents as getting out often would know this and think of something more original. Nice Try. You got my attention so I'm guessing I have made your day. You won't get any more.
@@williamwintemberg I stick by my statement.
You have to be kidding. If you could spend a DAY staring at a motorcycle, something is wrong.
The welding on the exhaust alone is an undertaking in itself!
Let us pray the undertaker isn't needed
I would have two! One for rinding and a second one just as an art piece!
So much work and you can see it too.
Just beautifully done and yes,it is artwork.
Jay was clearly impressed with all the challenges the guys faced with all the material challenges they had to deal with.
That triple clamp area just looks insane.
The whole bike looks gorgeous.
This thing is gorgeous! It's so hard to make simple lines look so flowing and relevant, this is like rideable minimalist art.
A design so obvious no one thought of it before. Brilliant.
This is the most beautiful bike i have ever seen. Congratulations on this piece of art. Thank you so much for showing this to us!
Its horrendous
Wow! These guys went to Arrakis, captured 3 little makers and made an exhaust system out of them 🤯
Good Lord! What a stunning bike. Amazing.
golden era of design in everything from areoplanes to automotive to motorcycle and furniture etc
Good art is polarizing, so here I go 😁
I hate when tubes are made out of welded together "calamari" sections. It's a styling touch that too closely resembles incompetence with a tubing bender.
It's like me plumbing your entire house with nothing but pipe fittings -- no pipe -- installed outside of your walls for your viewing pleasure.
He should have used PEX
Some people don't get it... That's fine, so don't get it
@@rcpmac It's been said, "there's no accounting for taste"
I respect all the effort that went into just that one part. It must have been a huge time sink, and when you look at the rest of the bike, to let the exhaust just be plain _pipes_ would be negligence.
I tend to have a pendulous ambivalence as to where the beauty lies in a machine -- form is always fighting function in my mind.
With everything else being so clean it does... Feel like a separate design. Obviously that's intentional to create the contrast but contrast but... While I would like a smoother pipe, I don't have a 1/2 a million dollars to disagree.
The pipes look very much like custom expansion chambers on tuned two-strokes. That segmenting technique makes sense when the diameter changes substantially, but it's an odd choice for a four stroke. I don't hate them, but they're my least favorite part of the bike.
The only word I can think for this bike, is stunning! What a beautiful piece of artwork!
I'm late to the game, but I started binge watching your videos about a week ago. Great content, Jay!
Jay's skepticism regarding the use of stainless steel for the frame tubes is astute. This bike's function follows form.
they make some bmx and other 'jump bikes' custom frames out of stainless... apparently they don't last that much longer under stress compared to the regular steel ones, although the material itself is way more rigid.
Knocked out of the park with this build. Everything about it is just perfection!❤
Absolutely stunning. What a beautiful bike. Yes, it's scary expensive. But gorgeous.
It is a beautiful design...hands down one of THE most beautiful motorcycles I have ever seen...
That is the most beautiful bike I’ve ever seen!
love this bike. i love the single seat cafe racers. This will go down as one of the most beautiful of it's kind in my mind. cheers to the builders and designers, and thanks Jay for more great no nonsense motorcycle content. cheers!
Every piece is amazing and a work of art as a whole, beautiful. I can no longer keep my head in that racer position, just not comfortable
That's why it was always amazing what the Japanese mass-produced could give you for a few thousand bucks..
Mega cool Jay...seen many this bike's pictures, now I know the story behind it!
Jay and I are about the same age and he has been riding almost as long as I have. I'm glad to see he is still able to ride that Cafe bike. I don't think it is his cup of tea now at his age but it is a beautifully designed bike. A lot more money than it needed to be is all I can say. No way would I put that kind of money into a bike even if I had the spare dough. But some people's kids you know.
Yeah Jay didn't like riding it but he didn't mind looking at it..like you said some people's kids smh..
@@normalisntcomingback.Jesusis Jay may be old but he knows how to ride.
@@joelbrittenour8197 did I say anything about his age or if he knew how to ride??
@@joelbrittenour8197 GEEZ,HE AINT OLD LIKE KING TUT, I WAS 73 WHEN I BOUGHT MY LAST MOTORCYCLE,AN ELECTRO-GLIDE
@@yahatinda What's an Electro-Glide, dopey, an electric Harley? And you think that you're not too old!
Love the motorcycle content. Not my cup of tea with this bike but i can appreciate the time and money put into a one off build.
Jay, thanks for asking the questions I would have - not being afraid to question things. This thing's amazing.
Thanks Alan, Ed and Jay!
they got it right when they said it would spend its life being adored rather than actually ridden. but as motorcycle art goes, it's a goddess.
Do the unknown industries Harley’s. The world needs to see em
Programming for the 5 axis is one thing,
but hammering out the aluminum body work really shows the craftsmanship.
wow jay what a piece of art ! never seen anything like it
That's probably the most beautiful Cafe Racer I've seen in my life. I'm blown away.
Excellent definition of more money than brains!
Absolutely stunning! There has been no compromises to the design, everythibg is like it should be... maybe it could have been a bit lower?
I’m not a bike guy, but damn that’s gorgeous. Glad to see Jay still enjoying motorcycles.
I saw that thing at the Quail gathering. What a beauty!!
Great stuff!! Jay, please do some episodes with Max Hazan's bikes!!!!!
Jay, the single sided front rotor doesn't blow out seals. Buell Motorcycles ran them from 1995, the first model being S2, and still currently run them on the new iteration of Buell(although Erik Buell is no longer part of that company). Plus they ran them on race tracks as well. As Alan commented, fork size makes a big difference.
Gorgeous bike!! Thanks Jay!
Love the car stuff but really enjoy the motorcycle content, motorcycles are true art, and more of “man and machine” Please do more mc content.
It's legit piece of art. A rolling kinetic sculpture. One-of-a-kind priceless. The exhaust system is worth the price of admission alone. It is stunning.
Jay, you don't need mirrors, you can get a modem helmet that detects other vehicles, beautiful bike.
Beautiful bike no way in hell it's worth 500 thousand.
welcome to the art business )
Actually it was, because that's the price someone was willing to pay for it.
It's a prototype man. Now that it's a concept it could be done in CF and Chromly for $75K
Much respect to Revival! Like the guys, like their TH-cam channel, like their stuff, like their bikes. Nuff said, thanks, but 500k, for that bike, nahhhhh gimme a Singer 911 instead thanks :)
Gorgeous. Cool to hear about the design process.
Absolutely stunning looking bike!!
This bike looks sleek 😲
I've always loved motorcycles that are beautiful because their form follows function, not the other way around.
Just learned of the Barber Motorsport Museum. After a tour their in house designer sat for a conversation with Pierre Terblanche. His design work with Ducati is epic but he states his greatest achievement is his latest work with BST called the Hypertek electric motorcycle. Comments of the bike stated only Jay Leno could afford one. You should consider it.
Fantastic job! Now finish the pipe!
I was aiming of the rear fender all the episod... it really grinds my gears...
I can understand why they started with a virago engine, I always thought those were good looking engines. One time I took a ride on the cafe version the 920 Euro, remember it felt very stable in fast sweepers.
Anyway, this is an amazing vision for a bike, what a project to see through.
May Ed have real joy riding and showing it.
One of the most streamlined custom bikes I've ever seen. The pipes have a bit of a H.R. Giger vibe going for it.
@Ron Speer: right Ronnie, pipes r Gigeresque only thing I liked about the bike, the duck engine has always fit the same bill
That bike looks amazing!!
Beautiful looking bike , not sure about that exhaust system.
Leno is definitely the type of guy to wear full motorcycle gear EXCEPT for what the road meets first... your hands lol
Talk about a piece of art...the pipes alone are worth the price of admission.👏🏆
Pick my jaw up off the floor another mind blowing vid from Jay
The build quality is amazing 👏 what a beautiful bike
What a Jaw-Dropping Custom . YES , I does look like a Factory Special . The Execution is THAT good . Simple and Clean . Very much an S S feel .
I do remember " the bird cage " 👍👍.
Pretty neat they built that too.
Nice piece of art, I’ve seen NFTs go for over 100k so I can see why someone enjoys this type of art.
Jay!!!
GLOOOOOVES!!!!!
A very fine piece of art that motorcycle is. It might not be ridden much or be practical, but a DeVinci painting isnt practical either yet its worth tremendous amount of money to some people.
I wouldnt pay that even if i could, but i sure can appreciate the amount of effort went into this stunning looking piece of art of a motorcycle.
wow. absolutely wonderful. and great vid Jay 👊👍👍
jay said it all. it looks as though its going 200 mph just standing there.
Proud to have them in Austin.
Had a mate who fell of his bike not wearing gloves, bikes smashed to bits, only injury was his hands, couldn't work for 12 months. Wear them
0
I can't remember when I saw a rider on the road NOT wearing gloves. I know guys who wear full riding Kevlar armour even when they're taking a Sunday cruise in a rural area.
No
Had a mate who thought he could tell another man how to live his life. He got killed for it. Shut up.
Thx Jay and Alan and of course, the Dell master
That dude makes the coolest bikes ever!
Very impressive design and execution.
i'm still not getting notifications from your site. i have been subscribed to you for years.
I wouldn't ride that too far Jay. Good luck.🙏❤❤🤑
Thanks for this. It’s great to see a bike on the channel. More, please.
And I see before Jay rode it there was a mirror installed!
It's a beauty to be sure. That exhaust destroys the elegant lines. That rear smooth chrome swing arm needs to be uncovered/seen not hidden by that reptilan cartoonish trumpet.
Jay managed to get a mirror put on it for his ride.... :)
Nice Bike! WoW love the exhaust and wheel spokes
