I'm old enough to have played the original PoP on the Amiga and the Sands of Time trilogy are some of the best games ever made. I'm glad to see this series returning.
Ha-I am that old, too. Amiga 500 with 1MB upgrade and a ton of copied games including Prince of Persia. I still remember the part where saw the mirror blocking your path and had to take a running jump through the mirror and the clone silver came out. My little mind was blown. I hope this game is good and does well.

I remember playing one of the original games 20 years ago and during the part where you climb castle walls I was just awestruck by how awesome it looked. Coming from NES Mario games that was such a next gen moment for me. Very excited for this. Comparing this to Hollow Knight is very high praise indeed.
The map memory is the king of QOL, built as an actual mechanic. If this was in, for example symphony of the night, the amount of hours I would have saved, granted that game is years old and still imo the best "metroidvania" period, it would have been nice to have.

This is absolutely awesome! I love the concept of a metrovania for this series. The music was kind of a small call back to warrior within’s guitar heavy but instead it more subtle on this game. The bosses look amazing! Towering hulking masses of hurt and pain reminiscent of hollow light, blasphemous, and symphony of the night. This game is definitely on the wish list
I remember when Ubisoft showed this off and the reaction for it was very cold because everyone is waiting on the 3D Prince Of Persia, but i thought it looked great, and this just cemented that fact. This looks dope as hell.
Wow, it looks so good! The 1st trailer they showed during SGF, I believe, truly did the game a disservice. I especially like that you can customise it to make it easier or harder. I'm a huge fan of Ender Lilies, but Hollow Knight seems too scary to play because I'm just not that dexterous. However, I like how the exploration feels in metroidvanias, so I've been in a difficult spot. Not when it comes to this game, though, it seems!
I was already hugely interested in this when I saw the first trailer and after seeing the preview it looks dope! Now we just need silksong to come out soon.
Imma a huge fan this series. I wasn't gonna play this but after watching you play, it will be fun and challenging. Not a big fan of linear games but this one isn't just a straight line. Being able to go up and down makes it more interesting. Thanks Cowboy. 💯
The ability to capture a screenshot in the map is a fantastic idea. I have recently been playing through Mirror of Fate on PS3, and while the ability to add notes is awesome, it is really time consuming typing in a descriptive note with the controller.
Loved Prince of Persia when I was a kid, nice to see a new game in the series after so long and it’s cool that they’re going back to the 2d style. Kinda wish you actually played as the Prince, (because as far as I know the protagonist in this game isn’t him), but that’s not a huge deal I guess. This looks fun!
@@Blisterdude123 yea it is a little odd, but the initial idea for Assassins Creed was a Prince of Persia game where you didn’t play as the Prince. So it’s not like this is the first time they’ve thought of this

Please let this game be good. I loved the original 2D games, the sword fighting and the platforming was very fun. I feel like the sword fighting in this version of the game will not feel as good. I hope I'm wrong.
I wish we could dupe Cowboy into playing the new Flashback game. I don't want to buy it but I'd love to see him play it and give us his take on it. He's sure to be pretty salty during that play through from all I've read so far about the gameplay.

The more gameplay I saw of this, the more I got excited! I grew up playing the 3D Prince of Persia games then went back to play the old school Prince of Persia games via emulation and loved those as well The PoP series is one of my all time favorite games of all time and to see The Lost Crown look a bit like Hollow Knight will be amazing in my book! You bet I'm getting this day one!
Yeah, the map marker system is great. In The Last Faith I just found the 4th hidden severed head thing and I've unlocked some door somewhere, but the hell if I can remember where that door is... I didn't mark it when I had went by it initially and now that it's unlocked, I have absolutely zero clue where it is. I've looked EVERYWHERE I can think of... I've probably re-explored the entire map like 3 times and can't find it. Google has been no help either since that just keeps returning me guides on either the 4 flames to unlock the door in that one area of the map or the 4 little hidden orbs that unlocks that vault under the graveyard.

I just started playing grime. It's way better than I expected and can't believe it took me so long to play. If you haven't played it you should try it!
The combat in this game looks precise and satisfying. The traversal and exploration seem pretty fluid. Not too fast and not too slow. If the final reviews are positive, I'll definitely buy this game on Day One.
I'm senior so played the originals on home computers like the Amiga and commodore, then sands of time etc. This reboot looks promising, and cowboy seemed to be impressed so that's good enough for me. Roll on release. 😊
This looks incredible! I had a lot of hopes given my love of PoP games and Metroidvanias but it's been a long time since there's been a PoP and I wasn't sure if Ubisoft still had it. From what I've seen, they still have it.
This seemed like a good buy, but the Memory Shards feature on the map sold me. The Digital Deluxe version on PS5 has a 3 day early access and the Prosperity Bird Amulet (not sure what it does, maybe more currency?) among other things for $10 more.
This looks fantastic and brings me right back. I played the original on a C64 then Prince of Persia 2 on 2 286 PC. 2D Platformer is the right choice though I get while some people are disappointed by this. If Ubisoft wouldn't have messed it up we would have a Sands of Time Remake by now which should have made all the people coming to this franchise in the 3D area happier. I wonder if this will ever come out.
I've been keeping a cautious eye on this game. I've loved the POP franchise, and seeing that first teaser trailer I had my doubts. I'm hoping it plays like Deadcells. I dropped a dummy amount of time into that game. I know its a metro, not a roguelike, but still, side scrollers can absolutely slap. Kinda hoping, like what Square did with the first TombRaiderr reboots, that Ubi puts skins or throwbacks to the original game/s. Running through this hyper-stylised game as a pixelated prince would be cool.
So besides super Mario bros. The only recent side stroller I played was tales of Iron. Loved it. Never new this existed. I can't wait. Looks like a side scrolling kind of sekiro type feel. Either way I'm sold
This looks bloody amazing. Can't wait to play the demo on Jan 11th. You should check out Laika: Aged Through Blood, if you haven't already. Amazing Metroid with a quite a unique gameplay loop, amazing soundtrack, and mature story.
1:28 for a sec I thought the Horse was holding a knife in its mouth ala Sif, but it turns out they put tusks on a Horse armor, which arguably is even cooler
Being a long time fan of the PoP games, this beings me back to the oldest ones and the mobile games. Despite that, I've enjoyed the 3D action games more so I am a bit hesitant about this. I am getting more interested into checking out sime metroidvanias nowadays so maybe I will give this a go. It is a shame it's not the 3D action game I hoped for god knows how many years.
Perhaps it will be a nice Metroidvania. But I’m not happy that in the game called “Prince of Persia” we play not for the prince, but for some random dude from Fortnite... I'm a big fan of the Sands of Time trilogy, especially the second one game. And I love metroidvanias, but I don't like the cartoon style for this franchise. The Prince always looked realistic, especially the animation! The acrobatics were smooth. And here everything blinks and moves sharply, in “Anime-type” cutscenes everything glitters and twitches. I can't accept that for this franchise. Perhaps I will finish this game, and perhaps I will even like it, but I will put a lot of effort into constantly forgetting that this is Prince of Persia.

I'm glad you talked about the shards of whatever they are that pop out of enemies when you kill them how you have to go get them. That was the first thing I noticed that I didn't like. I don't like having to equip something to be able to collect them from further away. They should come to you automatically. You're on top of an enemy when you kill them. They should be collected immediately. The 2 things I can't stand about how knight is the map system and the currency falling all over the place. They are 2 pointless mechanics that negatively impact the game. The map is by far the worst part.
I haven't really cared for a lot of the games Ubisoft has released in the last 8 or so years, but this looks like it will be fun. Speaking of Ubisoft, anyone going to be playing Skull and Bones in February?

Looks good, but 2 criticisms for me are that I don't like the Prince's design, and I would really like another game like the Warrior Within style. This just seems like they wanted to do a souls-like metroidvania because they are in at the moment. Love that style of game, but I'd rather it went in a different direction.

Besides Salt, Blasphemous and Vigil which have already been mentioned some other MVs that I enjoyed are Ender Lilies, Hollow Knight, Afterimage, Forged In Shadow Torch, Infernax and Moonscars.

Do yourself a favor and play Hollow Knight it’s not hard and such a great and extremely fun game with awesome gameplay and some great NPC’s

Prince of Persia is what inspired assasins creed. This franchise has been an innovator an inspiration and a cult classic for many many years

That exploration feature is a genre changing mechanic.
I remember renting the original NES game from the early '90s. It was like 10fps, but the animations looked so smooth.

I like how the enemies stagger when hit. I noticed on blasphemous the enemies were very tanky.

This game looks bad ass!! I just platinum The Last Faith and I need to find another game to pass the time with before this game comes out. Any recommendations? I already beat both Salts & both Blasphemous games.

I Want your help I was in depth after fight vahram then I return to city and when I come to depth can not return to the first point which was there after fighting vahram because can not pass from masked monster
