      @@tiko325 When I do this exercise I like to change hands at the bottom, i.e. letting go of the kettlebell on the ground, holding the position while switching hands, coming back up. I usually don't do many reps as I use it as a warm-up for pistol squats, mostly - really lights up all stabilizing muscles - but I guess it would be interesting to do it for time. The hand switch really adds complexity and changes the way your core fires every rep.

    A few questions: What is meant in the beginning by "packing the shoulder"? What videos would you recommend for learning more about these techniques, such as packing the shoulder and "breathing behind the shield"? Last question. I live in LA, and I'm interested in short term training to become self sufficient with kettlebell. Is that possible, and where could I find your rates?

    • @cucciafr68
      @cucciafr68 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Packing the shoulder refers to the optimal shoulder position for these exercises. Pull your shoulder blades back and then down. It's the opposite of shrugging your shoulders and pushing them forward. It can help with range of motion and it makes you fire your lats. I'm sure there other reasons for it as well. I try to do this daily (with supinated arms) to correct a slouching posture.

    Yes! I actually do this one lol. This is a great exercise for soccer players who want to improve kick/control with non-favoured foot. You start with the unaccustomed standing leg skill. Once that dynamic support is reached, your weak-foot skills will improve markedly. Cells that work together wire together!

    I tough I understood the "pull the kneecap" cue but after this video i'm not sure anymore. Kind of difficult if i squezze my glute AND pull my kneecap. So maybe my swing is bad... Could you do a video explaining the exercise, and one elaborating more on the legs of using clubs? What's a good sets and rep scheme for this as a beginner? I find them pretty tough enough bodyweight and it's definitely due to my arches and foot/ankle stability. Should I try to actively 'grab the ground' and push my big toe down and out?

  • @shirahonig6051
    @shirahonig6051 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mark, great video as always! Does a flat foot qualify as a "bad arch"? And do you have any recommendations for simpler, more fundamental balance exercises to work your way up to this? Or better to just start working on balance here using whatever weight you're able to?
