What an amazing transformation for a very tiny, TINY section! A big thumbs up adding the shelving at the top of the shoe rack! We're a family of five living in a 2 bedroom apartment... by the main entry way, I have a hand me down wooden 3 shelf system by the door where all of the family shoes go. Not fancy, but it serves a purpose 😉
The perfect solution is totally worth it! I am lucky to have an entry way and a storage area by the front door so shoes are off on entry and then popped into the shoe/boot storage section. In my old apartment I kept my Dyson under the bed, as it was the only place with room and a power outlet. Another idea to cover the fuse box it to hang a light picture over it (with the command strips LOL) - I did this in my previous condo for both the fuse box, and the ugly heat/cooling panel.
Great solution! It even (mostly) hides the Dyson! My front door opens right onto carpeted floor, so I have no choice but to put a boot tray right there 😐. But it’s better than having to vacuum daily.

If the spacing of the bars allows, I recommend storing the shoes toe side out. I discovered this recently and I'm amazed at how cute the shoes look that way.
That came out so cute and made that space so functional! We have a bench along one wall in our living room (where we enter the apartment) it has a shelf under in and we have about 750 pairs of shoes crammed under there but you can't really see the ones in the back so we can access them but it doesn't look too messy as long as the ones in front stay lined up. Haha

I did not even know command hooks comes in a nail form. I always learn something from you!❤ I use a magazine holder at the door mostly for my husbands baseball shoes. He do not have much of an entry way for shoes.

Love the transformation! You have such a great knack at finding just the right thing! Have you ever considered hiring an electrician to put an outlet INSIDE the closet (above or below the one shown)? Then you won't have to look at the Dyson anymore (not that it's not pretty!🤩)?
This is such a great solution! I like how you added a shelf to the top. I really need a functional shoe storage solution, half my shoes are in a laundry basket and the rest are in a pile on the floor and I usually end up kicking them out of the way.

We revamped a utility closet next to our garage door to be a coat closet since that’s where we come in & out of the house most frequently. We lowered some of the shelves to place shoes on, added baskets to the top shelf for gloves & scarves, then added a row of hooks for our coats and some hats. There’s even extra space for my purse on the basket shelf and some hooks on the inner door for umbrellas and re-usable shopping bags. Since the gloves are in baskets I’ve clipped pairs together with binder clips so they’re always easy to find and we added a tray on the floor for wet/snow covered shoes.
Genius solution! I love how precise you are with Command strips and hooks. I love them too, but tend to just slap them on and stick. I don't measure! I just eyeball it. Sometimes it works, other times not so much. I recently moved my shoe rack from my tiny bedroom closet to my entryway coat closet. But, because I store my giant Dyson and carpet cleaner in the coat closet, I had no floor space. I decided to put my shoe rack on the top rack of the coat closet to use the vertical space. It fits perfectly. I'm 5' 9", so I can reach my shoes just fine! TFS!!!
I love this makeover! We have our shoes on a small shelf unit but I just bought a tall white bookshelf like I see a lot of people on TH-cam using. The area where we keep the shoes is not at the front door so it doesn't need to look super nice, just functional. Your makeover did give me some ideas for a small areas not far from our front door though. I've never seen those nail Command strips but I definitely will be looking for those today.
I loved this video, from your funny intro, to your entertaining voiceover, the transformation of the space, and even Clover's appearance at the end. It's just a great video all around, and you created such a beautiful area with so little space. 😍 We have a house, but also a very small entry area, that includes the laundry (which I hate). We have a shoe rack, but I don't feel like it has great functionality the way it is designed, it's just the one we've owned for like 15 years. I love it❣️We use a Hemnes Shoe Cabinet from Ikea. It’s not much bigger or wider than the shoe rack you used. And the shoes are stored in pull down drawers so they are concealed from view. It even has a shelf on top that we use to hold our keys.
