This was the year I had outgrown buying packs as I turned 15. I was happy to recognize 70 percent of the players by faces and Jersey numbers. As a Sabre fan would have loved to have pulled that poster from the last pack! Didn't even know they did those posters but topps did inserts previous

Another rip that brings back so many memories. We didn't have as a hard a time knowing who the players were because we took a dime and rubbed them. LOL. I forgot about the poster inserts. They are fantastic. Nice Esposito last year. I am surprised as many unscratched ones exist. Thanks for ripping these. It was so much fun going back in time.
Funny, my father called me last night when he saw the video, and asked me why I didn’t scratch off the names. I told him the video would’ve been double the time if I did that 🤣. I guess 1980 was poster year for Topps, since they included them in the basketball packs as well. This is a nice looking set. I prefer the OPC, for if anything, making it much easier for recognition. Still a fun break. I’m hoping next time maybe I’ll know 5-6 of the guys are vs the only 4 or 5 I knew here 😁

Oh my god no!!!! After the video, I examined it and every piece had mold spots!!! Topps thought It was innovative to try the scratch offs, that it would be fun. Apparently, that didn’t fly. It failed to the point that when the OPC was released just after, it was eliminated. But yes, “guess who” is a great way to describe these!!! I think I recognized like 4-5 cards, maybe??? It’s stressful opening this set… Thank you again for your support 😁

Yes, I definitely still love the old jerseys!!! I wish some of these teams were still in their original cities. At least we can open old cards and still admire the sweaters 😁. To answer your last question, the Flames were in Atlanta through the 79-80 season so the picture on the card would be in an Atlanta uniform. The 80-81 season was their first in Calgary. This set doesn’t mention the city the team plays in. Thank you for watching 😁
