I hope one day if they come to Canada to see a show live, if they don't I need to book a flight to see them live in Sweden. Must have been wonderful to experience them live. Thank you for the comment.
I was there as well. Awesome night, especially this song of course. They actually managed to finish the tour. After this gig I think they played in Oslo and then in Stockholm to close it up. \m/
In the english version, the lyrics are different. "They've been to war a decade Two more to come!" I understand both english and swedish, but I like the swedish version more.
I feel a bit weird sometimes when people feel pride about this song. For me it is the opposite. It is the story of the 30 year war fought for plunder and conquest in the name of religion. More and more men were sent to be canon fodder. At the end, 20% of the army had to be replaced each year because of deaths, diseases, wounds. Young people were conscripted, kidnapped by force to fight a war in another country they knew nothing of. With lack of modern logistics, they had to survive on plundering food from the natives. No heroes in that war. Back at home, the disappearance of manpower caused poverty and famine which took 200 years to recover from. Church bells were melted down to finance the war. No one had the time to mourn those sent to fight as they were themselves struggling to survive with the kings taxmen demanding more and more. The English version of the song gives the background of the war, calling it an insanity and criminal. That is the context needed to understand the situation the young soldier is placed in in this Swedish version. It is certainly no song for patriotism. More like an anti-war song.
Me and my son where there.😁
Still got chills.
Love from Sweden👍👍👍

Wonderful to know they were able to finish that tour, every show they did just looks incredible!
And then the world went into lockdown after that.
Joakim conducting a choir of thousands...
Yeah, all 10 766 of us there that night.
TBH, this song is awesome, every nation in the world can rely to this song. But the crowd :) awesome.
Such a powerful performance from both the crowed and Sabaton, still one of the best live shows from them in my opinion. Thank you for the comment.

I have to agree with you, the Swedish version hits so much harder, especially when you see and hear it come from a crowed of very proud people.
Reading the translation of the Swedish lyrics I think that they are actually more powerful than the english ones.
I'd say, all songs from Carolus Rex, Swedish version has Swedish pov while English version has outside pov
