Good job buddy.... glad to see you washed it off especially with rainbow and a huge pickerel. Although there were a lot of trucks in the lot, it seemed like you were virtually alone out there from the video.
That's a great location, nice job. I Stop a the local Bait and tackle shops before hitting new places, just to keep from getting out gunned on the water. And the two other nearby locations are good too.
Hey Mark, have you considered using a drift sock/anchor? It helps slow down a wind induced drift dramatically ... not entirely however. Good sized pickerel 👍
Brad, I've used the anchor trolley before and don't like it. If I were to use a drift sock it would be the same concept. I don't like the additional snags in the water by my kayak. I've lost a few good salty fish because of them. The mirage drive and a paddle is good for me. I'm used to that system and if you hear me complain...😜 about the wind it's what I do best. I have to blame my inability to catch fish on something 😉.
You look chilled! Brrrr... hearing the wind blowing there. If you catch another of those Pickerels, PLEASE show a close upm they look cool. We catch Pike and the occasional Muskie, which I think are all in the same family.
Great videos man. Born and raised in the Hudson Valley and its so fun seeing youtube videos like yours driving and exploring the area I call home. I'm assumimg you were stationed at Stewart Airport?
So I just came across this video after watching all your other videos, or many of them anyhow, and you used to live in New York? Were you stationed in New York and then moved back home to Texas after you retired?
Hey Mark forget about those thumbs down there's always going to be trolls out there, no matter what you do they are going to give you a thumbs down. you're doing a great job keep it up.
Great vid, fish there often. 👍
Thanks 👍
Its always windy there at Merrill Creek
I live 30 mins from there after watching this video I think i might have to hit this lake up one of these days
Thanks for your service! Also - thanks for the video. I need to get to this water now that I have a kayak to fish from...
Good luck out there!

I was the second to the last truck to leave. So most of the boats left at noon before the winds got really crazy.
I did a tournament there before. I caught one 14” fish in about 10 feet of water. Came in third for the bass tournament
Great video Mark, beautiful place.
It had a lot of visual appeal. That timber should be awesome during the summer.
MDLR Fishing That's for sure!

I plan to go back down to Jersey on the 10th or 15th to fish Round Valley.
Yeah always tough to locate fish on a windy day
Mark, just saw this great video. What is the model of your kayak and what trailer do you use? Thank you.

Will do, next time I catch one. They're a dime a dozen here. I would love to catch a Pike and Muskie, they're on my bucket list.
