Wow this must be a gem 💎 because 14yrs later and the Prime Minister of Barbados is quoting lines from this real song words to ponder #doustillcare 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇧🇧
Such an amazin song writer!!!!...still cant believe she's not famous the whole world ova!!!!! introduced her music 2 my children..(especially my daughters) years ago...amazin woman!
Best female artist and writer in Jamaica. Insightful lyrics , cleverly incorporating sensitive issues that offends none without harboring the wrought of that other community while not looking as if she kissing up to them. Tony rebel, Queen ifreka, Sizzla etc could learn a thing or two about cleverly writing lyrics that don't set off a windstorm of objections while still maintaining your stance on the issue. This is what separates the greats from the rest.
Tanya is the biggest lyricist to ever grace the face of the earth. And I am not saying this because I'm watching her vid. It's just the truth. I LOVE HER MUSIC..........
I can't stop listening to this track!!! Goosebumps on every single word Tanya sings! This track should be heard by every single person on the earth! It puts things in perfect perspective! BIG UPZ TANYA!!!
I listen to this song from time to time and it always touches me deeply......man Tanya hmmmm. This is deep. You are above and beyond my favorite Jamaican artist!
Before today, I have never heard of this singer. But, from only a few moments into her song, I was captured by the heartfelt sadness and the message of her song and in her words. I even played it a few times, just to hear it again and again. What can we [all people] do to put a stop to the hatred and bigotry, once and for all? We can teach our children well, about love and acceptance. But as long as those who hate outnumber - and are more vocal - then those who accept, it can never change. Look at the Westboro church... What are there, 40 of them? Why do we not have 40,000 of us protesting them, in public? Why do we allow them to continue? Why do we allow people, who spew forth messages of inequality, to ever run for office - much less be elected? Why is so much power given to those who are intolerant of others, yet cry, "foul," then their ire is directed in our vicinity... and still do nothing to change it?
She is one of the best Jamaican singer. This album was called rebelution. I never knew about her before this album came out few years ago. I heard her on the radio doing interview before the album came out and I went to the store and I got it The album comes with the cd and dvd and this song was my favor. If you don't have it, I recommend you should get it
One of the most powerful songs ever written. Tanya is one of the best songwriters Jamaica ever produced whether some people wanna accept it or not. A fan for life...gwaan do u ting Tanya love u forever
These lyrics run deep, damn nobody can right a song so touching. Big up on this. Black or White what dies it matter, we all are one as GOD has created us in his image. Jah Bless.
Always excellent material from Tanya Stephens....her music reaches you to the core resulting in honest introspection. She's one of a kind and a gift to us. #messenger
This song is amazing. What passion, thank you Tanya Stephens for sharing your awesome gift with the world. You are an inspiration. I cried when I heard this song! One Love!
From the songs I've heard so far she doesn't toy with lyrics. This song taps reality and she brought the delivery as well. Seeing this is from a 2007 post is a surprise. Thanks.
I haven't hear and I'm for real a song like this one....really everytime i'm listening to it, man!! it makes me cry because there's a lot of people like the ones that she talk about in the song and is incredible how this still could be possible. The first person you should hate is yourself for think that way, for putting a wall between you and somebody else just because you don't think the same way, or because you don't have the same color or relegion.
Great performance. The lyrics are so relevant today, and perhaps will be forever. If only we could open our eyes, we would see how our intolerances make no sense afterall.
There's time when songs getting plenty of air play that don't fit for air playing but I got to say these songs of. Tanya Stephen should be able to play every day!!!
This is a really beautiful song. It's so inspiring to see a reggae artist confronting the issue of homophobia. I wait for the day that a male reggae artist does the same - not saying that her contribution is less than but that male homophobia is one of if not the most serious problem that Jamaica is currently facing.
Especially now, the lyrics are so timely. I just said if India Arie or some other conscious R&B artist did this song it would win a Grammy but outside of the Caribbean and maybe Europe its like she don't exist. She should have been global
Some true words. Growing up In the garrison I never had a choice to choose all my life I was told real boys don't cry and I did have to learn how to fight by myself cause no father was around to teach me how to fight or to defend my mother. But since coming to america I learn to accept people for who they are. As long as they don't try to push there life stly on me
wow tanya i ask the same question........i love you for the thing u preach n u are always in my prayer caz it woman klike u that up lift the black n let them kno we are strong intellectual individual ..so thank u for being u
Unfortunate she isn't global. If an American artist did some of her songs they'd be billboard hits and win Grammys. Lyrical she is one of the greatest, not just Jamaican but period!
