Long Live Orthodox Christianity! Long live Ethiopia and Egypt! We need to strengthen our Christian bonds of our two ancient and apostolic sister Orthodox Churches of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church (EOTC) and the Egyptian Coptic Church.

*Here are about 30 differences between COPTIC & EOTC*
As an Ethiopian Orthodox servant and having attended several Coptic liturgies, and from theological research on both churches, I can tell you we the EOTC have SO MANY differences.
      *Dogma Differences*
      1. We believe that Saint Mary was born stainless immaculate conception - (Coptics believe she was born with sin)
      2. We believe that Saint Mary has no sin or nature to sin after birth as well
      *Jewish Practices*
      1. We have Ark Processions year-round
      2. We abstain from all unclean food (pork, shrimp, crab, etc)
      3. We do no enter church if we are unclean (men and women)
      4. We wear all white shawls (Netelas) as a symbol of Christ’s Resurrection and spiritual purity
      5. We have a shoeless entry (not just during communion)
      6. We abstain from any modern instruments (piano, guitar, etc)
      7. We have 81 books in the Bible (Coptics have 74)
      8. We go of Halachic Jewish Time (Fasting entry and exits are based of our sun and star movements (Twilight) and our hours are reversed (12=6, 9=3)
      9. We observe Friday evening and Saturday as the Sabbath (in addition to Sunday)
      *EOTC Belief System*
      1. We abstain from any fish on fasting days (It is a meat - 1 Cor 15:39)
      2. We eat starting at 3pm on fasting days
      3. We fast 296 days of the year (including Tsige & Pagume Fast)
      4. Women are not allowed to wear pants only ankle length dresses
      5. We never imprint (wear) icons of saints on clergical or any other clothes
      6. We have a 2-priest liturgy system unlike Coptics
      7. We close curtains during significant moments
      8. To be a Deacon you must be a unmarried virgin
      9. We have 14 liturgies (Coptics have 3)
      10. We celebrate all 33 feasts for Saint Mary and all 18 feasts of Jesus with millions in attendance year round
      11. We have Hymnaries (Mahlet) 4-10 hours short version and 24-48 hours long on Epiphany and Horologions (Sa’tat)
      12. We perform year- round Subae’s (7 days of no food or water)
      13. Believers have continual baptisms year round for healing and forgiveness of sin
      14. We do no eat bread or bring any food inside church (unlike Coptics)
      15. Only men can pour Holy Water
      16. The Holy Trinity Icon is always depicted (Coptics use mostly Jesus and the 4 creatures of the Gospel)
      *Explanation:*
While we didn’t establish a church prior to Coptics, Ethiopia was and is historically known as the First Christian Kingdom and Civilization (Reference: Prophecy Psalms 72: 9-10 along with multiple Church sources shows that one of the three wise man has been confirmed Ethiopian, Acts 8 shows Christianity teaching existed in Ethiopia and Aksum Kingdom predates back to BC showing traces of Christianity prior to Armenian Church). And so while we the EOTC are labeled “oriental” with our sister churches, we are the only orthodox nation who incorporate 4000 year old Jewish customs (Judeo-Christianity) and Jewish forms of worship and tradition into our faith making us really a third type of Orthodox. The reason for this is because we were the only Orthodox country to convert from Jewish to Christian so we hold very sacred information or the “original link” that drives our Christian faith to be more conservative or allows us to have more divine levels of worship (Ark Processions year round, Hymnaries (Mahlet), (Horologions (Sa’tat), Subae (7 days of no food or water), constant baptism, all white clothing, shoeless entry, restraining from pork and any other unclean meat and 296 days of fasting to name a few all makes our orthodoxy unique different and special in every way compared to all other oriental and eastern orthodoxies but most importantly and evidently seen is our love of Saint Mary. Ethiopia is in fact called the Land of Mary.
Thank you have a nice day.
      Blessings in Christ

These are not cultural differences but laws given to us by God. The laws he gave the Jews (Israelites and Ethiopians) would be too demanding for those who came from pagen worship so God gave Egyptians, Indian, Armenia, Greece, Russia and others more lenient observations.

      14. We do not eat bread or bring any food inside church (unlike Coptics)

Dear fellow coptics.abune paulos was illegally politically elected.it caused great harm to abune yesehaq largest eotc arch diocese in the western hemisphere.he was deposed from his position and excommunicated to say no 2 patriarch are legal.no 2 popes.coptic shunned him.i heard him call pope shenoda personally to say stop recapturing his converts in South Africa. They followed me like a dog he would say.there need to be a constant clarity thru reasoning because the Christians are divided by this.abune tekle humanity was a hermit who was forced and fasted to death because Marxist forced patriarch position on him and massacred 100 royal families of king Solomon royal family.ethiopia has kingdavid throne.the tabot of Moses the true cross and many more Jewish ties to Israel like queen of Sheba palace.there must be dialogue.abune yesehaq baptised 45000 rastafarians into orthodoxy after Emperor Haile sent him to evangelize in caribbean.visit jamaica.its being turned with unfinished churches after the political christian poisoned abune yesehaq.he baptised Bob marley who build the selase church in kingston.its massive but unfinished.due to political infiltration.coptic church supported abune paulos.but every disappointment is for a good.i am happy patriarchs are helping and uniting.our enemies are the devils only.abune Matias led a delegation of police to destroy the selase church in Bronx nyc 1998 Aug 9 and scores of choir youths were persecuted by police and some jailed.even pregnant women.nothing came out of it.we don't like to see him as our patriarch.the eotc synod need overhaul.war divided Tigre synod from axum against addis ababa synod ..because tplf was abune paulos main supporter.now a terrorist organisation.i am only on speaking truth.before abune yesehaq die he ask me to tellnit.i was his driver 23 years.i sign petition to have his body buried in jamaica where he preach to men who say Ethiopian Emperor Haile is god.some became priests.he is our new Saint in ethiopian tewehedo church.the Ethiopian tewehedo church was his book he wrote.a testament.evil shall hunt violent men.war must stop.ethnic strife must stop.church fathers fueling the war drums too.i am one of the Rastafarian members who are baptised by abune yesehaq.justice will prevail.he was buried without honor.the king of Ethiopia and abune kyrillos were best friends.they believed in evangelism globally to spread orthodoxy globally to former slaves in Caribbean since 1951.guyana and Trinidad and tobago.abune basilious was first patriarch.may God rest the soul of these saints.and remember Emperor Haile Selase the founder of independent Ethiopian orthodox tewehedo church ordaining bishops by kind Egyptian fathers.God bless the coptic church.i attend in North america

*Here are about 30 differences between COPTIC & EOTC*
Purpose: This was written to educate and give believers a BETTER understanding of the origin of their faith, history and tradition and answer why the EOTC is quite different from other orthodoxies. This should not to be interpreted in the wrong way, unity is important but so is transparency.

✅ ALL ITEMS HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED!

and yet despite all these "d/ces" our bishops don't see them as something to keep us back from full communion with each other. we are praying for reconciliation b/n eastern and oriental orthodox, and we don't need more schismatic thoughts to divide the One true church. most of the list is secondary and cultural issues, who cares?!(we have to focus on the spirit and not the letter)..we have always been one, and I would go as far as to say that the church of Alexandria is deservedly the first among equals from the oriental churches. So with all due respect, let's keep the unity Christ has given us..Christians over all the world are divided as it is, we don't need more. Thank you.

      9. We observe Friday evening, Saturday as the Sabbath (in addition to Sunday)

Coptic church is needed to overhaul the Ethiopian administration of the holy synod.there are ethnic suffering between ethnic strife.look at axum where Moses tabot rests and see how the government allow starvation.look adwa queen of Sheba land abune geerema monastery where he write 4 gospels illustrated in 5th century.the son stood still for his zeal of holiness of the holy spirit.coptic ate ethiopia mother church.they taught janderaba the Ethiopian eunuch converts how to worship in New testament.they used the ark like Jewish days.aba selama frumentius introduced astbha and abraha to the Egyptians as ethiopia was landlocked due to persecution in 2nd and 4th centuries
