Just saying, but a magnet will not rule out stainless steel, it's not magnetic. ;) Try the magnet test on your stainless steel cutlery, if you don't believe me.
Thanks so much for the 18k acid trick cuz I couldn't tell with the orange silver acid. I tested a 1921 Morgan silver dollar I bought loose at a flea market and everything seemed kosher it looked right weight felt right sounded right but I still wanted to test it.
The 18k solution actually dissolves the silver, but as the silver is dissolving it reacts with the solution and produces a silver catalyst. So the line you are seeing is not undissolved metal, but is the catalyst produced after dissolution. 14k and 22k solutions will dissolve the metal too, but will leave no trace catalyst.
I bought the Same brand type test from Amazon. I use pool acid every day. For some reason I don’t think my Jsp acid is as potent as yours;( How to you clean the pad? My pad is super hard to see with both acids. I put the acids on the silver in question and I got better visible results. Bad acid? Bad dark pads? Better to buy direct? Low quality silver? Idk
I like to clean the pad using scotch bright scrub pads or something similar. Mine also might have been more visible, because I put a lot of material on the scratch pad. The more material, the brighter the results. it could potentially also be a case of bad acid, it does have an expiration date, and I would imagine it looses potency over time.
How do you clean off the scratches from the stone? Some came off with soap and water, but some didn't! Also, if you do acid test directly to metal, can you still melt down and use metal after test, or do you need to get rid of that piece? Tia 🙏
I'm not familiar with purchasing from India. Are you able to order from amazon? If so, I put a link in the description where you could order the acid. If you are not able to purchase from amazon, I'm not really sure where else to purchase it from. I apologize for not being of much help.

@@treasuresandadventures is there anyway to test for silver percent with these methods? Already a great help. I bought 150g of dozens of pieces yesterday and was getting extremely frustrated at how my business did it before. So bless you lol
timm- in my experience high silver content meaning 90% or higher will scratch easy kind of like scratching chalk on a chalkboard. When you have to press real hard it could be a lower grade silver. Sometimes silver is marked say 925 but it is less not fake just less silver.
I'm so glad you showed the 18k testing acid. It would appear to be more accurate.
Thanks for the informative vid . Could this method be used to test for purity of silver in silver foil / silver leaf products ?

Depends on the quality. Cheap chinese "stainless " will have some magnetic properties.
I like using 18k acid best also.
Thank you Travis for great video. Oh that pink ring is beautiful! I'm sure I don't have to tell you but I would definitely keep the stone.
Good one this helps now I know a lot of what I thought was silver was not. Uggg lots of blue and turquois I saw.
Glad it helped you!
Thank you 4 the 18k acid on silver suggestion!

I have a silver, nitric acid test kit. The instructions state milky blue indicates 800 silver. You're saying blue is not?
Where can that kit me purchased?

How does fine silver bullion react with with the acid ? Can u make a video for bullion pls :)
Great video. Simple to the point.
How long do you have to wait for the results?
Wow awesome I never knew about the 18 kt so much better than silver on the black stone. Thank you!
Thank you for the infos! Could you tell us how to find out the exact carat? For example if I have a 950 silver and I wanna prove it, Thank you so much
Thanks for video. Great way to test!
No problem, thank you for the support!

I use warm/hot water and dish soap with a metal scrubby. Use circular motions and rinse well I find this works great.
P.s. scrub hard with metal scrubby

What are the Actual Names of those Acids?
Those are nitric acid

Excellent
So how do I do this at home? You have a lab with a kit.
What happens if you put 18k directly on the fake stuff
Wouldn't it do the same to plated?
I think it goes milky color for a few seconds than goes away if it's plated.

The stain on napkin did have the blood red stain just blueish on the outside of the stain
Will that silver acid test also works for 800 German silver?
Yes it will. The 18k gold acid will not give you exact content but if it's marked 800 and turns bluish white it's most likely 800.
Hey I have a 1946 nickel that could actually be silver h0w do I test that
How to get these testing kit

Hey what if when applied to a ring it turns milky?
If you are using 18k acid on the ring, and it turns milky with a blue hue, then it's silver.

Good Vid, shame about the annoying background music
if blue color is nikel
if red that's pure 925
That is way too much scratching your going to leave a mark on that ring
background music sucks
Be a much better video with just straight narration
