15:47 I don't know why more people don't see it this way. People are celebrating Breaking Swipe and Psychic nerf are so shortsighted imo. It does nothing but reduce options in the game, and then you'll see the same complainers complain about the game being boring. We need more options, more viable pokemon, not less.

Yeah the breaking swipe gets rid of steelix at the cost of other mons like hax, ray, helioptile, sceptile etc, giving breaking swipe to steelix was one the dumbest decision niantic took
Every single one of those things has been doing a bit much by just spamming one move. Now they have to think of baiting the higher energy moves. Good. More chances to play the game and flip matches.
Gets rid of steelix, lol.. yes, the move shouldn't have gone too, steelix. But the Nerf only hurts the other mons that needed it. Steelix is annoying, but the nerf is lame. Steelix is still as strong as before..
Stardust is already spent, nerf.
@thegreatgambeeno all those mons are glassy. Glassy mons cannot bait higher energy moves because they are knocked out by the time they reach a higher energy move. The attack drop paired perfectly with their weakness and gave options other than the same old boring bulky mons.

It's actually not a bad season... I've been stockpiling SD so I can be more flexible with my builds (I'm still relatively new to GBL)

If you play Ultra League especially you would understand why steelix NEEDED nerfed, it will still be strong and so will Medi
I play UL as much as anyone, and I would’ve rather have seen more counters before implementing the nuclear option. I find your brazen outlook on damaging nerfs to be disappointing, if I’m being honest.
@@PoGoGrind in the great league steelix beats Diggersby in the 2's in the Ultra League it beat Swampert, nothing brazen about it, aim your disappointment at Niantic because it never should have happened in the first place
The disappointment with Niantic certainly goes without mentioning. However, it’s people such as yourself and others who have a platform to brazenly suggest and advocate for the most extreme and damaging measure to address a perceived issue, that I also find to be disturbing and disappointing. I find that viewpoint to be very weak, unimaginative, and shortsighted.
There most certainly was much better way to go about addressing Steelix that would’ve also injected new and more interesting life into the Great and Ultra League formats. But, you and others chose to advocate for the most damaging route possible, and I find that to be very disappointing.
@PoGoGrind I understand your disappointment, and let's be clear if I was the one making decisions, this would not be the way I would have approached it either.
It has to be said that the way Steelix was buffed put Niantic into a hole, when you have a Pokemon that is already beating the best mudboys and water types in the Great League and Ultra League you are limited in what you can do to nerf Steelix, you cant nerf dragon tail for obvious reasons and buffing Pokemon is clearly not sufficient when Steelix can shield through them.
I think a better approach might have been to lower the damage of breaking swipe, that way the glassy Pokemon can still debuff their way through matches but Steelix counters will be able to reach another move perhaps.
It also needs to be made clear that I am not out here making videos about what Pokemon need to be buffed and nerfed, In my shoutcasts I will jokingly talk about these Pokemon but I am by no means claiming to have the perfect answer and im not one who advocates for nuking every good Pokemon. I enjoy buffs a lot more than nerfs
I think in Steelix's case it created a gameplay loop that is not fun to play, not fun to play against and not fun to watch. It needed to be addressed in my opinion.
Medicham was very strong but I think that is a Pokemon that could have been addressed by adding versatile counters into the meta, however I think we will all see that it will still be top meta and will be more suited to a particular role while still having flexibility to put in damage against counters.
To be clear, I understand and acknowledge that you are not the most egregious proponent of direct nerfs, however I have witnessed you leaning toward that position much more often than not.
With that said, buffing adequate counters has historically been a very effective way of indirectly addressing a particular Pokemon. Buffing adequate counters should always be the first course of action because it is much less damaging, and we all benefit from the positive effects of refreshing and improving a given meta overall. It also allows those who do enjoy playing with that particular Pokémon an opportunity to continue doing so.
Not to mention upholding a bit of respect and regard for those who have put in the time and effort to invest in said Pokemon (Medicham, XL Steelix, ML Rayquaza etc.) I don’t recall seeing you or others in a similar position advocate for that course of action.
Instead, we now have otherwise improved Pokémon that now have to suffer for the sake of one Pokemon, that could have been addressed in a much less damaging manner. Directly nerfing a particular Pokemon’s move set should never be the first course of action, as it is very damaging and regressive overall.
Giratina can learn earthquake, earth power, and aura sphere in e main series lol that'll put steelix in check 😂

I think you are right about medicham. It's quite annoying.
Am I the only person who feels like these seasonal changes are ALWAYS underwhelming? Like, would it be so bad if Niantic actually adjusted Pokémon base stats to cause *actual* meta flips? I feel like the PvP in this game will always just boil down to a constant rotation of a select group of “OP” Pokémon near the top of each league’s meta, and sure a lot of that can likely be blamed on TPC making certain types flat out better than others, but Niantic can do more to change things around if they really wanted to do it. They just want to give reasons for people throwing money at raids and eggs. Sad.
It kinda would be bad because ultimately if you adjust stats, you adjust CP. If CP gets adjusted, people who have pokemon already built may not be eligible anymore, making all of that dust you poured into that mon a waste. Unless Niantic is willing to give out more dust so people can make those adjustments and accommodations (they arent willing spoiler alert) you can’t really adjust stats without backlash.
@@coopertrooperz21 Also, it's not just dust. It's hunting down the "ideal" pvp IV spread, and don't think about it in Medicham level. Think about it in an UL Registeel level after you've invested a bunch of XL to build that legendary.
It's one of those reasons why all that Level 60 talk seems unlikely - but even this is more plausible than a stat adjustment.
While I am sad about Breaking Swipe, I am just happy that Steelix is getting nerfed. It was just too oppressive to face up against, especially in Ultra League. Anyway, I don't have one built myself, so I'm just happy that it's no longer a menace that irritated me last season. It's still pretty much potent tho.
