Thanks for doing the leg work. I know the thread got a bit heated on Reddit but glad you guys sorted it out. For my part I just always assumed it was a tint of some kind due to previous research into industrial plating decades ago, that generally it's not cost effective to have multiple plating lines. But it's great to have proper confirmation from the source itself.
I was actually surprised that Zippo answered my inquiry quite quickly. The lady I spoke with on the phone from Zippo's customer service department was really informative and answered my questions thoroughly.
When the poll I had made was 50/50 as to whether rose gold zippos were real rose gold or not, figured it would be a good time to make a video about it.
When I made a poll and saw that half of the votes were for believing rose gold was real rose gold, I figured I should make a video explaining what I had learned from Zippo themselves.
Dude thank you so much for clearing that up. The next quandary is this: are the Antique Silver and Antique Copper models actually coated with silver and copper? If the silver model is coated with silver like the older “silver plate” models, then why on earth would they stop using the “silver plate” stamp on the bottom?
Thank you for yor comment. From what I've been told, the antique silver and antique copper do not have either silver or copper in them. I'll check with other collectors to verify this, yet I am pretty sure about it.
Lucas Lighters had some for sale that sold out already according to their site. Listed at $125. Wether they actually had any or are just getting their site prepared for when Zippo does finally release them, I do not know. Hasn't been made available on Zippos site yet though. I'm hoping pretty soon.
Well that's disappointing but makes sense. I guess they call it "rose gold" just for the color, since "rose gold plated" would imply it was plated with actual rose gold.

@@zippolyonsden1623 Thanks!
@@randy25rhoads very welcome.
I wonder of the $150 script collectible is real gold
No, the rose gold Zippo Script design is just a tint variation of their high polish chrome. I also own that one as well.
Any word on that rose gold collectible coming out?

Just found out from Chuck at Riley's 66 that they now have the new Armor Rose Gold with Rose Gold insert for sale on their website. About $128.

I was a bit disappointed with the news myself as well. Yes, you are correct, rose gold just refers to the chrome color used.
@@zippolyonsden1623 They could avoid a lot of confusion if they just changed the description to "golden rose" or something instead.
