Let's build the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-C in 1:1400 Scale from AMT! A What If? build from Aligning The Stars.
Its time my friends! I have engineered and created a custom lighting kit for the deflector dish, nacelles and impulse engines on my USS Enterprise NCC 1701-C. Today, I will finish the custom lighting piece by installing and assembling the engineering section and the nacelles.

Looking great Jordan. Those lights really bring the kit to life. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks Ken! This really is turning out great. It's fascinating how much I've learned since starting this model kit.

Thanks Ian! Wish I had planned to light this from the beginning. Gonna build another Ambassador Class is the future out of one of the translucent kits.

My go to method is to fully assemble before paint. That way I can make sure seams are good right from the start, and I run into fewer light leak issues, as seams are fully primed and base coated.

Thats a great tip! It's funny. I started this model back in January and I had no idea what I was doing. LOL. I'm definitely changing my approach to building going forward. Build, seal and then paint. Thanks Andrew!!!

Hey man. Looking great so far. I do this on the cheap side and ca glue seems to work fine. You just have to be precise and careful. Keep a bit of baking soda on hand. Sprinkle it on the glue for instant plastic when you need to fill a hole or gap. You can file, sand and paint it just like normal plastic. You can build it up drop by drop, glue, baking soda, glue, baking soda, and so on until you have enough material to work with.

A lot of the tricks and tools used in guitar making are useful in model making. At least for me anyway.

I find the overlap with models and other hobby things to be quite vast. But, guitar making (I play and have a vintage strat) is not what I would have figured. Lol. I'll have to look into that as I find the making of instruments to be very interesting.
