God I love Bill Maher, he is probably my favourite american comedian of all time.

While I’m prepared do concede that Maher can be pompus and condescending I do have some respect for him. This is one of the reasons why. He doesn’t cow down to the overly PC liberals and I say this as someone who like Maher is liberal. We need more similar people like him over here in the U.K. Where I’m from because seriously, this country is going to the dogs as far as our freedom of speech being compromised with this nonsense. Maher funnily enough had a wonderful conversation with John Cleese on Real Time where they discussed political correctness. It can be found here on TH-cam for those who haven’t seen it and Cleese sums up the hypocrisy and double standards that can be prevalent in contemporary western society.
The fact-checking part with Rolling Stone had me legitimately laughing out loud. :D

I dont understand, just a few months ago we stood behind Charlie Hebdo for freedom of expression, but now we get upset over a comment made on a satire show, which wasn't even about his religion, it was about the way he looks. Wow people are hypocrites. It's good Bill stood by his joke. Funny how he has to explain it.

Well we will agree to disagree on his religion part, but that still doesn't change the fact that it was just a joke. There are plenty jokes made about Christians and Jews, but news companies and people dont make a big thing about it. If you are for freedom of speech you can't censor people just when it makes you feel bad.
