  • Julie's iPhone 12 Pro went through the lawnmower. Only then did she realize the last pictures of her late father, and her daughter's first words were still trapped on the phone's hard drive chip. This was the first iPhone 12 Pro we've seen and we learned that working on the 12 Pro has some special challenges!

    Your help is indispensable for those that have neglected to backup years worth of very important data. Every time I watch one of your videos I'm reminded to backup my photos and videos on my PC so I don't get a heart attack if my phone ever gets destroyed. I hope to never need to be one of your data recovery customers. ;)

    My anxiety skyrocketed watching you handle a phone with a battery looking like that :o

    • @tschuuuls486
      @tschuuuls486 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there is not much of a risk if the battery is either completely discharged or already punctured which will reduce the capacity to almost nothing.

    • @LazorVideosDestruction
      @LazorVideosDestruction 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tschuuuls486 well considering it doesn't look very burned where it's sliced it's safe to assume it's still fully charged (or I should say it still has some charge left, it might have been half dead or fully dead when the incident happened)
      I use the same mentality as one would with downed power lines. Always assume it's still live!

    • @MentalEdge
      @MentalEdge 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LazorVideosDestruction A punctured lithium cell will not hold a charge. Unless it catches fire soon after the event that punctures it, which it usually does as this almost always internally shorts the electrodes, causing the energy in the cell to be dumped as heat. But, if this heat does not reach levels of combustion, it won't suddenly catch fire later. As the electrolyte inside evaporates and/or the cell is shorted, the energy is dissipated and the cell eventually goes inert.
      So, once it cools down, if didn't catch fire by then, the cell is that point definitely empty.

    • @LazorVideosDestruction
      @LazorVideosDestruction 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MentalEdge You have a very good point with the electrolyte leaking out or evaporating. I would still be wary though, just in the off chance that there is still some electrolyte deep in the back of the cell away from the puncture, not that that's likely.
      I'm certain though that it's possible for a battery to still hold a charge shortly after being punctured. In some videos you see, where people stab batteries, they sometimes just make a spark or two and a bit of smoke, but no thermal runaway. Probably because the huge surge of current blows open the short (somehow without fully igniting the cell).
      Now whether this level of shreddage compares to a tiny stab is obvious: It doesn't. But like I said, it would still freak me out to have that thing in my hands lmao.

    FWIW, there are polycarbonate razor blades. Not as stiff but won't cut like a metal one does.
    Also, most adhesives will thin or release with naphtha, zippo lighter fuel, better than they will will isopropanol.
    Two things that you might want to take a quick cheap look at.

  • @pr0xZen

    The vileness goes deep with Apple. Looks like that screw is intentionally as long as it can be. So that even if you can loosen it, you cannot fully unthread it from the side with tweezers because its head hits the battery before it is far enough out to extract from the side. At which point even if willing to take the risk of pushing into the battery, no tweezers (that will fit) will be able to get enough purchase on the screw to turn it, to overcome the friction of pressing the head into the battery.
    I'm thinking there's gonna be a lot of board repair + battery replacement "bundles" for these models.

    Your rant was really without merit. Apple provided pull tabs to make battery removal easier than Samsung who just glue their batteries in amd simple screws to remove the 5G anchor. It wasn’t that bad and you tried to make it seem like it was impossible to repair. You could’ve used a device to reprogram the mew battery and cameras and display to work with the old board and you could’ve given your customer a fully working phone back. I wish you would’ve let your audience know that. Now because of your stupid rant people who don’t know any better are going to complain about Apple about problems that do not exist. You should do a retraction video. I’m not saying apple should be given a pass but I,don’t think hate should be dished out on anything that isn’t deserved. If you want to complain, complain about real crap like serialized components that can’t be replaced unless you have a device that can copy the serial numbers from the old components to the new components. That is something to complain about. I rather like the fact that the antenna is screwed down to the frame with a bracket rather than tape as the 5G antenna has a precise location in the phone case it needs to radiate and receive from that little plastic sheet on the side of the phone.

    This means the iPhone 12 Pro was restored from a backup from before with ALL this sentimental media. Why not just buy a new phone or file an insurance (homeowners) or AppleCare+ claim and restore the new one from the same backup as the damaged one?
    The timeline doesn’t add up here, Julie is lying or is at bare minimum incompetent when it comes to how backups work.
