      Request noted. Though I must say that it would not be the type of video I like to do.
      The MondoFarms Channel is about our journey to establish and develop our farms. All the ups and downs we have along the way.
      The very technical stuff is included as part of the package and not presented directly on its own.
      There are plenty of other technical videos on TH-cam done by real experts, which already do a better job than I ever could.

    Seeing that you planted this paticular onion crop during the rainy season, wha are some of the measures you took to succeed with it.

      @mondofarms4343  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Tendai. Thanks for your several questions about the onion. Sadly, we struggle to answer your detailed questions effectively.
      These videos were from back in 2021-22, which was some time ago for us in farming terms.
      We haven't grown any onion since then, and as you see from our more recent videos, we now focus on other crops.
      All we can advise you to do is watch the videos and get as much as value as you can from them.
      Thanks for your support.

    hello, thank you very much for all his videos.. drip can be cultivated with onions... and can you give me the distance between the lines of the ducts. and the maximum put of the drip ducts on the ridges. ... because I want to know to do better also at home .... thank you.

      @mondofarms4343  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kelton. Thanks, but that is exactly what I was talking about at the end of the video at about 25min onwards. It is a challenge that I increasingly face where I am not able to get into very technical advice. Our channel is simply sharing the farming journey.
      I'm sure you will find someone more suited to deal with the technicalities of your particular situation.
      All the best.

    All the way from Tanzania.i would realy love to see the outcome of the direct planted onions . The ones you planted using a planter. How was the harvest. The size of the bulb too.. How do you rate the planter from 0 to 10??
    Thanks

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. We have other videos later in the series that shared what happened later on, including the harvests.
      The planter was very helpful, though we had some learning curves with getting to use if optimally.

    Hello my brother. Thank you for the post. With respect to your onion spacing did you mean 5 centimeters or 5 inches?

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're most welcome. You have made me think a bit because it's been a while since we were on the onion adventure. But I'm sure it was centimeters.
      We're quite metric here and rarely refer to measurements in imperial.

  • @stevenmufichani7894

    Very informative sir.
    Inspirational.
    So there is no use of granular Fertilizers, in all your onion project this season.
    I heard you say that in the old video. But using forlia right?

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steven,
      we do use granular from time to time. It has been hard adjusting to the increased prices. A year ago, we would pay K440 for a 50kg of ETG Veg Top 24, and it now costs K880!! That requires some thought and change in strategy, especially since product prices don't seem to really go up with input costs.
      Besides, the foliar fertilisers we apply have worked almost as well as we make the best of the new situation.

    • @mondofarms4343

      @mondofarms4343  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Adnan.
      Botj methods are fine according to your circumstances.
      Sadly, the truth is that our whole onion ended rather poorly, with no proper financial returns after all that effort. It was due to timing challenges, but at least we learned a lot of painful lessons.

    • @mondofarms4343

      The market was flooded by the time we harvested. next time we grow onion, we will work hard on our timing.

    How many sacks of 10kg can I harvest per hectare

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on so many factors, including which variety you plant, how you feed and protect it, weather, weeds, etc.
      I have struggled to apply such an accounting based approach to our farming.

    re: how much can you earn, onions in my area is typically 25 tons per hectare, now onions sell for +_ 38 to 45 rand/pesos... per kilo, your labour is high in begiining, is a lot to plant by hand, with planter is much lower, ( so labour ) 76K rands, per hectare, planter 13 K per hectare, net profit at 45 rand per kilo at the farm gate, = 970 000 per 25 tons +_ picking is labour intensive, by hand, more expenses, with machine labour comes down 64%.

    This man is well educated, but he explains in lay men's terms, i like it!
    i grow onions as well, my germination is done outdoors as well but in a small cabinet with space for 800 onions, the cabinet lid is C through plastic, they germinate in 5 to 7 days, due to high humidity in the cabinet as well as the higher temperature, they grow up really fast, within 2 weeks is time to plant them out in the bed's , you can try it as well. small grid farming is a lot of fun.
