I remember reading Juliet Marillier when I was young, they were an inspiration to me and showed me how to be a strong woman, I also got my daughter to read them when she was at a appropriate age and she loved them too. Thanks Tori and Juliet, I’m now going to go and reread all of those books again. 🥰
I'm very late to this but I just finished Daughter of the Forest, which was great - probably the best character work I've read this year. Nice interview!
Great interview! I really like that you let Juliet really talk and not rush her, it was really nice getting to hear her story and her answers in depth. And yay a new book series! I hope this series gets published in the UK where I'm based! (Also, book tour in the UK please?) I'm really sad to hear that publishers aren't willing to publish the new stories she's come up with. I would honestly read anything Juliet Marillier publishes, I fell in love with her style of writing when I was a teenager in the 2000's, I started with the two Wildwood books (And those covers were beautiful!) and have been secretly hoping for a third ever since. I delved into her Sevenwaters series, then Heart's Blood (Which I agree was a brilliant book with Beauty and the Beast elements), and I've read nearly every series by her since! I don't think there's really anyone out there that can write books the way Juliet does with historical fiction / historical fantasy. There's this feeling you get when you're deep into her books, I do wonder if it has to do with her voice in her books, the language and prose, and the cadence of her stories. I always feel like I'm transported back in time, and it's not something I often feel with many other authors. Very excited for her website revamp so I can sign up to a newsletter!
Thank you so much for watching! I was so honored to have her on the channel and she had so many beautiful insights into her craft. Publishing is always a fickle industry, but I'm glad she's found an outlet to publish her new work, and I hope we can all get copies of it on this side of the globe. She does have a really ethereal, magical atmosphere in her work!
OMGGGG I LOVE HEEEEEER, I BASICALLY LEARNT ENGLISH TO READ HER BOOKS CAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE NOT TRANSLATED TO SPANISH :CC. HOPE SHE READS THIS, I´M FROM CHILEE
Thank you Tori: Last evening I heard my all time favorite author and friend, Juliet Marillier speak about her work and her upcoming new two book series due out in 2025! To my great delight and oh so very humbled by her voice, she named me twice! during the broadcast. Once as a friend, then as a poet that inspires and influences (believe me this is mutual!) her own life and writing. I think I was stunned the rest of the way until I got a glimpse of her beloved pup Rocky, who lay patiently at her feet. In 2022, Juliet graciously blurbed my book "Where the Deer Sleep" (Hermit Feathers Press). I have every book available in print that Juliet ever wrote! I go to her stories when I need to heal...I shall continue for as long as she keeps writing because her books have become a part of my self and yes, the Magic really works! Just ask Pindar, head of the "Crow Folk" in my forest! Tori was a great interviewer as well! Grace filled evening Juliet!
Hi Jenny :) Thank you so much for watching the interview and for your lovely comments. Those beautiful mutually inspiring relationships are such a gift. Even after reading just one book, I love your description of going to her stories when you're in need of healing... the power that storytelling holds is amazing! Wishing you all the best, and I look forward to reading some of your poetry!
Wow! I look forward to the release of The Amber Owl. Sounds fasinating and I love the name Heartwood, very enchanting. Definitely adding this to my TBR list. Great interview!
I so wanted to watch this live so I could ask questions but it was 2AM for me and I fell asleep 😢. Really hope the new series gets published in UK. But anyway I just wanted to thank Juliet for giving me 25 years of reading pleasure and I hope there are more years to come 😊
Thank you for watching the replay! Time zones are so hard to work around sometimes. :( I'm so glad that you've loved Juliet's books, even after reading one of them I can see why. Have a wonderful week!
@@ToriTalks2 awesome! They’re my favourite of hers, but I never hear anyone talk about them. Also love the dark mirror trilogy. I’ve read almost everything of hers, except all of the YA
Wow, Tori, what a beautiful interview. Must be one of my faves you have done so far! I have only read DotF so far, but lately I have been itching to get back to Marillier's works, and this only made me more excited. Also really interesting to hear about her shift to more indie publishing recently, I am looking forward to what new stuff she has in store! Thanks for sharing 🥰

I'm so glad you had such a positive experience with them. :) It's so amazing to be able to introduce our kiddos to our favorite fantasy stories!
