The JR EAST E653-0 series was originally used on the Joban line💕. The E653-0 is a type of EMU express train limited to dual voltage DC 1.5 kV and AC 20 kV 50 Hz, designed to replace the entire 485 series. Unlike the 651 series, the E653-0 is designed for short-distance operation. It consists of 12 four- or seven-car units built by Hitachi Kinki Sharyo and Tokyu Car Corporation between 1997 and 2005. Until the introduction of the E657 series, E653.0 trains operated as Limited Express Fresh Hitachi trains between Ueno and Katsuta from 1997 to 2013. Originally planned for JR East's business areas, they were to be reactivated north of the Joban line, but the company abandoned this project after the 2011 tsunami. The trains are back in service after the E653.0 series was rebuilt into the seven-car E653-1000 series in 2013 and the four-car E653-1100 series in 2015 (replacing the 485 series). The E653-1100 series is used for the Shirayuki service between Niigata and Arai. The E653-1000 series, in the colors of JR East Line's Limited Express Joban, pays tribute to tourist attractions in Ibaraki Prefecture. The E657 Revival Color Series, with fresh Hitachi colors such as "K1 Blue Ocean", also pays tribute to the Pacific Ocean. Other models in the E657 Revival Color Series include K2 Daffodil Yellow pays tribute to the flowers of Hitachi Seaside Park; K3 Persimmon Orange pays tribute to the autumn leaves around Fukuroda Waterfall; K-12 Scarlet Blossom is inspired by Kairakuen Garden; K-17 is inspired by Kasumigaura Lake; Congratulations! Have a nice day!
