Sanyos have always been a huge favourite mine. I think they really nailed everything about the fans, from appealing looks, quiet operation, robust materials, and also great reliability.
Wow so good to see this fan again we had this fan in the 80s to we bought it brand new my mom back then bought it and we put it up on the wall but when it needed oil because my parents did not know including me althohgh i was kid of course lol about oiling a fan they threw it out. but good video and can't wait to see part 2 servicing the fan. the blades look just like the ones on my 1977-78 galaxy
Nice, that's really cool! It's unfortunate that these Japanese fans are quite prone to seizing up or running slow. A good chunk of Lasko/Galaxy's designs originated from Sanyo, so the blade geometry might actually be the same!
Sanyo fans do look so nice for their time. Other than the clip and the slightly bent grill slits, the condition is nice as well. It is very interesting when there is a backstory to fans when you get them. I believe pifco sold similar designed fans in the UK.
Yeah I also like hearing the stories of the fans I acquire! I think this particular generation of Sanyo fans had a very timeless design. Still looks relatively modern for a fan that is about 40 years old. I remember watching your video of the 10" Pifco. It certainly does have a very similar base design.
I have a 16 inch Sanyo of that style with more spread out grills, someday I'm hoping to find a Sanyo made in Japan where mine was from Mexico and the blue Canadian market one must have been made in canada.
I think many Sanyo fans from this year range were made in Mexico, while the earlier ones were made in Japan. Most of the Lasko and Sanyo fans that were "made in Canada" were still mostly built in their originating countries. Perhaps some of the final assemblies were done in Canada.

Couldn't agree more! Japanese fans were truly among the best.
I loved the super technical explanation at 10:52!
I always gotta babble on about things like that lol!

@ exactly that’s though that’s cool Sanyo was the 1st do that design
I can not wait for the 2024 Fan Collection video
Stay tuned ;)
Very nice! I have the 16 inch version and it is very quiet.
Thanks! I remember watching your video on it!

I got a Sears made by Sanyo just like this with the same color but it’s a pedestal version with the buttons on the floor base
Nice! Those pedestal versions are really hard to come by.
Very nice
Thanks! :)
Cool!
Thanks!
Do you still have that others one branded Sears
Yep
Maybe you’ll have 200 Fans in the 2024 Fan collection video
That's ambitious, but unlikely lol
kinda color rusty but its a great vid
I just sold one of these but the Sanyo Sleep Maker Australian/NZ version for $60!
Nice!
Any videos of that one?
@@TheMatsushitaMan No unforchanetly!
Only the 80s Matsushita fans have riveted motors, the 70s ones are beefier and use screws.
