  • My 2003 had the common "sluggish start" when the engine is hot. That eventually got worse and recently it wouldn't start at all.

    Check the magnets inside the starter motor . The glue that holds the magnet comes lose. The magnets break up small peaces jam the starter motor . I had this last week . It's a easy fix .

    I'm bloody glad I stumbled across this old vid, having the exact same problem on my RZ Busa '03 with only 9000miles on it, when the thing is in traffic in 80*....the 10 times a year we have it LOL, the fkr will not hot start, I may have just found the problem, great stuff from the UK.

      @@chicocop4774 On hot days the engine gets like a fkn furnace in slow traffic to the point of me almost fitting a manual overide switch for the fans, when I notice It, I turn it off and THEN the fkn fans/fan kicks in, i've never been confident of this thing and I've owned it 13 years
      I put bars off a moto-x bike on it so its easier to ride, going to look at the starter as well, the thing runs fine in normal temps and has never boiled over or lost water, it will start after 10mins rest, no problem,
      4 years I've put up with this so thanks once again for the vid. Cheers, Mark

      @@markholroyde9412 look into the temp switch. Schnitz racing sells one that turns the fans on at a lower temp. It seems to help mine.

    did it start when you jump it im having the same issue just replace stator and rectifier now when i go to start it it acts if the battery is dead but i have a new battery and fully charged pleasevlet me know

    • @chicocop4774
      @chicocop4774  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      306jah ... when I try and jump it it still acts as if the battery is dead. I even tried using 2 batteries on12V setup and still nothing. But I'm thinking it may be the starter. When removed from the. Ike the starter does spin but I don't know if it has the torque to start the bike. Also I'm thinking the rectifier might be bad. So for now I still have a 550 pound paper weight. But I plan on getting back to working on it soon. I will post as many vids about it as possible. By the way I have moved to Florida so I will be posting an update vid on the cooling mods I have already done after I get it running

      +John Epps yes I was searching for new or used starter covers but man are they expensive. then I remembered I had some aluminum repair rods (the ones you welding with a Map Torch) so gave it a shot.I haven't confermed if its gonna work but yes I will show what I did and how it all goes back together soon.

      Chris Olson more like the battery. Or stater. Have the battery checked if not check the starter.

    Clean all the loose magnet fragments and buy super strong glue . I used a 2 part spray activated glue . It activates the old glue also , so got a strong fix . Cleaned all brushes and greased the bearing . Starts 1 st time . This must be a comman fault as it is comman on TH-cam . Should of been a recall as Suzuki would of known ( bad design ) .

    just for info purposes, my bike is a 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa with less then 15,000 miles. I Keep it outside with a rain cover. but i do ride in the rain and the bike has been rained on several times. at this point i'm hoping its the starter O-ring letting water in.. Note::: the water/Oil gunk was mostly in the Upper part of the starter clutch cover. i'm not really sure if the O-ring caused it or moisture from someplace else became vapor and settles at the highest point it could reach without beign washed into the fluid Oil = upper part of the covers.i did change the oil recently and it looked ok.

      it could be condensed water if you drive it by cold weather/short distances

  • @e2350

    Got the no start problem too... Do I need to drain my oil before I take the cover off

    • @OandD4ever
      @OandD4ever 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +John Epps no I didn't but I do recommend ordering a gasket set. as soon as I removed the cover the gasket was damaged.

      +John Epps by the way before I realized this was the problem I did all the common stuff to reduce heat.I added a second fan, changed the radiator temp switch, I have vids on those if you want to look at them.
