There are no boy groups that really sing and dance live like this these days. At that time, TVXQ sang with a long breath on stage even though they lacked breathing than the sound source and were unstable with dance, and the dance was not just easy to follow, addictive, and fragmentary movements like nowadays, but also a dance that made use of the characteristics of the genre faithful to the basics. I think it was a beautiful stage released by the five young people shining on the scorching midsummer stage.
A-nation was an open air festival held in summer, so it was hot and humid, i think it made it even more exhausting for them. Saitama, on the other hand, is the indoor dome, so the temperature was controlled. Summer dream was an encore song, they were wearing the tour t-shirts.
They used to released this kind of happy summer song every year, duo still do that, but unfortunately, as you said happy songs not so popular now.

Thank you for your reactions, and you're so right about this style of happy upbeat songs sadly going out of fashion, I LOVE this style but people kind of talk about it like it can't be great music or can only be good for kids, I'm so happy to see you sincerely appreciate these songs while pointing out their musical qualities, even when they can be very cheesy sometimes lol
Really miss fun song like this, it's still one of my favorite karaoke songs 😂 I put it in my workout/chores playlist for instant good mood (because I'll start singing along)

i think in kpop and jpop you can still find more happy lighthearted songs like this today, although the production and style would more modern of course. western pop music is def more cynical now though. that's why carly rae jepsen's music is a breath of fresh air plus the production is rly good

A-Nation 2009 is after three of them filed a lawsuit to terminate their contracts with SM Entertainment. But this did not affect their performance, their mood.

I offer you a reaction idea - Begin MV→ Begin Tokyo Dome → Begin TVXQ2 → Begin JYJ.
It is the only song to be performed by the quintet, then by the duo, and then in 2014 by JYJ.
To answer some of the questions:
1) The end of Summer Dream was them copying whatever Junsu did which varied each performance but I think there was a set he would choose from.
2) The Saitama performance was for their T album tour. Summer Dream was during the encore and the shirts they're wearing are the tour t shirts. It was like the 20th song on the setlist.

Creo que hubiera sido perfecto escuchar primero la presentación del T tour y luego la de A-nation porque así fue cronológicamente. Junsu es conocido por hacer la pose del ángel Junsu desde The way you are, hasta ahora lo sigue haciendo porque se lo piden y le queda bien.
It's better live, but never one of my favs. It's just kind of choppy? As "beachy" numbers go I prefer "Picture of You".
This song is such a vibe!! I remember watching every performance only to laugh at what new steps Junsu will make the other members do hahah
Also on the second you watch (a-nation) they were super tired because of their tour and because of the summer heat at that time and even though their vocals are not perfect, I still prefer those fun lives 🥰

Lovely reaction! I love both live performances, though Jaejoong laughing in the first one makes it my favorite! Also, he does more ad-libs while copying Junsu's moves and I love that you can see it is completely live!
About their vocals, while they should be way more tired in the second performance, as it is towards the final part of a whole concert, 2009 which is the year of the A-Nation performance, was a brutal year for them: 2 full albums which needed promoting, lots of singles, activities in both Korea and Japan at the same time, the Mirotic Asia Tour and The Secret Code Japan Tour happening one after the other... There's a reason 2009 was the year the finally filed the lawsuit. It got to a point where it was inhumane the way they were being handled by their company.
They were super vocalists with amazing technique, yes, youth on their side and very profesional towards their passion job, and they managed to sound amazing under any circumstance because they gave it their all; that's why their company figured they could keep going like this forever. Yet they were human and their passion for singing couldn't beat the mistreatment they received. So happy they got out :)
I think Jaejoong laugh is because the specific move Junsu did here(Junsu being cute😆),before they perform this song on stage,Junsu would decide what movements/choreo he gonna do in this part(I've saw Junsu dicuss the choreo with Yuchun in one of their backstage video) and members probably already knew it,so you can see Jaejoong start to laugh even before Junsu really did it😂

This a-nation was a 30 minutes performace according to the DVD,Summer Dream was the song they sang before last song in this event.
The second live stage was from their T tour concert in Saitama Super Areana,this song was around the 21st song in this 2.5 hours concert.
In fact, Jaejoong and Max have the lowest parts of quite a lot songs, such as Love in the Ice, My Destiny, Tomorrow Will Come.....
