An all new trailer for Diablo IV was shown during the 2022 Game Awards, featuring Blizzard's signature epic cinematics. Diablo IV is expected to release June 6, 2023.

Well that's Inarius, probable one of the most powerful Arcangels, he went rogue with Lilith and after they mate their offspring became the Nephalem.

The most epic, powerful moment is when Inarius sees Lilith and flies towards her. The music, the singing in the background, the design of his "wings", his follower, that woman look at this with outstretched arms. The effect of how heavy it lands - I get goosebumps. Magnificient cinematic. Inarius effects - this is truly epic.
No matter how this game turns out, the cinematics they’ve been releasing go hard af.
I’d gladly watch a feature-length film of this quality in Dolby Cinema.

The way Inarius is introduced is amazing in every way. The chant, the light bathing the soldiers and illuminating the darkness, everything tells you that an awe inspiring creature approaches, but then, beneath the surface, you notice unsettling details: the chant is discordant, eerie even, and the light is not warm and embracing, it is cold and sterile. He is a creature of light and order, and nothing that does not fit in his order may exist.
The cinematics team needs an award. They're always top notch in the industry.

@@roelfjoubert1128 Check out the CG trailers for Armored Core games. For CG cinematics, Dino Crisis , Parasite Eve, Final Fantasy, Tekken, Onimusha 3 and Halo 2 MCC etc have some really nice stuff. If you want to watch another Blizzard trailer, check out the intro for starcraft 2, its extremely memorable.
My current personal favorites are the intros for Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Since Warcraft 1 and Diablo 1, Blizzard's cinematics have always been mind-blowing. This one doesn't disappoint. 10/10

As I know, the chant is in Greek. The first verse (Την ανω εξουσια, pronounced: tin ano exousia) means "the authority/power from above", the middle part (φως προς την εξουσία, pronounced: fos pros tin exousia, means (Light to the authority/power) and the last verse says: (Αορατη εξουσια, pronounced: aorati exousia) meaning the invisible authority/power.
It makes sense in the way that the Angels are a higher power/authority that resides in the High Heavens. As they chant this invocation, Inarius, unseen, suddenly reveals himself illuminating all around him.

Not afaik, our hymn are usually of Christian orthodox content, that’d be a very tricky situation to navigate, but, our language is ancient enough to fit the theme of an OG language in Sanctuary
Fits perfectly actually to go with Greek in this case instead of Latin. Even though of course Diablo is the christian mythos, the angels in the game resemble Greek gods more than the christian god. They are arrogant, vain, angry and selfish. They resemble humans in many more ways than the christian god does, much like the ancient Greek gods did.
P.S. I am a Greek native and could absolutely not tell this was greek lol.

Cost too much to make. These 1-2 min shorts cost them 5 million to make. A 1.5 hour movie would prob cost more 200 million.

@@GordonSeal When was this the case? Unless something's changed, blizzard cinematics have been in-house up until the recent Overwatch 2 cinematics. Diablo 2 Remake's cinematics were also presumably Blizzard.

@@darrenong9064 With the amount of staff being laid off or leaving within the last 4 years it's a safe assumption. How else is the work going to be done and schedules maintained? You start running at an employee deficit then the only way to make up the numbers again is to outsource asap and with that invariably comes a drop in quality because they would need the the staff fast and ergo won't be as picky in whom they select for a particular role.

I love how he's such an angelic being that's so high up that the ground trembles and break apart when he touches it.
I can feel the horror elements on this game is making a come back, kinda reminds me of D1 & D2 atmosphere, both is an action packed game but there’s some kind of eerie feeling you feel whenever you play it & that’s why those 2 became so successful.
Sadly you can't base any game from it's cinematic, for if you do, everyone will be sadly disappointed. Just need to wait for actual game play to be release, more importantly gameplay we can all play, to make an informed decision.

The only horror elements in this game are the MTX injected into a full-price retail game. Otherwise it looks blander than an old brick.

The play with light is so badass. How everything is dark and the terror of the demon swarm is revealed by small glimmers of light, and how Lilith is revealed by the light of one of the fireballs. Truly a masterpiece!
Very true. Honestly really emphasizes that chant at the beginning 0:20 and the whole aesthetic of the knights. Hopefully they have a full version of that chant between the priest and soldiers. A legion marching under the light.

I thought there were only 5 archangels (I only played D3). Malthael, Tyriel, Itheriel, I can't remember the other 2, but if Inarius is back (like I thought he would be after seeing Lilith) and an archangel, either D3 left that part out, or angels and demons can rise to higher ranks.

I like how the music in the scene where Inarius' light shines on the knight reflects a sense of deep discomfort, and the way the knights' faces are utterly blacked out can only lead us to believe what they're thinking and feeling, being in the presence of a rogue angel with a taste for blood.

Been asking for a full 2-hour *Diablo 2 movie* for years now.
Heck, even the old *Diablo: Wrath* animated short was AMAZING and deserves its own Netflix show IMO.

I remember walking into CompUSA in the 90s, and playing Diablo in a demo desktop...I was hooked within 5 minutes. Miss those days!
Say what you will about Blizzard, but one you cannot deny is that they have some of the best artists in the world. Their art and world building are just incredible.

The way the light builds up and then ends with an all encompassing beam of light and power with Inarius in its center is amazing. I missed this. The demons are cool but I missed the epic Tyrael vibes.
2:24 This is the main reason I am coming back here. The fact he just moves so fastly towards Lilith is not just so badass but also so epic. Blizzard show us in this trailer how powerful Tyrael is. Also the face expressions of Lilith are so good.

I love how both sides perfectly show the difference between Light and Dark. The Knights are perfectly disciplined, ordered and steadfast, while the Demons are savage, unorganized and bloodthirsty.

As a fan of the lore, this is awesome. Though, in a way, the human perspective would be mom and dad fighting again. I am so excited as a lore fan.

I really love how they showed how fanatical and devoted the woman was. It didn't matter if she was about to die, she was just doing her best to worship and serve. We saw a lot of that in the previous games with people serving the Prime Evils, but not really with the Angels. It is really awesome to see that parallel.

I've been watching these LEGENDARY Blizzard trailers since I was a kid. Thought my 7 year old son might like to see one. All he could say when the trailer ended was.. "I want MORE!".

It will be good to see the restoration and return of Inarius as he was the only Angel that could stop her. Tyrial is mortal and the rest of the Counsel is still humbled by the betrayl of Maltheal. This should be an interesting game.
Big bet Inarius will attack the High Heavens because of how weak they are and because, yknow, the High Heavens are the ones who handed him to Mephisto which resulted in his nearly eternal torture under his unhappy Father-In-Law

It's not just the quality of this cinematic that's so good, but that they really deliver on the dark mysterious ambience that Diablo delivers when at its best. Really makes me hope for the best from D4 :) Well done to everyone involved in this one.
the cinematic was beautiful yes, but let not forgot how bad D3 was at launch and for well past that, as well as how greedy blizzard has become. I do not have my hopes up for this game, i'm worried it's going to be all hype and no sustinance, and this time, i most certainly will not be buying at launch, ill be waiting nearly a year before even considering it

So it seems we will get quality all around , i remain cautiously optimistic. I fallowed closely the development of D4 and i really hope this game will be the start of Blizzard redemption arc .

Unfortunately the cinematics are the only fully developed features in this game.

I forgot that angel’s name, but I know it isn’t Tyrael. It’s the angel who helped Lilith create Sanctuary, meaning the story of Diablo might end up coming full circle here. Let’s just hope Blizzard does the story justice.

It does. The reveal trailer also have a frame of Inarius being tortured by Mephisto as Lillith is was being summoned back to Sanctuary. This game seems like its going to be going very very heavy into the background lore

this may probably indeed(?) be an ancient flashback.
but this scene has to be happening during in the attempt to banish her away a 2nd time. due to the 'cathedral of light' faction not yet existing during when inarius first banished her.

This is what the Diablo is supposed to be about. People with conviction and grit trying to survive in a world of horrifyingly powerful creatures. Not the story of some chosen one mowing down legions of monsters by himself.
Not just on that alternative version of the Earth, for those 'nephalems' or even the diablo verse's version of the angelic forces themselves....
Well your character has to be able to mow down legions of monsters by himself and then defeat Diablo, there's no way around that.

If u mean more in-game cinematics I wouldn't hold out much hope. I mean look at Reaper of Souls - one intro cinematic, no mid cinematic, no end cinematic just a lame 2.5D render. Sure it was only one very short chapter (Act V) but that showed they didn't have time to finish the game properly. The time management of such things hasn't gotten any better since then. For your wallet's sake I hope I'm wrong

especially his high supernaturally-looking angelic light energy not being too much bright golden. this one is visually portrayed as a bright pale white.
