Cmaas86 The only thing I find more obnoxious than the ridiculous subcategorization of music (or boxing as you put it) is when people flip shit about the subcategorization when no one was even doing it. They were saying it's stylistically similar to a specific artist, not that it fits in whatever subgenre or "box." That's like if I heard a new song by Scar Symmetry and pointed out that some of the riffs were similar to what you'd find in early Metallica, and then someone started yelling at me that "what does it matter if it's melodic death metal or thrash metal, it's still awesome stop trying to box it in"
No one's trying to box anything in. They're saying, "Hey, this is kinda similar to another band I like! Neat!"
