It looks like Jacob really enjoys his bedroom and you all have made it such a comforting space for him! We don't have a room in particular for our son Mason, we use the family room for his mini trampoline and sensory mats. We use the kitchen for his playdough, slime and a small sink for him to play in water and "wash dishes". In his bedroom we have the sensory swing and all his toys we ended up making our own mats for the walls, we put up a few small strips of wood and screwed them into the wall, then we took a piece of plywood and screwed it to the strips. After that we got a 4" piece of foam and glued it to the plywood and then wrapped the foam with a faux leather and stapled it to the back of the plywood. Maybe that helps? Anyway you all done an awesome job in his room! I found some mirrored/reflection balls off of Amazon that my son enjoys a lot, I'm glad Jacob is having so much fun with his mirror!
Since moving our son got a bigger room and loves the extra space which is great since we don't have a fenced in yard. He likes to jump a lot and often does it on his bed He wound up breaking the slats on his old bed, so we have his bed just on the floor for now. He's got a bean bag chair, a tumbling mat, a bookcase, and a basket with blocks and a few sensory toys in it. Less visual stimuli seems to work better for Zac, too. My son recently has been spending more time in his room so we put a monitor in his room to supervise but also give him the space he's seeking. He also doesn't care for sheets either, but he does have a weighted blanket he likes to sleep with. My son has also been more interested in mirrors, I'll have to look into getting one for his room! I can relate to a lot of what your are sharing so thank you! ❤️
Oh yes I think ideally there rooms should be blank but that’ll be expensive to replace all the colours haha! Ooh tumbling mat would be awesome fun, especially if he likes to jump!
Just found your channel for my little one that has just been diagnosed. They seem to have similar needs and behaviours. Mine pulled the cover off his cot mattress and we used a doona cover that was adjusted as a new cover. Was thinking that would be a simple fix for your mat. Thanks for sharing,
I wanted to get some inspiration as we want to redo our son’s room, and you guys have done a really excellent job! Hopefully, soon, I will be able to put together a nice room tour video like this! Just subscribed! Xoxo
We do the équivalent of the son rise program (in France). In thé program it is mandatory To have a full length mirror so the kid can learn abour his body and practice through play facial expression.
Cloud sacs are really good they are in a small box then u take them out of the box and the grow really big as they have form in side them i have 1 my self i really love it if i get emotional i go in it with my ipad too carm me 😄
Thank you for the idea of the floating shelf above the window, I’ve been looking for a place to put my oil diffuser that my mum bought for me with lavender oil she’s been nagging me to try it but atm it’s too risky as where I have it on my TV cabinet it’s near electrical cords and computer corner won’t be turning it on until I find a place electronic free other than that I love your sensory room
Yes definitely try a very high shelf!! It’s been amazing to put risky items on that we don’t want him to touch! Goodluck and let me know how the infuser goes!
@@aussieautismfamily most definitely be trying a high shelf when Bunnings is opened again or is allowed to sell us home improvement essentials online as it’s closed here in Victoria due to covid lockdown and I’m not sure if they’re allowed to sell us home improvement items at this time
Also if you are able to get the mat onto the wall, PLEASE tell us how!! We tried to do the same with multiple Matt’s, and it kept tearing through any time Yi pulled on it, so we just gave up eventually!
We actually just ordered water proof sheets but it is awful like picture a fake leather feel sticking to your legs like a car seat 😓 Does this company serve the US??
Love this from another Autism Mom! Thank you!!
You're so welcome!!

Wow I’m impressed. You have thought of everything. Not ruining an expensive mattress by putting on a good protector is a must.
100% the quality of these sheets will help us keep his mattress for a very long time!!
Jacob is so adorable
They have bed tents which would be so cool for him and it’s super calming

Ooh that doesn’t sound good! Hopefully we can figure something out! Jacob likes to pull things off walls so it may not be possible!
