  • There are plenty of benefits to the CFA program, but also some drawbacks. Here is the WORST thing about the CFA exams and being a CFA charterholder.
If you have an idea of something you want me to cover in depth, please let me know because I take your requests seriously. Will be back with more CFA Exam tips in a couple of weeks so please submit more questions you would like to hear answered. Love you all!

The thing most fond of never taking time from children through CFA ...always studied when they were sleeping or I was traveling ...arduous but in retrospect ZERO guilt!..If you have kids ALWAYS sacrifice your own time late night early AM vs time with them....Peace of mind priceless as family more important than letter$

In order to feel most fulfilled as humans we must always feel like we are progressing in some way. I think this is why a lot of retired people play golf, because golf is a sport you never really "master."
I already had the "bug" you talk about before pursuing the CFA, and now I think if I were not studying for the CFA I would have a lot of boredom time. I think finding hobbies can be a good way to fill time and "progress" and won't feel like a waste of time so long as you genuinely enjoy them. Jiujitsu, golf, playing a musical instrument are all things I've done that are hard to master and give me that feeling of progression and fulfillment.

So true, during the period that I spent studying for level 1, I felt kinda blank, and after that I felt blank too, I was kinda miss studying and sometimes anxiety as I waited for the result. The moment I knew I passed lv 1, tbh the joy was kinda short-lived as I immediately started to think about lv 2 lol.

I do feel like this, becoming more sensitive on how I spend my time and whether I’m growing intellectually. It creates stress and some depression. But you can still apply cfa gained skills, into further learning, differences is that you now drive the curriculum onto what to learn. Nice video.

I finished all three levels of the CFA and now doing a masters in finance, the master feels too easy and deep down im dying because of the curse you just talked about. SOMEHOW cant event land an internship.
Nb: I passed levels 1 and 2 in the top 10 percentile 😢

After I finished college I got that feeling of “now what” as far as education/career progression and needing to feel productive, and that was probably a major factor in deciding to pursue the CFA charter. So some really good things can come from this feeling. However, I do agree… at what point should you put limits on it? After the CFA should I then go for a CPA, FRM, CTP etc and learn to code Python and R? Or at what point should I just kick back and enjoy life for a bit? Focusing on soft skills at this point in my career would probably be most beneficial anyways. But I think there is something to be said for lifelong pursuits of education and learning, but it better be something you enjoy if it will continue to dominate your life. Right now I am leaning towards spending more time with my wife and 3 kids after I hopefully clear level 3 later this year. We shall see how long I can hold off that feeling of needing to conquer an epic challenge such as the CFA though.

Passed my CFA level I in November 2022 and you're absolutely right on this, I cannot play more than 2 games on Fifa 23... I start worrying about and I tell myself "you're doing nothing!"
I certainly need to register in Level II but let me take some time off please😂

I am that time waister who always had unfocused frequently interrupted studies. However, I really enjoyed my life and my job too. At the age of 45 now, I didn’t reach more than a manager position in Corporate Banking. However, I have relatively much higher income, compared to the same position in US 🇺🇸. Currently, I feel more calm and have time for the CFA, although it seems to be too late.

I'm so glad others feel the same way. I passed my lvl 2 Nov'22 exam and im planning on writing lvl 3 in feb '24 but until registration opens up for that, i really don't have anything going on other than school. Even that feels so basic and easy in comparison with lvl 2. Hard to really enjoy doing anything now

Feel you man. Only taking level one next week but I can see what you mean. I consumed so much TH-cam content when I was in college and now I watch every video in 1.75 or 2.0 speed because I feel like I’m wasting time listening to people speaking normally 😂
And I literally mentioned learning python after the CFA in a job interview one hour ago 😅

Python can be used for quant finance. I work in risk management and we use python and sql quite a bit. About 5% of cfa charters are in risk management from what I remember.
