Thanks for bringing this great movie back up and into the public eye. It's timeless and so fun and in my estimation it's an iconic classic!
Thank you for the kind words! I love L.A. for all it's flaws, and I say it in the video : It takes the clichés we were used to in the 80's and 90's, and embraced them. I think modern day film makers have difficulty committing to creativity. Sometimes, it's because they just can't write interesting stories - but I think more often than not, they fear getting their livelihoods taken from them. Instead of going all in on a concept, they hold back in fear of offending the wrong people. It really drives a stake into the heart of interesting film, in my opinion - but I am grateful for the massive catalog of past films like Escape From L.A. even more because of that. A pity the sequel wasn't as good as the original but this is still very much worth a watch. It has some terrible CGI but slightly forgiven as back then it was still very much a new thing. Nothing beats practical effects. EFNY will always be the best but LA is fun, doesn't take itself too seriously and great to see Snake Plissken back in action. Nicely done video, any plans on covering Big Trouble in Little China?
I agree! Although CG can be used sparingly, but even then, it has to be done by the top designers to look acceptable. Practical, even while sometimes looking unrealistic (i.e. The Terminator eye removal scene), still shows more detail, and is impressive more often than not.
As for Big Trouble, I am in the middle of 2 upcoming Brilliance Of's to close Season 3 - but it is on my list for Season 4, and will likely start it off. 👍
