I’ve been asking the same thing of the Gibson factory here in Tennessee. What I was told is they have the deep purple, which is what they have to sell because it’s stock. However, if you’re at the factory and you want to have gold blocking Grovers and gold home pick ups, they are willing to do that upgrade for you right then and there.

Man, I love the SG Supremes. Don't have the coin to buy one, but these are the guitars that I dream about. I like a plain top, but this wine red looks extraordinarily good. Fingers crossed for a green or whatever crazy name Gibson gives it
The custom color collection has a Teal.. when it hits the wood that it's going on, it is anything but teal. Anyway, these are beautiful!

That thing is gorgeous! Sounds great too. The Wine Red is probably my favorite color on these new Supremes. I have a 2002 Midnight Blueburst one with chrome hardware that’s the best SG I’ve ever had, and that includes my first Gibson, a ‘67 Standard that I bought new. Gibson’s really stepped up with these new Supremes, but boy, they’re expensive! Worth the price if you can afford it. Even the coil-splits (or are they taps?) sound good. Good on ya, Gibson!

A buddy of mine got a 3 piece back. He hated it, sent it back, and was a ble to find one with a one piece back. I got the Fireburst since I already have a 2007 SG Select in wine red. As for quality, mine is 99.9%. No watermarks on the fretboard, the nibs are all clean, no machine marks on the binding, and an amazing top. I'm a fanboy and have 7 Supremes and quite a few other maple top SGs.

I remember plunking down a deposit on a brand new Midnight burst SG Supreme back in 2001. It was $2000 whixh was big money at the time and more than a new Les Paul Standard at the time. It was a beautiful guitar and played a nd sounded great. Sometimes I wish I had never sold it. I didnt knownthe very first Supreme was offered with P-90s, would love to hear one of those! This new one is interesting, I'm not 100% sold on the new headstock inlay but I could probably live with it. I liked all the different tones you could get out of this one, some of them sounded kind of Stratty! I like this color the best so far but a blue one or purple would be cool to. Can't wait to see the other one you bought!

I can't remember ever seeing one, and wonder if the Custom Shop could build a simple SG Standard, but made of all highly figured mahogany?

I had an SG Menace. With its baseball bat neck, it had major neck dive. Because of that, I swore I’d never buy another SG. I did, however, love the pick ups in that Menace. I do like the looks, weight, and improvements of this new SG supreme. What would prevent me from buying it are the pickups. I know a lot of people like the burst buckers, but I absolutely hate them. I would definitely have to pay a few hundred dollars to swap them out with something else.

I feel like the "new" SG neck joint is about as accessible as you can get.. Any more routing would just be for aesthetics IMHO. The old neck joint (while also allowing easier access than almost every other guitar on the market) was much chunkier... I actually thought Gibson did a pretty solid job of making the newer neck joint standard across all models (unlike Fender who make you get an "Ultra" model to get the better joint). I love SG's more than I should.. I have more than enough of them. I have no idea how I'm going to convince myself not to buy one of these. The weight and bulk are probably going to drive me nuts, but the look really is amazing. I also think it's the best looking Fireburst I've seen.... I typically HATE that finish (I bought a 120th Anv SGJ at a steal with satin Fireburst and had it re-finished white because I loved the guitar but hated the finish that much). On this one with the flamed maple top, it actually looks pretty amazing. Maybe I'll change my mind before I pick one up, though... I have more wine red than anything else.

After a month of owning 1,I had first received it with unbelievably low action which I had slight fret buzz on the thick E string,so I contacted the seller and they Said bring it down we'll set up you,so I changed the strings to a heavy gauge until I got there, the strangest thing happened, the bass E string ended up touching the pole screws;! Wtf,so lowered humbucker, turned up and I was getting intonation and lot's of plucky noisey sounds when hitting string's, I firstly wasn't that impressed, however I then took it too the Luthier without playing it he Said "they've bottomed this bridge" no worries I'll take it downstairs on a proper work bench and comeback in couple of hour's, tried it unplugged and absolutely zero buzz, got to plug in the weekend and test everything, there's a lot of difference in regards to compression, strange noises since raised, I'm wondering if anyone else had this issue from new? I'm taking a punt,i bought this for 500 off RRP, this was a demo or b stock, there's no way taking it back it's grabbed me, playability is outstanding, tho pickup height might need adjusting for best sound's,less muddy bridge pup, love it

Oh never mind 😆 Never the less what a beautiful SG Supreme. I never really got on board with the SG Supreme because for some reason the SG doesn't quite pull off the higher end spec thing. The LP pulls it off much better, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the new LP Supremes. But this SG oh yes I'm on board it looks like a Supreme should imo. The wine red is beautiful, the trans ebony is decent and my second choice but not as impressive. The fire one does not do it for me. Personally I don't think fire finish and the SG go together. I owned an SG Custom several years ago (original owner brand new) and it was gorgeous with a flame top. With that said, I got rid of it after six months. The fit and finish had issues which surprised me (compared to my PRS), the frets had to be crowned and finished and it would just not stay in tune. I took it to my local luthier (great guy) who fixed the frets and tried to address the tuning issues. However, the tuning issue never went away. I got so sick of it, I sold the damn thing. I was not impressed at all considering how much it cost. For that kind of money, I'd go with an equivalent PRS any day.

You obviously have money, just buy a $150 asian Strat and leave it sitting around the house, on the couch etc and grab that thing all day long and play the feck out of it. Dont worry about scratches just beat that thing up as long as you are getting hands on strings

I don't like that strap button location at all. It looks really weird with the strap connecting to the tip of the upper horn.

Those spots that appear on the fretboard are likely spots where they put a little bit of dye to cover up a light spot in the ebony to make it look more uniform and "modern"

It’s most likely Indian ebony and which you get a funny kind of residue spot in places. Not as pure black and quite possibly dyed. Though I’m not sure if Gibson would do that..

@@ChrisShortyAllen very true. I just don’t like buying a “starter” guitar. It’ll be crap and I won’t like it and I’ll have to buy something new later.
I was just curious if as you get into higher end guitars they are played different or were for different styles of play.
I played instruments through high school, both band and orchestra. Never touched a guitar but have always been longing to try.
I’m a firm believer in “buy once cry once.” I’d like something I love to play rather than some junker I have have no passion to pick up and play.

@@leviathan_is_me exactly! how wood works with an acoustic instrument like a violin is always a great way to understand how wood affects electric guitars, which make sounds a completely different way.
