I’ve been asking the same thing of the Gibson factory here in Tennessee. What I was told is they have the deep purple, which is what they have to sell because it’s stock. However, if you’re at the factory and you want to have gold blocking Grovers and gold home pick ups, they are willing to do that upgrade for you right then and there.

Yeah, I've gotten black fingertips from playing new guitars with ebony boards a few times & not just from Gibsons. Don't know whether it's the source or what but I think they're definitely dyeing the boards.
A buddy of mine got a 3 piece back. He hated it, sent it back, and was a ble to find one with a one piece back. I got the Fireburst since I already have a 2007 SG Select in wine red. Sure, they're nice but you may as well buy an SG Modern and save yourself $1k. The LP pulls it off much better, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the new LP Supremes. But this SG oh yes I'm on board it looks like a Supreme should imo. The wine red is beautiful, the trans ebony is decent and my second choice but not as impressive. The fire one does not do it for me. Personally I don't think fire finish and the SG go together. Very impressed with the wine red Supreme I think it will be the best seller. Oh and it sounds great!
Cesar Gueikian did say, in reply to an Instagram comment, that they had tried to make these better balanced. Probably why they went with a thicker body as well as the strap button on the horn.
I owned an SG Custom several years ago (original owner brand new) and it was gorgeous with a flame top. With that said, I got rid of it after six months. The fit and finish had issues which surprised me (compared to my PRS), the frets had to be crowned and finished and it would just not stay in tune. I took it to my local luthier (great guy) who fixed the frets and tried to address the tuning issues. However, the tuning issue never went away. I got so sick of it, I sold the damn thing. I was not impressed at all considering how much it cost. For that kind of money, I'd go with an equivalent PRS any day.
The Gibson 3+3 headstock design is inherently inferior to the PRS design for tuning stability. I'm guessing that's why Dave Grohl ( dg335 ) , Joe Bonamassa ( bonabyrd ) and Lzzy Hale ( explorer bird ) have signature guitars with different headstocks.
The layout is similar to the Epiphone DC Pro , with the exception of the toggle switch placement. Strap lock on the horn and input jack on bottom like a Les Paul .

I just bought a 2023 les paul jr vintage sunburst what do you think i should dobto kearn how to play guitar or any add ons to the guutar? Im a beginner
You obviously have money, just buy a $150 asian Strat and leave it sitting around the house, on the couch etc and grab that thing all day long and play the feck out of it. Dont worry about scratches just beat that thing up as long as you are getting hands on strings
Those spots that appear on the fretboard are likely spots where they put a little bit of dye to cover up a light spot in the ebony to make it look more uniform and "modern"
It’s most likely Indian ebony and which you get a funny kind of residue spot in places. Not as pure black and quite possibly dyed. Though I’m not sure if Gibson would do that..
It is a very fancy guitar for your first, but if it is on budget - I don't see why not! The demo unit is for sale at a $500 discount troglysguitarshow.com/product/gibson-sg-supreme-wine-red-shipping-delay/
@@ChrisShortyAllen very true. I just don’t like buying a “starter” guitar. It’ll be crap and I won’t like it and I’ll have to buy something new later. Never touched a guitar but have always been longing to try. I’m a firm believer in “buy once cry once.” I’d like something I love to play rather than some junker I have have no passion to pick up and play.
Fine. I’ll buy a PRS SE that I like the looks and sound of. But my next guitar is going to be something amazing. Then I’ll fill out the repertoire with some unique guitars.
The body looks awesome (they are channeling their inner PRS) but the white binding is a mistake. They should have used black binding. "Missed by this much".

@@leviathan_is_me exactly! how wood works with an acoustic instrument like a violin is always a great way to understand how wood affects electric guitars, which make sounds a completely different way.

I just ordered a wine red SG Supreme from Wildwood 7.44 lbs. Now the waiting begins.
according to StockX, having a Supreme truss rod cover adds $2k to the price tag.
That would look awesome with a Bigsby.
Nooooo! Lol!
I don't like that strap button location at all. It looks really weird with the strap connecting to the tip of the upper horn.
That guitar just crushes!
My next guitar for sure...🤘🤘🤘
Those spots that appear on the fretboard are likely spots where they put a little bit of dye to cover up a light spot in the ebony to make it look more uniform and "modern"
Love the wine on that one!
Love that Supreme SG. Just curious. Did you sell the SOR SG or are you keeping it for one of your kids or yourself.
It sold quick on reverb!
@@Trog I'm not surprised. Sounded like a good deal. Maybe one day I'll go to the SOR and pickup a nice deal.
oh my god that lava burst
.wow
Never much been a fan of the SG. Love a few of the great players that use them. This one however looks fantastic!
It’s most likely Indian ebony and which you get a funny kind of residue spot in places. Not as pure black and quite possibly dyed. Though I’m not sure if Gibson would do that..
I really like it. I want one and I have no idea how to play.
Would this be a good guitar for a beginner?
If you have it set up properly and can afford the price, you shouldn’t have to replace it, ever.
It is a very fancy guitar for your first, but if it is on budget - I don't see why not!
The demo unit is for sale at a $500 discount troglysguitarshow.com/product/gibson-sg-supreme-wine-red-shipping-delay/
If you spend so much on a guitar it will not assist your development.
When someone dings it you will be upset.
@@ChrisShortyAllen very true. I just don’t like buying a “starter” guitar. It’ll be crap and I won’t like it and I’ll have to buy something new later.
I was just curious if as you get into higher end guitars they are played different or were for different styles of play.
I played instruments through high school, both band and orchestra.
Finally a Gibson that is beautiful under 5 grand! Wow.
The body looks awesome (they are channeling their inner PRS) but the white binding is a mistake. They should have used black binding. "Missed by this much".
3 piece back. Are we prs wood library??
😂 Each of those woods produce different sounds when you hit em with sticks, so imagine how they sound when glued together and covered in layers of sealant....
@@leviathan_is_me exactly! how wood works with an acoustic instrument like a violin is always a great way to understand how wood affects electric guitars, which make sounds a completely different way.
I prefer the other inlays it had
Diggin the new Phat SG
I'm not into SG's but this one is beautiful.
Red flame maple SGs are the best, i have an ltd viper 200fm that looks similar but not as fancy
The top is also part of the body, so that with the three piece back makes it a five piece body.
Beautiful SG I can’t imagine anyone putting a poker chip on it…I’d change out the knobs to all black top hats… but a lefty probably doesn’t exist so….
Some sort of Epiphone Version of this would be so AWESOME.
maybe in a year or two!
Does it still tilt forward!?
Apparently they're well-balanced but sometimes it's a crapshoot with the SG. It doesn't bother me at all on mine. A 3-inch strap and my hand is usually on the neck so no worries
I’d bet not as the top
Strap is on the horn rather than back of neck.
