It’s a tiny local spot, lovingly built up over the last decade by a core group of at most 30 people putting on a small, local competition, and then suddenly a multi millionaire douche nozzle comes in and throws a $20,000 prize at it with no communication.
What do you think happens in that situation?,
Like you said, that seems like a lot - you’re probably going to get a couple thousand people from out of town suddenly showing up at a spot with the capacity for maybe 50 (one of the DIY’ers said there’s 30 parking spots total there).
Then when those out of towners win and go home, and leave the 30 or so people who actually skate the spot with a couple tons of garbage to clean up, you think that helps them in any way?
It not only does nothing for the local scene, it’s legitimately detrimental, so when they said “nah thanks”, he threw a beanie induced hissy fit and bought the land out from under them like a literal 80s sports movie villain.
What a tiny little dweeb of a man.
That plus the strings he’s attaching are “getting in touch with the youth and promoting the world view we think is better and more moral.”
