Great video as always. In my opinion, when you add the additional information such as the tyres in the middle of the video, it gets disrupting. I would highlight the information before the "whole undisturbed lap"

Not sure if the commentary was necessary throughout the whole video. For the extra information regarding the tires it was great, but the rest just felt somewhat unnecessary to me. Either way, great to see the channel trying to develop and improve the quality even further (: These videos are lovely!

the use of grooved tire started 1 year(1998) earlier than the video mentioned
in 1998-2000 there were 3 grooves in front tire and 4 in the rear. But in 2001-2008, the amount of grooves in the front increased from 3 to 4 while the rear remains unchange

      @martinhundertmarck 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That's wrong.
      1998 : 3 grooves in front
      1999-2008 : 4 grooves in front

My favorite year in f1. 2009, 2010. They said car is ugly, cus narrow high wing "thnigs" but i love it. High nose. Wide and simple front wing. KERS, and potenza tyre !

1:56 These videos are so good for showing just how much difference even a tiny bit extra v-ing/short corners can make you go so much faster by using more of the potential of the car and the tyres/not upsetting the car.
It is TINY differences here where I have to slow it down to make sure but even that amount
I really do think its a kimi diff in the corner + corner exits not the car as mentioned in the video. High speeds they are similar and the brawns straight line makes up the difference - gap probably would've been atleast 0.5s maybe 1s with kimi driving an equal lap.

The Ferrari F2007 is a more developed chassis as it based on the regulations that started as far back as 1998 (i.e. Ferrari F300). A significant technical change happened when V10s were replaced by V8s by 2006 but the chassis regulations remained fairly the same.
The Brawn BGP001 was the start of a new era and it only saw what great potential can be found from this new regulations with the emergence of Red Bull beginning with the RB6.
Then by 2014, we saw another rule change with the introduction of the v6 hybrid PU which was dominated by Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The same narrow rear wing and wide front wing regulations introduced from 2009 carried on until the very end of 2016.
The evolution of the Brawn BGP-001 reached the very end with the Mercedes W07.

Very nice video as always. Just a correction though. The grooved tires started for the big regulation change of the 1998 season when the cars were narrowed, all new aero formula and the open 3.0L rules of 95-97 ended, itself a minor modification of the open 3.5L formula of 89-94. All cars were defacto mandated to use the V10 from 98 to 05 until the next concord agreement came in effect for 2006. The mini era of the 2006-2008, the first 2 years being the highest revving V8 engines ever raced in F1. The 2008 cars were neutered a bit much like the 2005, the last year of the V10s other than TR. They sounded very different from the last classic Cosworth DFY variants being raced by some teams in 89-91. ICE technology rapidly developed during the 90s and 2000s when F1 had abandoned forced induction and manufacturers made some big innovation with power output, development and reliability paving the way for the 1.6L V6 ICE they use today. Urban legend has it BMW mechanics used to pee on the Inline-4 blocs it used in the 80s during the F1 turbo era and would let them sit outside for months to weather and harden when they were pushing 1300-1500HP in qualifying.

I understand where you're coming from, but if you look at the image they used for that part of the video, they are showing the front tires of the car which had 4 grooves in them. This was actually only introduced in 1999, as while there were grooves in the tires for 1998, the front tires originally only had 3 grooves while the rears have the full four grooves. So, the video is actually correct once you realize they're talking about the introduction of the 4 groove tires all around the car which did occur in 1999.

@@TheGhostRaptor Good point about the added grooves I had completely forgotten about that. That whole era is all mushed together in my mind.

Voice over is a good addition. I was gonna subscribe for it, but I already was haha...
Were the grooved tires really just to slow the cars down like I've been told, or was there another reason for that?

In conclusion, both cars have their strengths. The brawn at times has more straight line since it has less downforce, and quicker in the slower speed thanks to the additional mechanical grip provided by the slick. On the other hand the extra downforce from the Ferrari makes it quicker in the mid to high speed corners. Overall both cars have very different design philosophies, but offer similar levels of performance.

keep in mind that Ferrari F2007 in the first race of the season doesn't fit Kimi Raikkonen driving style, yet he managed to squeezed every inch of it eventho it was a fast anyway. Imagine if the F2007 suited Kimi driving style ie Oversteered setup. He will be flying !
