I like to ask questions of plants/herbs around me. So for instance, I recently ordered lavender tea. As I was making the tea one night, I stopped and asked the lavender in the tea bags to tell me something about itself that I would not know (since there's a fairly common knowledge about lavender.) I asked for information especially that related to ancient uses. Just after I asked the question, I saw in my mind's eye 2 snakes slithering out of a field of lavender and I got the impression it was seen as a snake repellent. I had never heard of any connection between lavender and snakes so this truly surprised me. Whenever I get these answers, I always do research to confirm them. It took some time looking but I found information that the ancients used to believe that lavender repelled snakes and they also would use it to treat snakebites. Further confirming this information was when I later spoke to a new friend who was part indigenous (a Southwestern tribe) and when I was telling him about the experience he said, "my people have always known that lavender repels snakes." ;) I have had so many interesting answers from plants! :)

Another way you can (or try to) connect with plants is to talk to them. Much like you would a dog or a cat. You're not really expecting them to reply, or understand. But you do begin to imagine what they might be saying back to you. And doing this starts to put you in the frame of mind that you ARE talking with them. And that strengthens your belief, and therefore, strengthens your intent.
It is much the same as with cats, dogs, any other pet or animal, and spirits.
To put it another way, believe that you are taking with (not just too) the plants, and you will talk with them.
You may find them replying by growing bigger or faster. They may suddenly blossom. Or that bit of information that you've never been able to find, or you've never been able to understand, suddenly becomes clear.
I"ll bet that anyone who tries this will be surprised and amazed.

I definitely talk and sing to my plants. One was one time that I was singing, and I saw one of the stem/ leaves of the plant slowly rocking up and down ;no window, no fan.

I talk to them too. I greet them in the morning when I get up as my friends and sometimes on walks I will silently greet the plants and trees I pass. I also whisper a request/intention into the cup of herbal tea I am about to drink to ask them to help me with a certain issue and to thank them for their energy. I actually even asked the trees growing near my balcony to grow closer. I felt they were indeed doing that but I thought I might be imagining it till one day my Mom (who knew nothing of my request to them) walked into my apartment, looked out the balcony window and exclaimed, "Oh my God, the trees are getting so close to your balcony now!" That confirmed to me that I wasn't imagining it. Alas, the landlord didn't like them getting so close and one day when I was gone I came home to find they had chopped the offending branches off.

This is lovely! During the Summer months, I enjoy making a pot of “garden tea” every day. I just pick edible herbs that call to me each day, and brew them up in my favorite teapot. Then I sit out in the garden, sipping tea amongst the plants and having a bit of a “tea and chat” time 😂😊. It actually helps me feel a tenderness and connection with the plants and creatures around me. Thanks for your gorgeous vid! 💚

I connect by asking plants what they need and by sensing if they are happier after receiving it.

Gardening has never come naturally to me, but I recently read “Braiding Sweetgrass,” and among many things, the author mentions communicating with plants, such as what you mentioned in the video. Introduce yourself, ask permission to harvest a plant, etc. This is something that really impressed me and I really want to try and see if this helps me become a more intuitive gardener.

You are an amazing woman, Ms. Suler. I tasted a leaf of anise hyssop once (at the suggestion of im macdonald), and immediatly got the cardio effect. I think I like your Tulsi idea better!

Good morning Asia. What an amazing video. I am this "crazy" guy that go out and engage and talk to the trees that most people ignore. I gently touch my plants and tell them how much I love and appreciate them. Very soon in my life I will become a full time gardener. You inspire me to do more than I thought to do and also to do what i thought about but seldom do. Like talking to the water and to interact with plants and be more mindful of my energy when doing so... if you ever come to South Africa i would love to show you my garden and by that time the changes that happened as a result of your inspiration. Namasté.
