    I literally hate watching dog training videos because most of them are using already trained dogs I love that we are shown with dogs that have never been exposed to these trainings. After watching these videos I train with my dogs and they work immediately 10/10 recommended. Great Work !

      well this pup has clearly been exposed to "stay" training and is not on the first couple tries .

      Agreed!! We have just got a 10 week old puppy. 2.5 weeks ago (untrained stray). So she was super young. And we have been following these training videos consistently since we got her and she learns in a day how to act this obedient. I think it’s just consistency and proper rewarding and reinforcement. Even tho their puppies are trained I believe their methods work very well on untrained pups, in my experience at least.

      Clearly says at the start of the video “I use stay with my pup Riley all the time” so sounds like to me it’s already trained?

    I am so happy I found this channel....you guys are an absolute joy to watch and more importantly...your training is realistic!!! So many trainers I've watched are just stuffing the dog with treats for every single exercise...I'd rather do your approach which is a mix of praise and reward....establishing that leadership and not bribe! I'll go back to bingeing this videos now...lol ....keep up the amazing work!!! And the videos coming!! You've been a lifesaver for my new pup! And big props to you for working with shelters....that is tremendous, you're saving lot of canine lives!

    This was very helpful, I was teaching 'stay' by starting with a growing distance. I didn't realize the foundational step for the first few seconds just in sit. My 11 week bernedoodle has mastered 'sit' but 'stay' was a struggle this is going to be a game changer.

      Definitely do all you can to train when you get him but even with all the videos I watched. I had a learning curve of about a week. Learning about my puppy. His different cries his stares. You’ll understand less you already have dogs. My pup was my first. It was definitely hard for day 1-5ish. It’s so much better now.

    I’m currently training my puppy I’ve had her less than 48 hours and she is picking things up SO fast I don’t want to hurl too much too fast at her as she is 11 weeks old and I’ve taught her sit in sign language down in modified sign language which down is similar to stay except palm faces down. I’m currently working on release (for her toys) so stay will be next I might change it to freeze though I’ll see. Ohhh and recall working on recall as well as getting her use to riding in cars. Not sure if I’m pushing too fast with her as I’m trying to make sure she picks up the fundamentals as she will be a working girl for service work. I think she is enjoying the challenge either way. She is GREAT with down. Coming up into sit from down is still a little slow and it takes a second for her puppy brain to turn it over (again only 11 weeks and less than an hour total of training) she is doing AMAZING so far. Ohh and of course she gets to strut around in her extra loose collar and high vis vest that is also far too loose on her still. So much for her to get use to and she is just taking it like a champ 2-5 minutes of training in an environment with “distractions” all around to get her use to it and she has amazing focus for those 2-5 minutes even when she loses focus I’ll take it as an opportunity to work on training “release” with her to extend the session longer in a fun way. Making the toy circle my body as she does a full revolution and saying orbit (100% know she isn’t taking that one in but I’m hoping when I officially teach it later she will have a moment of wait this is familiar she always says this when I chase the toy around her body and it will stick better. )

    Is it wrong that I prefer to do training outside where he hears birds, wind, cats moving around, and neighbours? I have 2 kids inside which for my boy is much more distracting then anything outdoors. I do train inside it’s just much less then I do inside.

    Do you use this because the first command isn’t a ‘staying’ command? Meaning when you say sit it’s a sit and then once praised you can move.
    I decided not to use the stay command but this video makes me curious to the difference. If I tell my pup to sit it means sit until I tell them to do otherwise so the stay command wouldn’t be added any more depth to the training.

    • @judymiller5154
      @judymiller5154 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes, they need time to adjust to a new home and routine, learn their name and that you are the source of all good things (food, treats, cuddles, play, outdoors), and just beginning the sit, maybe off (no jumping), and no bite.

    • @RaunchyLemon

    • @sarastone341
      @sarastone341 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just based on knowledge I’ve gained from watching other Fenrir videos I know that they would never suggest a) doing off lead training with a puppy in a dangerous place and b) do outside, off lead training with a dog/puppy that doesn’t see their handler as their canine leader therefore if they felt fearful they would run to you/the handler.

  • @bulldogs7707

    why teach a word they dont need to know? sit means sit. it doesn't mean 3 seconds or a minute or a half hour. you sit until i release you. hunt test dogs, field trail dogs are almost always trained like that. i just dont understand using and extra word. that extra word also degrades the meaning of sit.

    Hi Joe, would you recommend training wait AND stay ? What is really the difference between the two?
    I’ve train wait and he’s fantastic at that, especially when it’s wait until I said break for his food, but now I’m wondering if I should incorporate Stay?

    • @desadia
      @desadia ปีที่แล้ว +3

      wait is more for waiting to do or get something that they want, such as food, toy, or activity. stay is basically waiting for you and nothing else. same concept, just for different things. stay is also meant to last way longer in the long run whereas wait only lasts usually up to a minute, stay can last several minutes.
