One of the best solo wargaming videos I have seen so far, great selection.
I own about 20 or 30 solitaire-only games, and Pavlov's House is one of my all-time favorites! Gotta be in my top three! I love how it has a zoomed-in view of the battle, but also two zoomed-out views, which really does make it feel like a blend between a tactical game and a grand strategic game. Also I love that it has some logistics decisions you must make to prevent your soldiers from running out of ammo and supplies. Fantastic game!
Some great choices. My only addition would be Castle Itter, from the same dev as Pavlov's House.
My favorite is Enemy Action: Ardenes. Great list!

Stalingrad: Advance to the Volga by Revolution Games.
Excellent list. Conflict of Heroes solo system was a breakthrough in AI card instructions. A LOT of solo games started to copy its IF THEN ELSE structure independant of the units you are fighting with.
So sad this collaboration between John Butterfield and the Eickerts did not continue.
Personally I found the Stalingrad game a DUD frankly. No OOB, no historical set up and an AI Bot that simply was stupid: rolling a 6 sided die and let that die decide which way the Russian unit went … while half of the time it would throw itself into the Volga…
The brand new Stalingrad advance to the Volga zonal game is miles better frankly.
But your video production is fantastic.
A few hints that I would include : The Panzer system which now has in its 4th expansion (France 40) a true SOLO system for ALL its previous scenarios.
Also the Panzer Pusher website adds a dozen more solo scenarios!
Tank Duel: a fantastic SOLO system from Jason Carr (new lead designer of GMT solo systems) Each knocked out Tank is immediately replaced, so you really fight with Platoons !
Hitler’s Reich an incredible Solo strategic game with the latest rules edit… first edition were a bit unstructured but GMT published a redone set of rules.
And of course Enemy Action Kharkov

"… while half of the time it would throw itself into the Volga…" 🤣 Yes, quite silly, not satisfying. Hasn't played Stalingrad, it is on my wish-list, but after your feedback, I start to reconsider. However, historically they been close to that - I mean thrown back into the river... they hold very narrow strip of the bank and nearby sectors of the city, but they hold it. Isn't it?
Well, yes, it makes me reconsider to get this one, cause regarding war games I have no real companion to play it, I mean people that I play board games are not much into WW2, so on this topic I'm solo, at least for now :D

Propably best game on list after played it twice, its quite known though. But its not solitaire game although can be played as such if you play both sides.

Enjoyed the video TZ had not seen some of the titles before, your video displays them nicely. I am curious though, when you say 'solitaire', are you actually meaning solo capable? The reason I mention it, is 'solitaire' is normally reserved for games intentionally designed for just one player. Most wargames CAN be played solo, sometimes with a little bit of clever fudging. It's a different environment for board games unlike with computer wargames that can offer an AI opponent (even if the AI opponent sucks).

Yes - solitaire meaning in this video is bit stretched... Of course, many of these games are made for more than one player, 2.... and even up to 6, but they all have their original rules for one (single) player gameplay as well. So, not all of them are strictly solitaire - some of them you can play with opponent.
Ambush is still the best series.

Battle Hymn is actually Ambush! but set in the Pacific Theatre, and Open Fire! is Ambush but you're running a Sherman Tank crew. I'm enjoying your videos so far! (I completely missed out on the video being about ground combat 😂)

I never had as much fun losing a game as I had the first time I played The Barbarossa Campaign.

Which one of these you liked most?
Do you have some recommendations for players who look for more intellectually involved titles, with less left to randomness and skill and good moves being rewarded more consistently? My experience with this classical style of wargames unfortunately paints them as very boring affairs with decisions being obvious (push as many tokens as you can towards objectives...) and majority of time spent not on heavy thinking but on watching the dice being rolled.
WOW! Excellent! Excellent question! ... well and suggestion btw as well. I will prepare episode about "INTELLECTUAL" / HARD CORE / HARD TO PLAY board games. Definitely! Well cannot promise that all of them will be solo playable and about WW2, but I will try to include them as well. However, game developers usually try to make games easy to learn and play ones - well simply because they can sell them more easy for broader audience... same is true about PC games as well. Well, cannot say so about retro games - some of them are nightmares.
