This video, this video was uploaded about 6 years ago... But I learned Balancing equations in just a minute. My teacher coudn't teach me in a week, but this! This video HELPED ME, A LOT! I just sleep in my class cause I really can't understand her.
Minh Pham yep me too. My teacher was confused after I watch this video, because that day was our exam, She was like " Why is there an X and Y here?" hahaha
We are all here because we all have a shitty chem teacher. Thank you so much for saving our future! chem paper today, I feel like I will get a passing mark at least after watching this. Once again, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!
i just did terribly on a chemistry test because i couldn't balance properly, and this video just made it so easy for me. i'll never make a mistake in this again, thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I have been freaking out because my Chemistry Honors teacher is terrible when it comes to explaining stuff or trying to find easier ways to make us understand. I finally get it!
My science teacher was a college professor, and now teaches grade 8 in chemistry. She expects us to know everything and teaches everything very fast and sometimes it's hard for me to understand. This helped me so much (: Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, I now feel like bashing my head against a wall because of how simple the process of balancing equations was and also because I struggled for so long and never bothered to learn it until now.
I was so bad at this, and I felt stupid since the majority of my classmates understood it. But now I see there are so many different ways to balance chemical equations and this one is the easiest one. Cant thank you enough for helping me understand this!
I thought our time was complete after Calc. Oh, how I have missed you. My chemistry teacher just could not get this across to my class. This was much needed! You are amazing at what you do, Sir. Thank you!
God knows how much time I spent in my chem class stressed out because I could NOT understand the equations. This video made me understand I'm just a few minutes. Thank you!
Syed Ilhan the amount of reactants do not equal the amount of products. The equation is unbalanced because it does not comply with the law of conservation of mass.
Your question is like asking, what if I don't have any pizza dough? Will my pizza be unstable or what? I mean that this is making sure that all the ingredients for the chemical reaction are there. It's the correct and only way to write the chemical reaction. I hope that was kind of helpful.
The main purpose of learning complex concepts like this isn't really because you might use it in your life (Well you might if you become a chemist). But the real reason is because it expands your brain and ups your level of understanding things.
Mr Spud oh so we should all be taught how to live life by some stranger on the web? I go to school so I can have a future what else besides to flirt and talk am I there for? School should be teaching me that not some random joe lol Gtfo with your nonsense kid that comment is ridiculous. delete it.
+Asriel Dreemurr Why are u watching this.... school should be teaching this not this internet dude. So you r the one who should GTFO... You calling him a random brave he got 2 million subs ure the random kid... xDDD
Hey, I understood mostly all of it except for one thing. Why does the SO4 have a bracket around it? as seen as (so4)3 I'm really confused as I really want to pass my chemistry test :(
Varun Alvakonda that is to determine that SO4 (Sulfate) has a subscript of 4 and the charge is 3. The parenthesis is added so you/we cant confuse about it. Hope this helps!
This video was uploaded in the Fall, 2009. It is many years from now but it is still really helpful for high school chemistry as well as freshman students on general chemistry course on balancing chemical equation topic. Most of student has problems with this topic when they work on complicated chemical equations. The video's author had a obvious presentation how to balance a chemical equation included the simplest one at the beginning and the complex one at the end. He show the way to balance for each atom such as metal first, then oxygen. For chemical equations that contain carbon, hydrogen, oxygen atoms, the order to balance is that considering the number of carbon first, the second is hydrogen, and the last is oxygen. Finally, multiply for any constant number to get a integer in front of molecules. Moreover, he also use different color to separate numbers, molecules, and guide how to substitute a complex group by a letter X to make the equation more simple. However, in this video at round 3'55 he said C2H4 is a Methane but it is a Methylene. It is a small mistake, and it doesn't matter on the balancing topic. But it is a big mistake on nomenclature topic. Anyway, this video is a good tool for new students learning about the balancing chemical equation. It might help a lot. Thank you for uploaded.
It's funny how my chem teacher can take 50 mins to try to explain this and just one of your videos and now I understand what to do. Sadly I'm paying my teacher...
We had 5 lessons on balancing and I didn't understand a word .. and tommorow we have an exam .. 10 minutes with khan academy and everything is clear .. thank you so much for your time and your free teaching .. I hope some schools depend on your teaching videos ! thank you again ♥
Oh my gossshhhh THANK YOU. My chem teacher couldn't teach us how to do this in an hour and a half for her life, but I completely understand it now. I will NOT fail the test! :)
***** I was kidding and i didnt mean it in a suicidal way. Im not killing myself because it took me a little to understand some highschool science. bruh.
Yeah, you probably won't need this until about 11th grade, depending on when you take Chemistry classes. Aaaand then after that, you probably won't need it again.
I still dont get it , I understand the concept put I dont know where numbers are coming from and he is not really explaining why or how. Call me simple but im still not getting it.
At first you are given the molecules that you need for the reaction to occur, so balancing means you need to change the number of molecules that you need for that reaction to occur, basically the molecules cannot be changed but the number of molecules can, hopefully that is helpful to you.
I don't understand this😩 I'm in year 8 and have a test tomorrow on this and I've been revising for 1hour and I still don't get this😪 call me stupid I acc don't care
I did find that useful!!!! Chemistry was a struggle for me back in HS and I never planned to need it again. Now 2020 hit and my own son is taking Chemistry in virtual HS and needing help. I am so grateful for this resource to help me help my son!
I love you man! My teacher tried explaining this to me but i had no clues what she was on about. Then i stumbled across your channel and now i understood this in 15 minutes. LOVE YOU
Thank you so much this video is a lifesaver I have a test tomorrow on this and I was freaking out bc no matter how much my teacher tried to help me I still couldn't figure it out but now I understand
OMG i probably wouldnt have passed grade 10 chem if this hadnt been here :') thank god their are these types of people. I wish all our teachers were as easy to understand a these guys
Thanks so much for posting this. I barely got out of Chemistry in HS. My final project saved me. Balancing chemical equations was always difficult to me. Now that I'm having to take it again in college, I'm worried. But this vid gave me a better understanding and w little bit more confidence. I will study this vid until I feel more comfortable on my own. Thanks so much for posting this :-)
You literally just saved my life. I have a test worth 120 points to make up on this tomorrow and I didn't understand a single thing until this video. THANK YOU
needed help writing total and net ionic equations but was still confused with just balancing equations this was a big step in the right direction, thank you.
This video, this video was uploaded about 6 years ago... But I learned Balancing equations in just a minute.

I just sleep in my class cause I really can't understand her.
+RHOLAND my teacher couldn't teach me how to balance reactions in the 4 weeks he taught me, but i learnt this just by watching this video.
Minh Pham yep me too. My teacher was confused after I watch this video, because that day was our exam, She was like " Why is there an X and Y here?" hahaha
I know how you feel. I'm the only one passing my chem class because I learn from the Internet, not the teacher
+RHOLAND you are my brother from another mother i had the same situation TOO !
KiNg -ZyAd hahahahaha sup bro 😂
14 mins later and you taught me what my real teacher couldn't in 11 week.... Thank you!
de anza?
Aha me too!
Same here
Agreed. This is simple and basic. My HS chemistry teach didn't like to get questions from the class, hence the students didn't learn. What a shame.
We are all here because we all have a shitty chem teacher. Thank you so much for saving our future! chem paper today, I feel like I will get a passing mark at least after watching this. Once again, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!
Amen to that!
Emera Dragon I've got 98 + 5 bonus marks!!! OMG!! Thanks a lot!!!
-Emera-Draws - im here cuz my older sis had hard homework
Mine is good, but my class is so disruptive I cant pay attention
Oh yesss!!
Someone fire my teacher and hire this guy!
Your teacher has a weird accent right?
JRLM that's funny because I was having trouble until now I saw this. And my professor has a thick accent haha
bluhealth The accent makes the work so much harder to understand sometimes.
someone tire my feacher and gire this huy

yes sorry
Agreed the substituting of the SO4 for the X will help me a lot on my test. Thank you!
vivi law legit i learned from that guy in 14 mins than from the teacher in 1 year
vivi law No kidding mate. My teacher is not even close to teach as well as Sal Khan
i just did terribly on a chemistry test because i couldn't balance properly, and this video just made it so easy for me. i'll never make a mistake in this again, thank you so much!
really wish i'd watched this before the test
Same thing happened to me :/
Cpradiostation44 we'll do better next time!
I have a test tomorrow on this :/
Smiti Modhurima Yes,Don't cry over spilled milk :)
When my teacher explained this concept, most everyone in the class was fuckin lost ; because of this video, I now understand it completely.
That moment when science actually makes sense.

I really don't know what I'd do without Khan Academy! Thank you for this channel.
I GET IT . Time to destroy this test
Kill um

I have a quiz on this tomorrow and my teacher, bless his soul LOL, tried but I just couldn't get it. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I have been freaking out because my Chemistry Honors teacher is terrible when it comes to explaining stuff or trying to find easier ways to make us understand. I finally get it!

Khan Academy: saving the lives of chemistry students one video at a time.
U ARE A WIZARD
HARRY!
Ima what?
The thing about Khan is he teaches in really simple language and he explains the idea in a different approach. Keep up the great work Khan!
Thank you so much. You gave me much needed confidence for my test tomorrow

You da real MVP
Who here has a chem test tommorow? XD
Me!
9 years late here but me too lol
i wonder what you're doing with your life now.
You made it so easy to understand, thank you!
Totally Amazing....!!! You teached it sooo easily... Was worried about it cause balancing always troubled me a lot... Genius..

+Shekel-Man must of teachers are an assholes they love to overcomplicating just to make them self a pro and to make us live in a suffer

THANK YOU SENPAI SAL! I LOVE KHAN ACADEMY
Thanks for sharing the wonderful knowledge of chem!
WOW I think I finally get it! 4 years of useless information vs 14 minutes of exactly what I need! Thank you!
This was very helpful. Thank you.
what if i don't balance the equation is the product gonna be unstable or what? Please help
Syed Ilhan the amount of reactants do not equal the amount of products. The equation is unbalanced because it does not comply with the law of conservation of mass.
oh so it's like correcting whats wrong Right?
Syed Ilhan in a way, yes
Syed Ilhan ur welcome
Your question is like asking, what if I don't have any pizza dough? Will my pizza be unstable or what? I mean that this is making sure that all the ingredients for the chemical reaction are there. It's the correct and only way to write the chemical reaction. I hope that was kind of helpful.
I do not know why it was SO HARD for my teacher to explain this?!?!?! You make it so easy!!!!! Thank You So Much!!!!!
my teacher rushed it and expected us to know it and i hope this video works i have a exam tommorow
The problem I have with this shit is, when am I going to ever need to use this? Cause in the next 5 years I won't ever remember this either.

Wow I understood this first time and I couldn't understand it properly in class for a week... So happy to find this video!
My honor's physical science teacher just taught us this in 30 minutes and then gave us a worksheet i am super lost.
Hey, I understood mostly all of it except for one thing. Why does the SO4 have a bracket around it? as seen as (so4)3 I'm really confused as I really want to pass my chemistry test :(
Toxic TV I think that means that it is either 3 So4's or everything in the bracket multiplied by 2,
Varun Alvakonda that is to determine that SO4 (Sulfate) has a subscript of 4 and the charge is 3. The parenthesis is added so you/we cant confuse about it. Hope this helps!
Dianne Arcega
Dont know if that helps him or not but u confused the hell out of me
SO4 is a polyatomic ion
thnx guys I got it. Finally figured it out
The idea of multiplying the whole equation was definitely a life saving tip! My biology teacher never mentioned that so I was quite confused.
So who’s here a few hours before the test because they procrastinate?
Edit: I failed by 5 points my life is great
I am legit getting a passing grade because of this video
