Everything about this evokes the relentless passage of time until his execution. The beat of a slow walk; that little 3 notes up & 2 down sounds like somebody sneaking up on you; that tick of a drumstick tapping the rim of a drum sounds like a clock ticking. Chilling.
Chris has no bad songs and is my favorite artist since I heard him in 2020 and he blew me away. He sounds better live than ll his recordings. Always react to the live version’s.

Here's another live performance "Chris Stapleton - What Are You Listening To (Live Acoustic)" (2013) this song was the lead single for his planned debut album with Mercury Nashville. After "What Are You Listening to" tanked, the record didn't get released. Stapleton went back to the drawing board and released *Traveller* on May 5, 2015, which later won album of the Year at the 2015 CMA Awards. I suggested this song because, even though it tanked it still goes to show you, hard work, dedication and perseverance will help you succeed... Just look at Chris.
