    Use steel wool in a circular motion (completely around the rings) to get that anisotropic effect like brushed metal.

    • @Artisan1979
      @Artisan1979 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But if you use that don't you run the risk of the scratches being deeper in the surface?

    • @theguid0
      @theguid0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Artisan1979 not if you use 000 steel wool. It's too soft to cut plastic, it will barely cut paint or clear coat. You won't even be able to feel it, it will simply change how the light reflects.

    • @Artisan1979
      @Artisan1979 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theguid0 Do you still have to wet the surface as you do with sandpaper? I know it might sound like a foolish question but I have done very few paint jobs up until now

    • @theguid0
      @theguid0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Artisan1979 no water. But use some water to wipe it afterwards to clean the tiny metal fibers off. Lots of people miss this step and clear over the metal 'dust' and you don't see it until it's dry and too late. Use can repeat this method on multiple clear coat layers of you want a deep mirror glass finish as well. Just don't go in circles but randomly and do less rubbing each layer. I do this with wood furniture when building to give it that super slick finish.
