Hi Dave , first off , Nice to see someone doing a ride , enjoying it , not moaning about the climbs , great info on surroundings , also kudos for the miles/feet at the end of the ride , unlike other you-tubers pretending that they live abroad and doing it in km and meters [ i hate that ] we live in the UK , you sir have my sub !! keep em coming 👍
Many thanks for the kind comments! I have my bike computer set to Imperial measurements because I have real trouble in picturing distances in kilometres! If someone says they've biked 20 kilometres, I can't fathom how far that would be, but if they say it's 12 miles then I can imagine it! :) I'm old school!!
Hi Dave - I've spent some time in the area round Ticknall - it''s a great starting point for walks. A couple of things I thought you might have seen on your route and made comments on were The Hangman's Stone to the SW of Severn Sprouts Farm and the Viking Cemetery in Heath Wood at Foremark - both shown on the OS maps. Also Anchor Church but I think you'd have difficulty on a bike down there - there's alway a next time. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks for your comment and for the additional local info! It really is a very interesting part of the world! I've been to Anchor Church before a few times, but only on foot - there's no way you'd be able to ride a bike down there without either ending up in the nettles or in the water! :)
Another enjoyable watch. Love all the information you present, you do well remembering everything whilst out and about. Do you use Komoot for planning your rides?
Thanks so much for your kind comment! I tend to use a mix of Ordnance Survey maps, Google Maps and Garmin Connect to plan my rides. I use OS firstly to find interesting looking areas with lots of country lanes and bridleways, and then I try to check them out the best I can on Google satellite and street view. Finally I plot the route on Garmin Connect, which I can then upload directly to my bike computer. I think often I spend longer planning and plotting the rides than I do actually riding them!!
Thank you for this, Looks like a good route, I don’t live far away from that area but haven’t explored it. Would you share a gps file for it please? I think the route would be a muddy challenge in Winter if the bridleways in south Leicestershire are anything to go by.
Thanks for your comment! It's a lovely part of the world to explore and in my past experience, it's not too muddy in the winter compared to other areas! If you have Strava, you can find this (and all my other rides) at www.strava.com/athletes/65030255
Love your page. I think it's brilliant . Don't stop doing what you're doing .some interesting history that comes with your rides .
Thank you so much! Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
