Once you drive across a bridge with rain pouring down and seeing liberty city lit up in the background you will agree the xbox 360 version has some kind of magic too it that makes it IMO the definitve version. Hummers in this game are something I remember sometimes accidentally running into them at high speed with no chance to brake expecting a crash only to then drive right underneath it 😂
The crazy thing about GTA 4 driving is that as a kid, I thought it sucked. Then I learned to drive in real life and suddenly when I went back and played the game again the driving was suddenly a whole lot easier and just “felt” right. The driving physics aren’t perfect, but it does give you more of a sense of the weight and momentum of vehicles than any other game I personally have played. Force yourself to forget the arcade racer driving you know from most other games, and drive in GTA 4 with the same caution you would in real life, before gradually doing riskier and riskier things to get back up to the same speed and reckless abandon you’d drive with in 5. By the time you’ve mastered the physics, you’ll have driven enough different vehicles in the game to also know which cars are capable of what. It’s not anywhere near pickup-and-play like 5 is, but now that I have the maturity and patience to master game mechanics slower and more methodically it’s been such a rewarding experience with a lot of depth and a high skill ceiling that you feel proud to reach.
That’s pretty cool how after driving in real life the game felt better to you. I definitely enjoy the more realistic aspects of it and as you said, all the information about the physics you get while doing it
Honestly, I loved the GTA IV driving physics from the get go as a kid not even knowing anything about driving in real life, now as an adult and after 2 years of driving, it just confirms to me that the physics are superior, always loved them and always will it seems
For me, the driving is excellent, at first it is difficult because the braking is slower and the vehicle has weight when turning, but when you get the hang of driving it feels very satisfying and excellent , I prefer this driving more than GTA 5
The cars in this game feel a lot closer to real cars than some racing games. I don't think outside of a BeamNG type game has there ever been more realistic handling and especially damage simulation... Is what I would say if swing sets didn't launch your car into space.
I actually been only using keyboard for like 10 yrs and that’s what I used in this video. But I just bought an Xbox controller for my pc for the first time and I really like using it. Already made a vid with it too lol
Those skills man.... Like the comment if you want these kind of phisics or similar with loss of traction and body roll for gta6. Or even setting for arcade and realistic driving like mafia series.
Driving in GTA 4 sucks. But I really like it, because it made it into a skill you learnt over time while you played the game more, and also made any mission or chase harder. In comparison, GTA 5 felt average on that front, you never felt like you could lose the mission at any point
Listening to kanye West, flashing lights, and all of the lights fits gta when you are either driving the infernus or coquette. There are so many songs in the game that fit the three main protagonists. Like, cult of personality (for Johnny Klebitz since he's a biker), animation by xilent for luis (since he is in the nightclub), and amazing by kanye West for niko.
GTA4 driving was HORRIBLE... in the first, early retail versions before patches on PC. Indeed. The suspension in every car was just so fkn soft it didn't made any freaking sense. I think it took them maybe 3 maybe 6 months to patch it on PC (so prolly a year on console). After they patched it in further versions... GTAIV driving is the best GTA ever made and probably we won't ever get a better driving experience in any future GTA.
Tbh the driving in GTA 4 may be exaggerated in some cases, but hey, atleast you can master the cars, unlike the bikes, Driving those shits is a punishment that I wouldn't wish on my enemy, fortunately in the DLCs R* realized that mistake and decided to improve it
The thing is.. You was driving mostly straight. There is no problem with that in GTA 4. The problem is, that when you drive, the car feels like an iron, it cannot turn. It slows down a lot and leans over like it’s a whale on wheels.
You can if you brake earlier and softer. If you play with a controller don't press the trigger all the way down, on keyboard tap the button to avoid locking (unless the vehicle has ABS, like the PMP-600 for example) And always pay attention to elevation changes and traffic behavior
@@jnicorb The driving physics in GTAIV was not originally planned to make you drive fast. Just compare GTAIV and GTAV driving experience. In GTA5 you can drive fast and steer with no issues compared to GTAIV. But with that physics, driving in GTAV feels kind of arcade. Having played gran turismo so much (30,000km at nürburgring) paid off when i took up gta 4. From the start i knew how to corner well and how to handle the weight transfer of most vehicles. I'll admit some sedans do have far too much understeer and tend to not want to turn even when you took a corner with the proper line and speed. Its much better to stick to sports cars. The most fun are the coquette and the comet imo.
We can all certainlly agree that most GTA 4 videos were about the driving physics because its just satisfying to install some mods and have some fun with the cars
cars in gta 4 feel like they have weight, unlike most other games, including forza horizon. there is no feeling of weight of the car in those games at all.
Yeah weight makes it so fun, like in gta V, if I’m driving a slower car, that’s it, it’s just a slow car, but it has the suspension of a F1 car. Atleast in gta IV the slow cars are BOATS, and it’s fun to see how all the weight transfer can affect the performance
@@gamerdude4465 i can drive and i've driven upto 250 km/h and i know what it's like to turn at high speeds. if you drive slow in gta 4 the handling is very normal. yes, the suspension is a little to soft in the cars but it's still way better than forza horizon, cars in that game feel weightless and feel like they don't have suspension
I mean I like the driving, it feels nice and weighty, and yes it took about half an hour to get used to but after that it was smooth sailing, the key was to not accelerate whilst turning.
booted up gta online after playing gta 4 for a while, at first i thought the new police cars they added that i was driving had better handling just since they're police cars and all but then i remembered how unrealistically grippy and balanced gta 5 driving is. people just need to get good at gta4's driving man, every moment of it is rewarding.
My favorite car to drive in any GTA game ❤ Corvette C5 is an absolute thing of beauty and i hope to own one someday :3 The suspension in this game is definitely softer than the real car but definitely more accurate than just about any other racing game out there, it actually feels like the car has suspension and isn’t just glued to the road, or so overly stiff that it doesn’t even feel like the suspension is moving around or doing anything. Way better than GTA 5

And comet too have very nice handling
@@dziadufoludd coquette might have a bad handling. but at least it actualy turns corners without having to slow down the vehicle.
In gta 5 all cars handle the same, only difference is top speed
well yea obviously, most cars in this game are full size sedans the coquette is a sports car
I still have my 360 with all the best cars saved just to revisit this masterpiece once in a while
That’s awesome, I’ve always played on pc, but sometimes feel like buying an old 360 and this game for it just to experience what it really was like back when this game came out. I hear the 360 runs better than the ps3 version too
@@vectorlite5425 well I just recently bought a very nice, expensive pc and when I try to play gtaIV it stutters like every 3 minutes and the screen freezes but world keeps moving so if you are driving for example you won’t freeze In place but the screen will freeze and the game is still playing so basically the game is broken I heard it ended up that way after they took the original game down and uploaded a “updated” version
Damn that sucks, wish rockstar would put more effort into keeping gta 4 alive and playable for those who are interested. It really is the black sheep of the series smh
@@vectorlite5425 I can tell you that the atmosphere is definitly better on xbox 360. The pc port lost some graphic details and also has many oversights and bugs. and not all of the m have been fixed by modders yet. The only thing that makes the 360 version worse then pc is of course the 720p resolution and you often have a framerate slightly below 30 fps. Its still very playable and is my preferred way to experience the game. Once you drive across a bridge with rain pouring down and seeing liberty city lit up in the background you will agree the xbox 360 version has some kind of magic too it that makes it IMO the definitve version. (Now that i think about it. you can actually play the 360 version of the game on xbox one or series s and have the atmosphere + 60 fps and higher resolution. So thats probably the best way to play the game.
@@hellwire4582 You can also play the 360 version on the PC with Xenia emulator, also 60fps, you can increase the resolution to 1440p or 4K if your PC can handle it of course. I've tried it on my old PC that had an GTX 1070 and i5 8400, 16GB, and it ran stable at native resolution 55-60fps.
Some clean driving right there. Respect💯
GTA 4 is by far have one of the best driving systems in the industry til today, and is the best of gta titles until today. That's my opinion
It’s gotta be my favorite for sure
awesome driving! driving in gta iv is pretty satisfying honestly (for me atleast)
Thanks! I agree, can't beat driving fast and successfully avoiding crashes with some epic music on in this game
@@vectorlite5425 Hell yeah dudee!
Yessss
"gta 4 driving sucks" = major skill issue
The driving the fun in cars and even bikes… but helicopters…
GTA4 is what made me buy a Hummer. 😂 I freaking love that SUV and how the suspension works on it !!! Both in that game and real-life
😂😂😂
Hummers in this game are something I remember sometimes accidentally running into them at high speed with no chance to brake expecting a crash only to then drive right underneath it 😂
@@vectorlite5425 Lol yes the good times...🙌🏽 I remember taking it and flipping other cars with it too 🤣.
Ok now drive the cognoscenti, while getting chased
Sounds like a pain.. I did your suggestion except with a beater emperor :P video is on my channel in case you haven't seen
The main reason people dislike them is,because they drive with the expectation of arcade physics but then they hit a wall because they didn't brake
It’s not the driving that sucks, it’s the drivers.
Rockstar employee trying to save reputation
Man, that'd be something. I could be playing GTA 6 right now!
@@vectorlite5425 they always shame gta 4 for car handling. Not other gta. Clearly haters cant just drive 😂 cuz its not glued to the road like gta v
Speeding down the road, blasting Flashing Lights on the radio has still got to be my most satisfying videogame experience
For me, the driving is excellent, at first it is difficult because the braking is slower and the vehicle has weight when turning, but when you get the hang of driving it feels very satisfying and excellent , I prefer this driving more than GTA 5
The unrealistic part about the GTA 4 physics is the amount of suspension travel.
The cars in this game feel a lot closer to real cars than some racing games. I don't think outside of a BeamNG type game has there ever been more realistic handling and especially damage simulation... Is what I would say if swing sets didn't launch your car into space.
It's the bubble gum suspensions I could never get over... Just terrible
Never seen so much Bodyroll on a corvette lmao
GTA6 should have driving physics something between 4 and 5.
That’d be sweet
No full 4 only thing that should be changed is slightly less body roll but only when going slow and less body roll on cars with low suspension
It should be better than 4
I grossly underestimated the driving in GTA 4 as a kid and now as an adult, all I can say I appreciate the driving in it
Ngl, if you drive in Gta 4 Using a controller is hella satisfying, but kind of a hell using keyboard...
I actually been only using keyboard for like 10 yrs and that’s what I used in this video. But I just bought an Xbox controller for my pc for the first time and I really like using it. Already made a vid with it too lol
Bro proved the title right 💀
No he didn’t
boys would look at this and say "hell yeah"
Followed by “N- NO SHOT”
It has realistic driving physics. So, driving like you would in a real car is so satisfying. That doesn't mean going fast is any less fun.
Those skills man.... Like the comment if you want these kind of phisics or similar with loss of traction and body roll for gta6. Or even setting for arcade and realistic driving like mafia series.
Whats the song in the background?
its a song I made which I just uploaded!

"Driving in GTA4 sucks"
--- every noob who couldn't master this art
Driving in GTA 4 sucks. But I really like it, because it made it into a skill you learnt over time while you played the game more, and also made any mission or chase harder. In comparison, GTA 5 felt average on that front, you never felt like you could lose the mission at any point
Listening to kanye West, flashing lights, and all of the lights fits gta when you are either driving the infernus or coquette. There are so many songs in the game that fit the three main protagonists. Like, cult of personality (for Johnny Klebitz since he's a biker), animation by xilent for luis (since he is in the nightclub), and amazing by kanye West for niko.
i prefer gta v conduction over the gta iv one but it isnt that bad i like it in both games
the amount of time I've put into gta v is only a fraction of my time in gta iv so I'm much better in this game haha
Nice drive bro
Thank you man :)
People who say the driving is good in this game have never driven a real car
Stay mad nerd kid
They never said its realistic, its good not realistic like alot of arcade racing games where people like the driving cuz its challenging but rewarding
Pov: brakes fail but you have a good driver
A really nice and smooth trip
BTW, what's the traffic density set to? Some of those locations had a shit ton of cars
Thank you assassin :) for this run the density was at 100
@@vectorlite5425 I had a feeling it might have been. Nice job dealing with the traffic as well
They always forget "MY" at the beginning of that sentence.
More like "Driving skills of gta5 kids sucks 😸"
Right on brother!
Coming back to this video after learning how to drive like a pro.
"Ermm ackshually ur blinded by nostalgia, pls I'm desperate for u playing gta5" -🤓
Gta 4 is trash you kiddos
@@AnonymCheeseHead average gta5 fan:
@@Mon4rch average gta4 fan be like: ,,GTA 4 is better than Gta 5“ *all the time*
@@AnonymCheeseHead your mindless hate for gta4 isn't doing shit, sperg out all you want
Tbh the driving in GTA 4 may be exaggerated in some cases, but hey, atleast you can master the cars, unlike the bikes, Driving those shits is a punishment that I wouldn't wish on my enemy, fortunately in the DLCs R* realized that mistake and decided to improve it
the thing I like about the bikes despite how bad they might be is all the tiny gaps I can fit through :P
Gta 6 is going to have an option to have realistic driving and arcady driving
Just use SA's driving physics
Source: trust me bro
Liberty city is such a nostalgic yet dangerous place to live in America.
The thing is.. You was driving mostly straight. There is no problem with that in GTA 4. The problem is, that when you drive, the car feels like an iron, it cannot turn. It slows down a lot and leans over like it’s a whale on wheels.
It could be seen on the video, how hard it was to make this simple turn on a straight road 2:33
You can if you brake earlier and softer. If you play with a controller don't press the trigger all the way down, on keyboard tap the button to avoid locking (unless the vehicle has ABS, like the PMP-600 for example)
And always pay attention to elevation changes and traffic behavior
@@jnicorb The driving physics in GTAIV was not originally planned to make you drive fast. Just compare GTAIV and GTAV driving experience. In GTA5 you can drive fast and steer with no issues compared to GTAIV. But with that physics, driving in GTAV feels kind of arcade. Personally to me GTAV is more fun to drive compared to GTAIV though I would like the driving physics to be somewhere in the middle between GTAIV and GTAV
Not sure if just nostalgia but I also remember bumping less into cars because they suddenly decide to switch lanes when I drive by unlike GTA V.
Gta iv car models look more realistic to me for some reason
Same
We can all certainlly agree that most GTA 4 videos were about the driving physics because its just satisfying to install some mods and have some fun with the cars
I like this driving way more than that toy car physics from GTA V.
cars in gta 4 feel like they have weight, unlike most other games, including forza horizon. there is no feeling of weight of the car in those games at all.
Wrong. Both of you haven't drove a proper car. What a bad taste if you think gta 4 has realistic driving
Coquette, Sultan RS and the Comet are so goddamn fun to rip around the city in
Yeah! Coquette and sultan rs are my two that I drove the most
why can't the gta v driving be like this?
I remember driving being pretty high up on why I didn't like GTA 4 but it definitely wasn't the only reason I didn't like it and never finished it
Never played 4 yet, but man I really like the bouncy suspensions of the driving.
patience is key element of driving in gta 4
I mean I like the driving, it feels nice and weighty, and yes it took about half an hour to get used to but after that it was smooth sailing, the key was to not accelerate whilst turning.
It’s always funny coming back to it after say, playing gta V, first turn is a guarantied head on crash test with the nearest wall 😂
Name of the song please
This is banger.
1:35 man, that turn and exit was some smooth stuff. I always end up hitting the sign, or riding up against the wall on the highway exit haha.
Niko when Roman offered him go bowling during the assassination
i always love driving through star junction
"Driving in gta 4 sucks"
Said no one ever.
booted up gta online after playing gta 4 for a while, at first i thought the new police cars they added that i was driving had better handling just since they're police cars and all but then i remembered how unrealistically grippy and balanced gta 5 driving is.
people just need to get good at gta4's driving man, every moment of it is rewarding.
dads when its 7 hours left until the plane leaves:
People say driving in gta 4 feels like driving a boat meanwhile driving in gta 5 feels like driving an Hot Wheels cars toy.
I like my boat driving 😂
My favorite car to drive in any GTA game ❤
Corvette C5 is an absolute thing of beauty and i hope to own one someday :3
The suspension in this game is definitely softer than the real car but definitely more accurate than just about any other racing game out there, it actually feels like the car has suspension and isn’t just glued to the road, or so overly stiff that it doesn’t even feel like the suspension is moving around or doing anything. Way better than GTA 5
Yeah thats true, the driving's not perfect but it's so much more enjoyable than almost anything else. I hope you get that car too! Corvette is a brilliant car
So crazy how watching some random video of a player driving in this game makes me want to go play it! I love this game.
It’s cool to think that I motivate people sometimes 😊
Seeing how you drive is just so satisfying
Thank you :)
Compared to gta5 i find gta is more immersive and feels more packed, building, npc and having cars everywhere.
If you agree with title, we know it's a skill issue
The handling looks such smoother than GTA 5.
gran turismo and this along with asseto corsa have the best realistic driving physics
