It's a year later and I've finally been able to play this game. I am absolutely in love with and obsessed with it. It's a wonderful story filled with a colorful cast of characters and amazing music. And the plus is it's rekindled my love of mythology. I'm even tempted to post my gameplay on TH-cam just to share my version of the story.
Absolutely loved this! Laura immediately being like "MARY SOUNDS SO GOOD!" is such a mood and shows how much she loves everyone elses work just as much as hers ❤
The part where 'drifting' shows up in "its me" i always get teary. I relate to that feeling so much. Always being the person who has to do the dirty work, working so hard to protect everyone... only to find that ultimately i was powerless.
" My Olympus is gone And you’re all looking on At a stranger Wearing my face" >> I suggested we reprise "Adrift" through Athena but it was Yon (Simon Hall from Tripod) who geniusly gave it those lyrics
Folks, you probably will not read it, but, your game really helped me with my mental state. I am currently under a bit of pressure from the similar challenges that the game presents at the start, and, well, it's been a breeze of a fresh air. I genuinely feel better for the first time in months. I gotta pick up those oars. Thank you. Dearly.
Same sentiment here 🙂 One month ago I wrote on the comment this soundtrack has spoiled me. And nothing has changed since then. I still can't listen to anything else 😅
It's a blast getting to see everyone's reactions, and hear their thoughts! I'm glad they all had so much fun with this awesome project. :) Side-note: add, "Rap God," to Laura's list of accolades.
what an amazing brilliant choice for the minotaur... rahul gave such an epic performance. If they had cast someone who could sing it would not have made the same impact.. not even close.
The whole cast has such strong personalities, and it’s very evident how much passion went into this game and how much fun you guys had working on it. The positive energy around the entire game is so contagious, thanks for posting these behind the scenes bits!
It’s so interesting to hear the original scratch and see just how much each track evolved over time. Love each of their reactions to the final versions.
Man. Great hearing Rahul! Such a great job. & from a fellow actor, its s dream to hear him discover Musical Theatres strengths. Listen to the original cast recording of Last Five Years Rahul. You wont regret it.
I missed this for 9 days? The hell youtube?! Man, this was an AWESOME video! Seeing their first reaction to the final mix is pure gold. Awesome idea, awesome execution, just plain awesome all the way. Thanks Austin!
Alright, with so many good games out this summer and fall, I have been regrettably side tracked. But tonight, I'm adding this gem to the cart, lest the gods smite me
hey Austin! First of all: please keep on releasing videos about the Stray Gods :) Another one thing I like in this soundtrack is the retro feeling of the electric guitar used (stratocaster?) in various moments (e.g. can be heard in the "A Muse Elicits" track). Maybe this is a weird association but when I heard this for the first time I thought about "The Last Run" OST. And especially the Stray Gods' "End Credits" somehow corresponded in my head to the "Main Title" of "The Last Run". I can't explain why. The orchestration is completely different... But maybe the overall mood, feeling of it...? :) I have 2 questions related to the process: 1. From what I understand you worked with Tripod on creating the song's lyrics and basic harmony. At this point did you have any idea about how the orchestration will look like or not yet? 2. After actors voices being recorded, were you the main person responsible for the next steps - i.e. creating the orchestration and production?
I found the game through the music and instantly had to play it to understand the story being told. Each song stands so well on its own but as a whole project, i love listening to it.
I have been watching and listening you Austin, talking about the things you love for more than 3 years now. And this video is a perfect example to observe how happy you are to share something beautiful that you created and how you get happy when others appreciate it. Please keep up the great work! P.S. I bought the game as a Steam present for my friend and he loves it.
Alas this is the only that there will be; I had to record them before it came out so no one would know how their finals sound. But now all the cast knows! Would've loved to get Khary for this! He's so great
I'm late to this party but OMG... I had to let you know that this game is amazing. Congratulations on what you created, on ALL of the voice talent assembled, and and... just wow.
I've seen this game around and loved the art style and concept, but I'm not big on musicals so I never looked that far into it. Now that I know you're involved, however, I may have to pick it up.
We really need Laura to stream her playthrough, I genuinely want to see her reactions to the whole game!
That would be so fun!
@@awintoryIf you streamed your playthrough, that would be awesome, too
That would be fun. I just finished my first playthrough and loved it so much. Everyone is so good.
OMG, Stray Gods karaoke night! We need to make this happen, people!

I knew Rahul Kohli's work since "I, Zombie" TV series, his voice fits minotaur character so well!
Love the game and music, Austin!
Please I’d love to see the reactions from Troy, Mary Elizabeth, Anjali and Merle (just the whole cast really)!! We need more Stray Gods content 😭💛

Sorry to hear you've been facing challenges but very happy that the game provided some helpful catharsis
Please please more Stray Gods content! This game has replaced my life lol, I am so addicted to the songs!

And Soprano Mistress too!

My brother just gifted my the game for my birthday and I had play it so many times! I love how many little variations of the songs I keep finding
It's so interesting to watch everyones' reactions, WIth the angle of me having stray gods albums on my daily playlists ever since the game came out!
This was amazing to watch, thanks for sharing Austin! :)
Beautiful people!

This was such a cool idea to play the music for the actors!! Great work Austin!
This is AWESOME We need more Cast Reacts (Pan my beloved plz )
Alas this is the only that there will be; I had to record them before it came out so no one would know how their finals sound. But now all the cast knows! Would've loved to get Khary for this! He's so great
Laura’s rap part sounds like her channeling a little bit of Vex there.
I also feel like the blue version of challenging a queen has some serious Vex and Zahra vibes too
Look into me is DEFINITELY my favorite from the game and seeing Laura react to it is awesome :D
10:03 no no no no no no no you can't cut here !!!! 😁
haha! Sorry :)
Would love to hear the tripod boys versions of all the songs or a conversation with all the song writers about the tracks
I'm late to this party but OMG... I had to let you know that this game is amazing. Congratulations on what you created, on ALL of the voice talent assembled, and and... just wow.
I always like this kind of music, being inspired by recent Lin-Manuel movies like Encanto.
Woah I didn't know Felicia is the voice of Athena! Her voice is so beautiful!❤
Excited to watch this! But it should be “Kohli” in the title 🙂
Ah you're right, fixed! Thanks!
I've seen this game around and loved the art style and concept, but I'm not big on musicals so I never looked that far into it. Now that I know you're involved, however, I may have to pick it up.
Cool!
Thanks for the count down to 40 playlist.
And just asking if you have heard of hildegard von blingen?
Yes in fact if you look up a film from ~2010 called LEAVE that I scored, you'll hear that the main thematic material is based on her melodies :)
@@awintoryHildegard von Bingen was the luminary composer. Von Blingen is a series of pop music works adapted for medieval ensembles!
Just finished last night
Austin loses more facial hair as the video goes on.
I am Benjamin Button
@@awintoryYou jest... But you really are! 🤣
Does anyone know what kind of headphones Laura is wearing?
if I had to take a guess I reckon it could be the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro - makes sense for a VA with their own recording booth/studio at home
Rahul still living with Alanah apparently.
