are the same strategies used for kiddos who put too much pressure on the pencil to the extent that when using markers the points always gets pushed in and flat.
Hey Salsha! Thanks for the question. For too much pressure, my favorite strategy is giving my students mechanical pencils. That way, if they press too hard, the tip breaks (this usually prompts students to write more lightly). Strategies that I also use include practicing shading and providing sandpaper to write on top of (these were 2 strategies also mentioned in the video above). Also, make sure before you start any writing activity that the student's hands are warmed up. I like to have them do hand squeezes, play with playdoh, or complete animal walks beforehand. I hope that helps!
Thank you Dana for this amazing video...❤️ if you don’t mind another video suggestion from me.. activities to increase eye contact for pre schoolers ? Thank you & stay safe 😊😊
What should i do if my child doesn't pay attention to writing, i think that's the reason he wont hold the pencil with pressure, i think his mind is wandering, or not just interested in writing... Should i start practicing writing at 3 yrs old or just wait until he is 4? How can i increase his attention to activity? If you already have a video bout it pls comment link 🙂 thanks
Hi Issa! Thank you so much for your question. At 3, your little one is building up their fine motor skills and just learning to hold writing utensils. I wouldn't worry about writing quite yet! Instead, if you want to do pencil and paper stuff, have him practice coloring/scribbling/drawing/painting. At this stage, the emphasis is getting your little guy to like using writing utensils and associate good things with it! I'll attach some videos below with activities you can do together :)
But what if a kid writes too strongly and has a punch like grip? My younger brother struggles. And I have to teach him instead cos my mom works and my dad's not with us. 🤣
Hey there! Thank you for reaching out and working so hard to help your little brother. I know exactly what you mean by punch-like grip. There are two very quick videos I want you to watch! Here's the first one - it's about how to teach him to hold him a pencil correctly : th-cam.com/video/eq1hlbitwEs/w-d-xo.html Here's the second video I want you to watch! It's about strategies to decrease pencil pressure - give these both a watch and let me know if you have any other questions :) th-cam.com/video/vIh3o6Zyq1s/w-d-xo.html
