MOMOTARO & GENKI Family ( Momotaro Fam)
Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Here in Frankfurt, West Germany, we also have a zoo where there are gorillas. I haven't been there for a long time and a lot has changed there in the meantime. If Gentaro comes here, I would visit him very often. But at this point it is not yet clear what will happen next for Gentaro and where he will ultimately end up overseas. We have to wait. 🙆
I really hope that everything will be fine for Gentaro, the main thing is that he leads a happy life with his wife and children. 🦍🦍🐒🐒🐒💖💞

Thank you for the wonderful news about my baby Gentaro (he’ll always be my baby) And my Momotaro’s family gorilla troop. Lope is the very first younger gorilla 🦍 I feel in love with 😍. But the video of teeny tiny Gentaro, he was nothing but them eyes and I swear he was smiling 🙂, then that’s all it took I loved him from that day on and he’ll be my baby till the end of time 😊.. Thank you for the updates. I do hope that this comes more sooner than later. I think it’s a wonderful idea to move Gentaro overseas. They all deserve a chance to live within another troop with their own families and by they I am also including Shabani children and Haoko children which several are already for that move as well. Kiyo and Komomo for sure need to secure a spot somewhere other than Japan. I would love to see some of them come to the US. We have some wonderful zoos. Again thank you and hope to hear some more good news for their future.
He said in his opinion he thinks it will be somewhere in Asia. I guess when he said ABROAD we didn’t think of the rest of Asia

That’s why mono needs a another wife, then what will happen to mono and genki when Kintro leaves. Gentro deserves his chance to have a family regardless where it is. We can only pray that the zoo is safe and healthy for him!!

This is great news im very happy to hear about the upgrades coming. That is a big step for the primates. And I really do hope they will do what's best for the young gorillas Gentaro, and Kintaro. While I personally think they would benefit especially Gentaro because he is older , if they are able to find him a perfect home elsewhere so he can start his own family but I'm certain politics also play a big role in his future. I just hope and pray that all who is involved will do the right thing for him. But at least things are looking up. Thank you for the video's and the updates 🙏

I'm in Canada and would LOVE to see some gorillas here, (especially Gentaro!) but I think it would probably be a bit cold for them. We do have Chimpanzee sanctuaries, in British Columbia and Quebec. But, they are kept indoors, during the winter. ❤❤
I have a friend in Toronto, and she goes to the zoo to watch the troop of gorillas there, I believe the silverback's name is Charles. I also know there is another troop in Calgary which
has a 2-year-old female, Eyare. I don't know if you are close to these cities. There may be more, I am not familiar.

The current situation is dangerous and I worry, not only for Gentaro, but also for Genki and Kintaro who are also affected by Momotaro's fits of rage. I pray that Gentaro will soon find a new home where he can be safe because he is a lovely animal. If you speak to Kyoto Zoo, please pass on the concerns of myself and others who follow the gorillas. It’s sad when animals grow up and need to move but I am happy because that means there will be a Gentaro Baby and the momo gene pool will live on I wish Japan zoo would send some to the US I would love to see him

cool this is good information to know. i really think that their housing needs improvement if they are going to stay at the same zoo. also, i believe it is time for the two younger gorillas to be separate from their father. as gentaro has been showing displaying more often as well as i know that he recently bit momotaro. sadly, it is ime for them to split before a gorilla gets seriously hurt

GL has no say in the decisions made for Gentaro or any of the gorillas in Japan. He just tells us information he finds out.

I’m confused a little…this doesn’t seem like much of an update other than a plan to build more. Is there any significant news regarding Gentaro himself? Is there a date for when he leaves the family officially? And when he leaves, will he be living on his own? Or will it be with a bachelor troop? Or will it be with a female for a new family (I wish they would tell us if him and Annie were a possibility)? I don’t mean to downplay the news, but I just feel like those questions are most important.
Still, I do applaud this Zoo, as they are actually trying to let the public know about the future of these gorillas. As for the Shabani troop, it has been silence about what they plan to do with Kiyomasa and Annie. Maybe it is because they all have such a great relationship still…particularly Shabani and Kiyo. Has anyone here heard any rumors about Kiyo or Annie?
Kiyomasa is the only one that gives Shabani attention & affection. Shabani may get bored, depressed & angry without his son Kiyomasa's companionship.
Don’t repeat rumors. Wait until real information is released. It only makes trouble for everyone if you repeat rumors.

You do realize that GL has no say in where they send Gentaro, right? He just makes videos for people to watch. He is a visitor to that zoo just like if I went to my zoo and made a channel to post my videos.

If this family were in the wild, in Nature, Gentaro would leave on his own. He would not stay with his family forever. You should want what is best for him and his family. Not what you want. If he goes overseas let’s all hope and pray he is taken very good care of. Hopefully he will come to the U.S. as there are some excellent zoos in America. If he would go to the St.Louis Zoo I will be able to go see him. But I want them to pick the best place possible for him no matter where it is.

It's a shame that they live so long over 12 years in a small habitat and when you see all the other habitats with grass to move around and you still want to collect money shame on you I seen another video with subtitles and visitors said oh it's so small and she had the nerve to repeat what the visitors were saying for this gorilla family very heartbreaking

Yes the behavior is the same man would never know why they do things and that's what it is only God knows but to have them looked at constantly all day people talking in the videos not knowing what they saying because a lot of us do not know their language and you wonder why they upset all the time and that small box know where to get away from it
I watch other exhibits they relocated them made necessary updates to their exhibit then brought them back I never once saying anything changed in this exhibit for the living quarters the mother been through tremendous turmoil in her life and she had to endure so much in this new exhibit and you wondered why she she wasn't so engaging with the zookeepers she remembered where she came from she remembered the simple things grass bigger enclosure it took years for you to figure out her mental status shame on you you had the funds you had videos you had people making money off of them you had it and still asking for more donations and they are still living in a little box shame on you
I don’t think you know much about these gorillas or this zoo or how much money they have available. Criticizing them doesn’t help anything. It just makes GL’s channel uncomfortable to watch and read comments.

You need to back up a bit....any funds are donated to help the family, that's what GL does, he's the only channel (as far as I know) that does this...stop beating a dead horse. GL's channel has many considerate subscribers, but constant repeated negative replies will be in violation of his comment posting guidelines. Please be respectful and considerate for all he does do for the Momotaro family and us, his viewers.
I'm sorry but I'm just upset when you see other exhibits and see how they treat their animals and then you come over here and see how they are treated is just sickening mommy and daddy know what grass says their two sons never seen it never felt it I seen how they transition the Young adult gorilla on other exhibits and and the transition seems to be working I never seen any effort from you all to even think about finding a new location for them with more space to roam around yes they all had the same habits and personalities regardless how big their exhibit is but they're much happier
I don’t think you know much about these gorillas even though you watch the videos. Saying bad things about the zoo doesn’t help the gorillas or anybody. I’m sure the zoo is doing the best it can with the money they have. Unless you are rich and can donate millions of dollars for them to expand I think you should stop criticizing. It doesn’t help anything and only makes people feel bad to read it.
@@RebeccaWilson-p9pthank you, I agree...not all zoos have the finances to build luxurious habitats for their animals...people have to realized it takes planning, space and mostly money, to complete such a feat. Their structure is very high so they have a lot of vertical space, and many climbing abilities. To them, it's home.
The guy making these videos I know you make money from this on your channel why don't you donate that money to the momotaro family zoo

I seen male gorillas loving on their offsprings nurturing them loving them playing with them I seen mother's loving on all their offsprings nurturing them playing with them which we don't see this with this group only the youngest one and yes she loves her oldest one also shame on you shame on you and still asking for more money the food is different even the hay is different

Maybe not, becuase a new enclosure would be constructed for ape. This is my personal opinion.
