  • Here is the latest installment of me showing off my basses. This is the Ibanez SRH505F fretless 5 string. I think I played it mostly in tune! Feel free to ask any questions and thanks for watching,

Appreciate the video, good stuff. I've got the fretless srf705 portamento, I'm in love with it. I started off learning upright bass in elementary school, so the the sound from these basses really speak to me.

Hello! Great demo! Do you have any noise coming out from your SRH505F? I have some very broad-band noise which is hard to remediate with selective band cancellation. Tried different freshly re-charged batteries, but still the same.

Hello, thanks! No, I don’t have any noise. I wonder if yours may have a bad ground or wiring issue?

Hows the balance ? I heard something about neck dive.

I haven't noticed anything substantial. I use a wide leather strap and have no issues.

I was under the impression that the body was supposed to be mahogany and the fretboard was supposed to be rosewood with only a panga neck, seriously rethinking purchase of one of these now.

Definitely a panga panga fretboard and spruce top. Okume is similar to mahogany, I believe. Are you rethinking in a positive or negative way?

@@KPJohnson Negative, true mahogany has such different tone properties, its heavier but the density effects resonance, I'll have to see if I can find an older model in good condition.
Edit: in consultation with my grandfather, no, okoume is nothing like mahogany other than in color when aged. When it comes to durability, density, hardness, it's akin to soft maple. But what does he know, our family has only been in this buisness for 300 years.
