You all are so lucky , compared to when I was there. More modern facilities , hotel like dorms , clean secure . You've got a place to start in life, a home - job - free food , uniforms, I was there - so lucky. Do the whole tour and get that world exposure and retirement check .Then retire and get another job plus that retirement check. At 65 yrs old , you'll have 3 income checks!!! / good luck👌👌👌
Damn a lot has changed since 1989 when I got to Norfolk on the airstation side U16 barracks. We still had community showers and the whole nine lol. Can't hate tho, enjoy your time in VA, learn your rate and excel in it. Take all the advantages the Navy has to offer and make sure you have no regrets at the end of your tenure.
I see everything has change alot since I was there I miss it a lot I still go on base and visit old friends and the beach it's a lot to do at the ocean front

Norfolk had much better barracks arrangements thank San Diego they had PPV as well if you look up a video I’m sure you’ll see one but San Diego has much better city life in my opinion you will never get bored here you can also go to LA or Las Vegas anytime

Are your roommates cool, do y'all like have a schedule or plan for who cleans the kitchen and bathroom on what days type of situation? if you know what I mean lol. Do y'all like get along? Because not only do you have to get along with your own roommate you also have to get along with the roommates in the next room.

WOW I was there in winter 81-82 (1981 that is) and the barracks were all the old style, open bay, they tore those down a long time ago.

No I already had good equipment I just had my parents ship it to me but I did think about upgrading but I just decided to save my money.

There’s a lot of storage room under the bed for shoes to go, I have about 30 pairs of shoes/ heels neatly under there

It is about a 7 minute walk form x-2 and a 2 minute drive but some other barracks buildings are right across from it.
