Right? I watched "The Silence of the Lambs" right after the end of Season 2, because I read Buffalo Bill and Hannibal was inspired from Brudos and Kemper. As good as the movie is, it suddenly felt fake and theatrical (corny and cringy)
Learning Cameron was a preschool teacher for 8 years isn’t surprising because he’s such a sweetheart but it just goes to show what a dynamic, brilliant actor he is. It’s the most terrifying and accurate portrayal of a serial killer I’ve ever seen.
I know someone already said it but my favorite character has to be Bill. He's such an honest guy who's trying his best to be a good employee, father, husband, and man but since he can't be everything at once, he never gets credit for his effort. Despite that he remains humble and honest. If we get a breakdown from him in Season 3 where he begins crying alone, I feel like it would be really impactful. With the stuff he deals with, he can't hold it in forever.
Don't know if it's the depravity of Kemper, or the quality of Britton, but I find myself surprised how even the hint of 'Kemper's' intonation in Britton's natural speaking voice still manages to squick me out. On its own, it would be innocuous and unremarkable. But having seen the season, it still carries a unconscious level of menace.
This is one of the best Q&A's I've seen. I loved Abraham's questions, the way he allowed the actors to speak for long periods of time - and didn't rush their answers, the actors' thoughtful replies and their chemistry together as a group, and the audience questions weren't idiotic - as they are most of the time. Bravo Vulture!
I'm not familiar with this host, but I find he didn't have good questions for Anna, his question to her about the cat seemed like an afterthought. My observation.
You know that the crime segment is and has always been neglected by awards. It's more about comedy, entertainment and benign drama. Cameron Britton was nominated but someone from This is Us won. -_-
@Dingle Barry uhm I disagree. She got a lot more air-time in season 2, now we know alot about her character, who she dates, she even did the interviews herself (with the other guy in the team, can't remember his name)
I miss Mindhunter so much. I can't believe Netflix passes it over for such a cult hit, and doesn't make more of it. The show is so well-scripted, well-acted, directing, production, cinematography and music score, it's so awesome.
Holy fucking shit this comment is brilliant!! I got chills down my spine. I can totally see it - that would make so much sense for his character...why he’s so interested. You should be a writer for the show! I hope they write that in somehow!!

Rotten Tomatoes Rating for "Fringe": 90% critics & 93% audience. Rotten Tomatoes Rating for "Mindhunter": 97% critics & 95% audience. Well played Anna Torv. Well played!
I still can't believe myself watching a good 53 minutes interview thoroughly and religiously. This interview is brilliant and offers a different kind of perspective. I can count it as a masterclass itself.
I love how smart Anna Torv is, even when she first did Fringe interviews she always knew what she was talking about! Most celebrities don't seem to bother, especially with TV shows, like the interviewer said, some just go in and say their lines and go home, but Anna actually goes the extra mile and researches what she is pretending to do in the shows she is in! They are all really great in the show though, Cameron was frighteningly spot on with Ed Kimper! Holt though has such a ruff persona, like you can really see him as some military guy or a detective or of course a FBI agent, he really looks and acts the part very well, and again knows what he is talking about! And Jonathan is so different from his character, I was one of those who expected him to become a serial killer himself, because he really is so weird and at time creepy, lol! Can't wait until season 2, it saddens me that we will probably have to wait until 2019 to see it, I was expecting it to come around the same as season 1 did, around November, but I guess not! But as much as I want to see it, I am kind of glad they are taking their time with it, so it will be just as good as the first or maybe even better! It really came across like a really long movie, not like a TV show! Seeing as they film on location, and the fact that they do those long scenes they were talking about too, which is what they usually do with movies, not TV shows! In TV shows scenes tend to look rushed at times, a little too short to be like real life! It reminds me of a lot of the British crime dramas I have watched on Netflix actually, which tends to be more real like, because it has a more gritty way about it, there's no flinching on the really horrible parts, so you really feel sometimes like your a fly on the wall, watching something that is really happening at times! Its especially so with Mindhunter! Now I feel like rewatching it again, lol! I've already watched it a few times already, lol!
I'd heard that they're going for 5 seasons. I'm curious to see how the BTK storyline unfolds considering the real life timeline, if they pace the release of the following seasons properly, perhaps they can run the show long enough to create the illusion of 25-30 yeare gone by to serve a sense of "realism". I would like to see the show also explore Gary Ridgeway in the future.
I only know Cameron Britton through the show, so his voice really sounds eerie to me because of how well he acts on the show as Ed Kemper. Damn it's hard to take him as a regular person.
He also is in the Umbrella Academy! It was weird seeing him play such a disturbing character after his character that was likeable, almost adorable even though he still killed people (in a comedic way).
Terrible questions for Anna; asking about working with cats and the scene not even making the show? Nice save on Jonathan’s part. Informative otherwise. They all seem so friendly and there’s absolutely a chemistry there. Eager for season 3!!
Cameron Britton deservedly has a place at the table. In a way he is the star. And he's so good in the show it was so believably chilling, his performance specifically. And then I was so glad to see him in Umbrella Academy so even though he was playing a hired assassin it was way lighter.
The Ed Kemper scenes are some of the most interesting of the whole series, they sort of became the scenes I was most anticipating as the series kept going. And wow Anna Torv is beautiful ❤️❤️
Mindhunter is just an amazing show. its beautifully acted and shot. I love the dialogue from each actor and how carefully they were cut. You can clearly see in the show that each one of them gave their best. You can actually see a character development and how it's affecting them. Each shot really fits whats happening and how it connects with the audience. I give this show a 10/10.
oh thank god! Finally a decent conversation about the sexual part of the show. That's such a huge part of it but obviously not appropriate for regular interviews. I'd read essays about it in this show. Also curious to the choice to make Wendy a lesbian, since the real woman was married to a man with kids. It was a good move to keep their group from getting incestuous, but to have a gay woman in the 70's when it's still considered a perversion when they're studying people with 'true' perversions is a bold choice that they really haven't touched yet.
figures, literally wrote this moments before it got to someone asking this question. Glad she seems to clearly acknowledge that part of her character and knows the background on it, and that her character is the advocate to differentiate between things that are and are not 'perverse' surrounded by a bunch of vanilla straight white men. Since they couldn't have had poc or openly out person in the FBI back then her character was a sneaky way of getting a 'minority' voice into the mix to call out the privileged cis male views
@@margomaybe7570 have you ever seen Criminal minds? Even though the BAU has almost no women in it in real life, half the cast is women. It's a TV show, they do what they want. It wasn't bold. There's plenty of gay characters on TV. Funnily enough z those privileges white men watch and support those shows.
@@allsystemsgo8678 I think Margo was saying that most lesbian woman were in the closet in the 70's. They risked losing their job back then, so that was a little unrealistic is all she was saying.
Sad that Anna Torv didnt get much chance in this interview. Her character is so interesting. Would like to know more about her approach to the character.
I do agree … I might say that we were spoiled by Cameron on Kemper which left me too waiting for more background on Carr. I didn't feel she didn't have enough air time though in general … just should of had more time on her relationship to the character as you rightly said. Holt fortunately didn't overplay his 'senior actor on the set' card too often … hmm maybe he did. Seems he had a role to play regarding speaking up about the creator and Netflix's … probably pre arranged, but cant blame him for that. It's an industry after all. Just sharing my opinion though.
What a fantastic bunch - it is clear they all have a good connection with each other and respect each other. No one tried to steal the limelight. They must have a great time working together. Jonathan Groff has made that part his own, Holt McCallany holds the show together, Anna Torv is stunning and super talented and Cameron Britton was outstanding as Kemper. Can't wait for season two.
Just binged on season 2, now hurry up season 3 ! The portrayals of the serial killers is astounding ! That’s just one of the great things about this show
Every character is so well-written. I am so shaken by Holden’s character because for the others, Holden is like a 5-year-old being excited/enthusiastic/distracted about everything, and the fact that others have to babysit him just shows he has so much passion. Absolutely in love with the show and characters. Great work❤️ Their resumes must be so beefed up:)
I love the character Bill Tench, he's so leveled and rational. ON the other hand, especially this second season, I hated Holden Ford, for being so arrogant. All of them great actors, Cameron is amazing!
Bill Tench is so great! I love how he steers the direction of the department. He keeps tabs on Holden. He leads the rest of the team so well because he isnt micromanaging, but he is letting them do what they do best. He knows how to work a room full of politicians so well, it makes me wish I could be such a social butterfly like him. He is such a professional and knows how to behave within the "good ol boys club." I didnt think I would end up liking Tench more than Holden, but season 2 really drew me closer to Tench so much!
"Murder is apart of our society and it doesn't seem to be going away". A very chilling premonition on Holt's account that is recently as relevant as it was then.
He finally has a big leading roll in a huge well received project. Personally I think he kills it on the show. I'd be excited if I was holt. Well deserved recognition he is getting.
I loved this show so much that I marathon watched both seasons and went back to do it for the second time. I have never watched something back to back like this. Please say there will be more seasons! All of the actors and actresses are brilliant! My favourite is the actor who portrays Edmund. And omg, the ending of season one with him and Holden with one of my favourite Zeppelin songs playing in the background. There are no words to how creepily amazing that scene was!!!
Is Anna Torv the sister/twin of Cate Blanchett?? They both look similar, are Australian, exude intelligence, are fantastic actors, have the same dignified vibe and have a ton of charisma. Like, she could be as regal a Galadriel as Cate.
Cameron Britton what an actor men ! ,i never saw him before "mindhunter" what a talent he got for bringing Ed character that good and seeing him talking in this Q&A he is very cultivated when it comes to serial killers world...
2:20 - I feel like Britton's confusion regarding Kemper's ability to be intimate was too easily dismissed by Torv as a common bi-product of a killer's narcissism and inability and/or desire to show empathy for others. Like Britton I find it to be odd too because narcissism is commonplace within all of humanity but the sadistic, heartless, and cold-blooded murdering of strangers isn't common. I'd expect killers like Ed to always behave like monsters unfit for society but instead he can flip it on and off. That's bizarre to me and in all honesty frightening.
I think there's something to say for both viewpoints. There is definitely a contradiction between the ability to commit such horrendous crimes and being such a relatively polite communicator. But if killers like Ed would "always behave like monsters unfit for society", people might look at them differently - from the view Anna presented, he doesn't care about those people themselves, only about their respect or approval. But then a victim seems to represent a feeling or a trauma of their own (which is more important to them than the life of the actual person) and that changes how he treats them.
Well don't the professionals say "not all narcissists are psychopaths but all psychopaths are narcissists" ? If this is true then her response was spot on.
Maybe the intra-cerebral process which monitor ourselves socially are separate from the ones which control empathy. Understanding human emotions involves the amigdala (part of the limbic system), part of the primary motor cortex (the part which controls facial expressions) and mirror neurons primarily. Anyway emotions are seems to be driven and understood at a more ancient (developmentally speaking) level of our brain, being more calculative and rational is more specific to the neocortex. Also mulfunctions at the emotional level could explain it. Or maybe in the perception of enviorement's stimulis and to the meaning attribuited to them (meaning influenced by conditioning, which is leaning more on the "killers are formed"). Who knows? The point is that different process are involved, and these process interact with the enviroment and are everchanging in very peculiar ways. It ia very complicate matter indeed.
She did seem to dismiss him and his answer... almost as though what he said was the definition of a serial killers personality traits. Also did he seem confused during the entire interview and uncomfortable and sweaty where no one else seemed that way? The actor who plays Bill tench seem to be trying to get him through the interview by talking to him directly face to face.
@@scobbysnack12601 I believe the main three actors had gotten to know each other well during the filming but not Cameron, and so he felt a bit uncomfortable among them during the interview.

@@nawal10 show is set into late 70s too , it's hard to do production fast , I wish they had more scenes of son of Sam and Manson , they both nailed it especially Manson.
To Cameron Britton's first comment: I understand the disconnect, serial killers don't care about a human life but care about human perception. I think the connector is the need for control. Serial killers kill someone, in that way taking absolute control over their life. They can do it to whom they want and how they want to. Caring about human perception is also about control. You want to control how people perceive you, you want people to see you the way you want to be seen or interpreted.
I'm glad to see this show is getting more attention! I love it. I watched Season 1 ages ago and waiting so eagerly for Season 2. When it finally came out, I watched it in 2 days...haha! Awesome cast, awesome script, fantastic production!

My daughter now gets a kick out of me singing Jonathan's songs from Hamilton. I'm so impressed with his talent and range. This wait for Season 3 is tough. I hope that they don't simply abandon the remainder of this series.
@@mikayocc I have not. They have everything pretty closed down when filming. I can tell by looking at the road signs and stuff that this is set in northwest Atlanta. I believe from our bridge and a small ice cream stand and gas station that they transformed that they will be profiling Wayne Williams the suspected Atlanta child murderer of the late 70s and 80s. That's just a guess though.

This show is so well acted. You really feel like you are watching true FBI agents. Other criminal shows seem "fake" now. Brilliant show!
Right? I watched "The Silence of the Lambs" right after the end of Season 2, because I read Buffalo Bill and Hannibal was inspired from Brudos and Kemper. As good as the movie is, it suddenly felt fake and theatrical (corny and cringy)
@@ArvinYorro Agree
Exactly!
Criminal Mind is very accurate with this topic.
Learning Cameron was a preschool teacher for 8 years isn’t surprising because he’s such a sweetheart but it just goes to show what a dynamic, brilliant actor he is. It’s the most terrifying and accurate portrayal of a serial killer I’ve ever seen.
Johnathan Groff's butt was the star of Season 2.
True
Ikr! He's thicc!
Nelson Betancourt actually
he's thicc af
I thought that's what was WRONG with season two- not enough Holden.
Right because he is being so strong but I think he did have a little breakdown when he was talking to Manson but I know what you mean
Specially when he was projecting and conceptualizing his son's issues with the killers he worked with and investigated.
Jonathan Groff seem like such an unlikely actor to play Holden! He is so charming in real life and Holden is such a cold Turkey.
"Pizza?"
"You GUYYYYS"

One of the all time great lines in television.

It was. The question was soooooo stupid. "Holden" did his best :)

It wasn't a bad question at all.
Squick.....new fav word! 😂😂😂
you should def watch Kempers original tapes.
Totally. Kempner is an unforgettable character. The combination of the brilliance and the darkness - astonishing. Epic performance by Britton.
Agreed
Yeah, great host. No narcissism. He let the artists’ get deep. Very well done. I’d watch more of these if that guy did the interviews.
Good observation!..
I'm not familiar with this host, but I find he didn't have good questions for Anna, his question to her about the cat seemed like an afterthought. My observation.
Yes. Ironically at 28:50 with his stumbling through questions to Anna about cats and Australia, that's when I realized his deftness.
Aw poor Greg, even left out of the panel.
More love for Gregg!! Hopefully Joe Tuttle's role will be a bit more substantial in S3. #GreggArmy

It would be a catastrophe if this show doesn't get Emmy nominations especially for drama series and acting
You know that the crime segment is and has always been neglected by awards. It's more about comedy, entertainment and benign drama. Cameron Britton was nominated but someone from This is Us won. -_-
I agree...at least won a few awards
Would also be a catastrophe if Netflix doesn't do another season.

I miss Mindhunter so much. I can't believe Netflix passes it over for such a cult hit, and doesn't make more of it. The show is so well-scripted, well-acted, directing, production, cinematography and music score, it's so awesome.
Anyone else think Agent Holden actually fits the serial killer type.
Holy fucking shit this comment is brilliant!! I got chills down my spine. I can totally see it - that would make so much sense for his character...why he’s so interested. You should be a writer for the show! I hope they write that in somehow!!
At some point in season 1 I was in belief that Holden will kill his girlfriend in the end .
Because he’s a narcissist? Yes

Clara Johnson I watched it thrice....

Can you picture Cameron surrounded by toddlers? A cuddly giant
This is the new way of the movies!! I hope we get 6 seasons!
shmoonuf HECK YEAH!
idk guys we have seen Fincher ditch shows before, for example House of Cards...
Filthy Dan yes i think they actually confirmed that they are getting 5 seasons !
6 seasons and a movie!!!!
@@jessicaryder5282 OMG i liked that character i never knew it was him!!

One of the best thing's to come out of Hollywood in a long time .
oh thank god!

Holt is pretty calming too.
Wish they would rethink and proceed with Season 3, 4, 5, ......

Holt is just as intelligent, thoughtful and composed as Bill Tench!
What happened to their faces? They're not yellow anymore.

Then season 2 was just all yellow faces!

Holt is so different from his character, he looks overexcited in this haha
He finally has a big leading roll in a huge well received project. Personally I think he kills it on the show. I'd be excited if I was holt. Well deserved recognition he is getting.
Britton should win something for playing Kemper. He is chilling.
Cameron sits there, smiling and looking so lovable. I often need to see an actor being like that when they have played a scary role.
Is Anna Torv the sister/twin of Cate Blanchett?? They both look similar, are Australian, exude intelligence, are fantastic actors, have the same dignified vibe and have a ton of charisma. Like, she could be as regal a Galadriel as Cate.
Minty i thought the same she‘s like a younger version of Care Blanchett
