If I had a nickel for every time Disney built a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge at DCA, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's still weird that it happened twice.
It is a strange thing! 😂
NO
@@Aaaadisiznejddososydbs YES
Im gonna be honest here, the original Sunshine Plaza postcard entrance was really cool.
Glad you liked it!
@@FM7Studios for a more controversial take: Superstar Limo was an awesome idea and would have worked amazingly at some small park with a minimal budget. It was just not a good fit for Disney.
(No, seriously, imagine Superstar Limo at some place like Six Flags Magic Mountain or Knott's Berry Farm. It would be a smash hit!)
Yep. It Was A Good Idea, But Not A Good Made
Them making the sanfransokyo bridge is the biggest blatant proof that Disney loves to make mistakes over and over again.
Yeah, I’m not totally onboard with the new bridge!
@@FM7Studios Wait! It’s still there??
The ceramic mural was stunning. It’s a crime that it was demolished. Disney makes some horrible decisions.
I agree, it was nice to look at!
I remember when California Adventure first opened, and I remember the original California post card themed entrance gate with the sun sticking out, that place used to be so dull where no Disney characters, no other Disney themed rides, no nothing (OK except for the California Screamin' and Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror which is a highlight of the theme park), there's Bug's Land before it became Avengers Campus, and Bountiful Vally Farms which shows the Caterpillar vehicles, this theme park was just like a walkthrough experience. However, when I returned to California Adventure for the first time in my Grad Night at high school, it's all updated, refurbished, and much better with Sunshine Plaza being replaced by Buena Vista Street where Walt Disney's movies being premiered, and it's gotten a lot better than the opening day, as Bountiful Valley Farms replaced with Cars Land to save the park from bankruptcy due of how the Cars franchise being popular.
Then Paradise Pier re-themed to Pixar Pier all because of Toy Story: Midway Mania which I loved that ride, closing Tower of Terror with Mission Breakout at first is an outrage, then later it became a highlight like fifteen times than Tower of Terror, and with the opening of Avengers Campus, I'm blowing away as one of my favorite rides of Avengers Campus is Web Slingers, it's like Midway Mania but more five times fun and interactive. I'm glad the Imagineers did the right thing and their choices to save California Adventure and made it a lot better than the opening day and original version of California Adventure.
Honestly, Sunshine Plaza looked like a cheap mall, so Buena Vista St is a massive improvement. There's a part of me that misses the tackiness of DCA 1.0 and stuff like the instrumental Beach Boys music. Makes me flashback to my 20s
I liked the original entrance and plaza. What makes me sad about the current DCA entrance is it's the same as Hollywood Studios and the only thing making it unique is that Buena Vista Street is unique with it's layout. But, it sill reminds me of Hollywood Studios in many ways and that makes me a little sad.
I used to work at DCA from '02-'04. Almost nothing is the same from that time. It's nearly a whole new park!
It’s very different but in a good way!
This is like extremely high quality for how specific it is
Like I don’t even know how you find this stuff
Kudos keep it up 👏👏
@@-dtuyhnjhggvjjjn Thank you! :)
It’s nice to know they brought back the Golden Gate Bridge for San Fransokyo Square! And that bridge features a mini-earthquake vibration!
It’s kinda cool it’s back!
Love that the letters and train were donated!
Me too!
Whenever I go to Sacramento I’m definitely gonna go check out the old DCA California letters
@@JonathanGaeta Me too!
Can we see the letters in all their glory still at the expo?
@@grantwarren5214 Yes!
In the early days of DCA it was not a park in which to spend a day and waste the cost of admission. It was great for a park hopper ticket (or annual pass), though. But it did have character due to the things you mention and more. Today it's just a collection of Disney IPs, and I'm not really sure what they're trying to evoke. But it is a way more fun place to be, and it is a place in which you could spend the day and night. It's too bad that to make it somewhat worth the ticket price they took away the things that made it unique and kinda cool
I agree, you couldn’t really spend a whole day there!
I remember sunshine plaza when I was little, I went to Disneyland a lot since my grandma worked there. Seeing videos and pictures or show it looked brings waves of nostalgia, I was a little bummed when they remodeled to Buena Vista street but now I can’t really imagine it being anything else. Also, I had no idea about the remaining red Golden Gate Bridge pieces that were left over on the Monorail track. I only ever ride it from Downtown Disney to Tomorrowland, now I gotta ride it back to see those pieces again after all these years
It’s really neat knowing the Golden Gate Bridge is still there!
I went for DCAs opening year and I was 12 years old. And even then I remember thinking, gosh, I've heard the same area music at least 5 times in one day. I started noticing the lack of .... Disney in the park. Still had a great time, can't beat shiny new Disney.
Yeah, I remember not being the biggest fan of it as a kid.
awesome video as always! my favorite part of Buena Vista street is definitely the Oswald Tires gift shop, mostly because i absolutely love Oswald the Lucky Rabbit 😁
Love that place, especially when I was going through my Epic Mickey phase!
@@FM7Studios AWESOME! 😁
Don’t forget the Sunshine Plaza bathrooms in BVS, they are still DCA 1.0. At least the guys is, can’t speak of the women’s.
Oh wow I didn’t know that!
I like going on the Monorail for this exact reason!
Omg this is so interesting! I love to see how the theme parks have changed over the years!
It really is neat on how much the parks have changed!
@@FM7Studios yeah! I love these facts and I can’t wait to go on the monorail to try to catch a glimpse of the original bridge😁
I feel sad to see a replica of my city’s icon go away…*cries*
It’s still there…. Kinda! 🤷♂️
At this point, it's not California adventure it's disney IP adventure
Wait, your telling me Guardians of The Galaxy has nothing to do with California? 😱
@@FM7StudiosI think Avengers Campus is Californian, the Tower is Multiversal
Amen!
Yes 🙌 I like 👍 Sunshine Plaza
Miss: Sunshine Plaza Murals & GGate Bridge, CALIFORNIA sign, Tortilla Factory, Sourdough Bread Samples, Wave, TWILIGHT ZONE TOWER OF TERROR, Maliboomer
Don’t Miss: Golden Dreams with Whoopi Goldberg as Calafia (awful), Superstar Limo, Bugs Land
I really miss Tower of Terror, love Guardians nonetheless!
I was too young to experience and remember sunshine Plaza and I think it looks nice from afar, but it’s not Disney. But I have visited the California letters at Cal Expo, and when they were still in California adventure but I barely remember it and probably would’ve forgotten about it if it wasn’t for a picture I have
That’s so awesome you got to visit the letters!
Great video, love the channel & love hearing about Disneyland history.
Keep up the good work 👍🏽
Thank you so much!
Yw.
I’ve watched a bunch of your videos from my living room tv but this is the first time I leave a comment.
Like I said man great content, Disneyland has so much history and people need to know about these things that they’ve probably walked past 100 times.
@@thewolfpacktoyreview It is amazing how much history the parks have, also thanks again for the support!
I’m probably the only person who misses the giant California letters
@@Quartermaster323 I do too!
I remember going to DCA in its early days when it first opened so I remember much of the original entrance. I actually liked the bridge and the giant letters, but I also felt the concept of DCA made no sense. Why do we need a theme park that celebrates California in California? Theme switching themes makes sense, but its a shame we lost a lot of the earl elements of the park. Really the only thing left semi unchanged is the board walk and Hollywood Blvd.
A lot has definitely changed in the past couple of years!
I miss the giant sun sculpture feature!
I still remember the Golden Gate Bridge. I think I have a picture of it. Including the Hollywood pictures sign.
I have a lot of memories of the Golden Gate Bridge, though it was kinda neat with the monorail running through it!
I miss the way it used to look and feel
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey
I will be at Disneyland soon for my March 31st birthday 😊.
I hate Mansion is closed 😢.
I remember those spelling of
California and I miss that they should had it. It was fun to take a pic. I miss the old DCA. I honestly have nkt been since the pandemic and since i am not a AP holder pissed of thinking about it smh. But since I can hardly only afford Disneyland I only do Disneyland. I don't care for marvel i live batman. I can only now bc of not being a AP or they make it hard to a key holder smh especially the top key bc i need the one with no block out. Bc i can only do Disneyland on the weekends. But now i can only go to Disneyland in month of March and October bc I love the Halloween time . ❤❤❤❤
#DisneyDiva
Well at least your going to the original park, (Disneyland will always be better!) 😉
To make CA adventure more realistic they will implement the shoplifting adventure park, the homeless encounter, and the gangland cruise ride…
Oh my 😅
My brother 👦 Jonah prefers the original entrance of DCA and Sunshine Plaza
I’m glad he enjoyed it!
So sad to see the original entrance gone........ Grew up in Southern California and first went to Disneyland in 1958 - Favorite childhood memory. In 2001 after California Adventure opened I took friend from back east( Never been to Disneyland) and was curious to see new California Adventure. The Entrance to California was "Perfect" ........... As You were approaching the entrance You see the Golden Gate Bridge and then You hear Music ( Beach Boy's as in Surfer Girl ) and then upon entering You look down the walkway to this Huge Sunburst of a sun. Yes I said to "Myself" ....... This Is California ! Now the Entrance is nothing special - just more gift shops. We now have the new Woke Money Gruber's ............
Great video again! 😁
Thank you!
They should call it Pixar-Land.
They should just rename it at this point to pixar marvel adventure
0:49 when did they remove the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 and the giant letters from Disney California adventure?
Sometime in 2011.
@@FM7Studios 👌🏻 plus, I recently got a chance to revisit Disney California adventure in 3 years with my family, after over two decades as my first visit from my childhood.
@@nathancruz9172 Awesome, how did you like it?
Removing an entrance with character and imagination makes no sense. Then again, they did that with Pleasure Island, the Disneyland Hotel, and countless other Disney properties. Why would anyone choose dull and generic over colorful and fun?
Sunshine Plaza definitely had a lot of color!
I been to Buena Vista Street
Do you like it?
Yes 🙌
@@eliassmeke3991 Glad to hear that!
there's real Buena Vista street in Los Angels California
That’s so awesome!
Disney More Stuff Adventure
That should be the new park name!
im waiting
Only 11 more days!
DCA 2001 is a reminder that the Disney Co of the past, even before it had become poisoned by today's politics, still could do quite ridiculous or misguided things. Moreover, Tokyo in 2001 getting DisneySea while Anaheim got stuck with DCA added insult to injury. Not helped by the fact that a version of DisneySea was originally planned for Long Beach several miles to the north of Anaheim. The Disney Co will never down DCA, which, hardly surprising, is a Disney theme park that has one of the lower annual attendance figures than other Disney parks do.
It makes DCA look even worse considering Disney Sea opened the same here.
