Definitely gotta get a scales and modes breakdowns of MIDIs. Peter "MegaSphere" Lawrence alone and all his various intentionally challenges on a production end (so he said) by picking weird keys and scales/modes.
I do know of two Stuart Rynn MIDIs with key changes, if they have any. First is Moonwalk from Ancient Aliens, the other is Birdsong from Interception, Back to Saturn X E2 and Ancient Aliens!
I remember making a MIDI remix of Freestyle's Don't Stop the Rock that actually had a key change near the end. I used it for a Doom WAD that I ultimately abandoned and decided not to release.
As much as I love so many of Mark Klem's tracks, I feel that Treasures in the Dark can never be unseated as my favorite in some respects. I feel that because there's this Key Change to the brass section as some sort finale is incredibly earned though, like it's been building toward it the whole time, even if you never knew it was. Also, on your section about Core, where you showed a hypothetical example: I don't know how much work this would be to actually do, and it would likely be niche, but I think it would be cool to actually have an example of that hypothetical version of the track to listen to.
Holy shit, how did I miss this??? (I made the song at 4:56) I was literally thinking recently that it'd be cool if one of my midis somehow got featured on this channel but I didn't expect it to actually happen (or if it did happen, only after Perdition's Gate Resurgence got released, as I made a couple tracks for that). Thank you for featuring one of my midis! Your channel was on my mind when I made some of my recent songs featuring time signature changes, and the bespoke MAP01 music for my Plutonia megawad which uses just 2 chords in the chorus :) I feel like I've used a minor third key change in more of my songs but I can't remember which, or if I even finished/released any of them :P
Hi there! You're welcome. I saw a post of yours sometime ago Doomworld with a link all your MIDIs and decided to give 'em a listen. Your tracks are fantastic! Static Motion turned out to be perfect for this particular video, and I'm definitely on the lookout for more tracks to discuss in future videos
Phew, I am glad I am not the only one with the MUS > MID conversions that look terrible in notation software. Like, I extracted the MUS files from the original Doom WADs and converted them to MID and then imported them into a program called Musicator Win (anyone remember that?), and it looks terrible. Always wished I had a full set of Doom MIDIs that actually looked great in notation software. Anyway, side track: Great video!
a Phobos Amphitheater video dropped! :) I like a lot of these "Sun Rider", "Static Motion" songs, thanks for pointing out the key changes, it's neat to learn/hear/see these
You earned your sub ! It's so great that we're having doom midi tubers these days. Btw is there any link or release for your midis ? I especially like the intro one !
Thank you very much, and welcome to the channel! :) I don't think I've posted a link to my own MIDIs on this channel, but here they are for download on Dropbox: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/nfan90thcxbggsmt9gf7i/ABEuRJ5j8Rs8MJkiSCujUGk?rlkey=uh6vfrc7qpha7cye7k4278475&st=hjzwiaba&dl=1
Xit Vono! It’s an honor to see you here. That’s another track that slipped my mind, but true, it does change keys at different points. I’m definitely saving that one for a follow-up video to this one later on
A lot of this stuff goes over my head. I can hear the key changes, but cannot identify what causes it. The notes are pretty much staying the same, but the sound is different. What's going on? 😅
I think I get where you’re coming from. It’s hard to explain in text like this, but the key changes happen when the emphasis on a certain root note changes to a note of a different pitch. I have a mind to make a separate video about this topic using more MIDIs as examples in the future
*Please ignore the on-screen “correction” at 10:08. C is five semi-tones up from G like I say in the video, not four. Counting is hard

I'm music illiterate so I have no idea what all of this really means but I love watching your videos!

I always love a good E to D# (or any half-step) key change. Really darkens the tone. 😇
I love your content, please keep talking about DOOM MIDIs!

This video satisfied the music nerd and the Doom nerd within me. Thanks for all the content!

Very nice video :).
Thank you!
I think there's one in Plutonia 2's Night Run.
Requiem map04 music seems to be doing multiple key changes.
