    Thanks for showing how it works. Now it is much easier and faster to break in.
    So break the back door glass ( to recuse the noise of shattered glass apply thin coat of jam with plastic film on the top). Then pull that emergency door release from inside ( coat wire hanger works fine) and you in. Make sure you wear gloves and safety glasses.

      Ummmm not likely. You have your choice of where you'd like to locate the manual release button and you can choose to not attach the knob. We usually advise to keep it way low on the door and again it can be hidden...just use some common sense.

    I'm in the UK. I've kinda learned to only keep £1000 of tools in my van and regular security but CCTV and alarms. Having great van security means thieves do thousands of damage to my van itself to break in.
    I'd easily break into this van with a crow bar but would wreck the side door and surrounding panel.

    They could use the exact same method to cut the deadbolt as soon as they try to open the door and see it catching they will cut it. They best thing for van security is internal security (lock boxes, cages, even a big bike chain and lock) everything else is just a deterrent. If they want in they will get in plain and simple.

    • @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871
      @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope...it doesn't work that way. They can't open the door and see the deadbolt to cut it. There is a lip or edge that overlaps the opening preventing it. We agree the best van security is internal and deadbolt locks are just that, they are located inside the doors.

    I'm parked roadside in an RV with only basic liability. I have only one lock and it was tampered with on the weekend. How I didn't see it happen is beyond me. But the same thief showed up a second time and blew his cover. I also know the guy . Now I'm just gonna add a second deadbolt and improve the window security. If they smash the glass they won't get in. I'm small enough to make raised floor sections and lowered ceiling cabinets to make a 6ft tall man feel claustrophobic trying to get in. The same thief has been targeting me and several other people and businesses in the area

    • @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871
      @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry to hear that happened. We always recommend a bulk head barrier to block the rear area from the cab, but on adventure vans, it's a bit more complicated. You can always install inexpensive hasp locks on the lower part of your doors to secure them until you get deadbolts for all doors. Of course, the drawback is entering and exiting the door with the installed deadbolt.
      It's a cheap, quick solution. Last, definitely install 3M shatterproof glass film on windows and a good alarm. Safe Travels to you!

    • @johnscaletta816
      @johnscaletta816 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@prouserprouser9646 When the door shuts there isn't a gap since the doors overlap each other. Additionally, there is no indication of where the lock is installed since Thunderbols can be installed in a variety of locations on the door. Locks should be used in combination with an alarm system so once they start breaking in they have very limited time before they decide to leave because of the sounding alarm. With puck locks thieves know exactly where to cut and it takes just 24 seconds to cut those exterior locks off.

      Great question and here is the answer: most modern vans lock systems disengages after a few minutes to prevent this from happening. If it doesn't it can either be reprogrammed to disengage or we can sell you a simple device that can do it for you. No van that holds tools in the cargo area should have that function in place.

    What happens if the thief defeats the central locking? If they twist the lock barrel on the drivers door twice it’s the same as unlocking the van with the fob. Would it not be better to have this system on a different fob?

    • @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871
      @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We provide that option as we sell a remote control module accessory that comes with 2 fobs, it easily connects to your van's power and connects to the Thunderbolts. It then works independently from your factory remote system.

    • @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871
      @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@conormallon9011 Hi Conor, sorry to hear that happened to you. The fact is some vans are set up to unlock and some are not. To test it we tell people to roll down their front window and then lock their doors. After a few minutes reach in and press the unlock button to see if the doors unlock. If they do then there are two options: 1. Have that function disabled by the dealer if possible or 2. Use one of our Thunderbolt remote control modules and then the Thunderbolt locks will operate independently from the factory locks. If the factory locks are unlocked the Thunderbolts will stay engaged. This is the way we recommend using our locks.

    • @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871
      @thunderboltdeadboltlocks3871  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct which is why these windows have cages on them and there is a bulkhead barrier separating the cab from the cargo area. As far as "peel & steal" the deadbolt can be installed anywhere inside the door or can be surfaced mounted or in any direction meaning vertically at the top of the door and engaging above the door. Some customers install two Thunderbolts in a single door one up high and one low. Additionally, we always recommend complimenting any security locks with a good alarm to deter thieves from continuously trying to break in over a period of time. Thanks for your comments and stay safe!

      We're saying thieves will go for the weak link. If you have a window you need a steel wire cage barrier protecting it like in the video. If you have a puck lock it's a visual target and easy to cut off. Deadbolts in combination with a bulkhead barrier and an alarm are your best bet to secure your tools, cargo, and livelihood.
