In my opinion, the music video is about a good girl who wasn't heard by anyone so she leaned toward despair. Her despair grew and grew until one day she found out the book listen to her talk, figuratively. They started exchanging conversation (Words are all we have. We'll be talking...). And from time to time, it led her into a dark path (Hear you call in the dead of night) when you see in the end she had changed completely different from herself at the beginning.
