Chris, I'm so glad you're doing this group history and I especially enjoy that you're presenting it in sections with different members. We (HOME FRIES) get to follow the birth and growth of the group and learn more about individual members, past and present. And, I especially appreciate the way you guide the interviews without dominating the conversation. Thanks so much!

Had never watched The Sing Off in previous years but that's the channel that was on as I walked thru the living room, heard those first few notes out of y'all's mouths, I backed up, sat down, and knew that y'all would win. Been a Home Fry from that moment on and will always be one.

Chris, these history lessons about Home Free are fantastic. I only found Home Free in January 2021, and I'm from Wales UK, so until you all started talking about the sing off, I'd never heard of it. So glad you took the plunge, otherwise I'd never have found you boys. I now watch and listen to Home Free everyday, you're all awesome. Can't wait for the next installment. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Tim and Austin sound so southern, Country just fit them really I think, they made the group sound country. Tim didn't want to be country, but his soul is country, his sound screams country too. The group is versatile in its sound, but selling themselves as country fits the group, it just works. Adam Chance added in makes it even more so. I agree with Tim on listening to the universe.

My parents and I had watched every year of The Sing-Off, and I knew that you guys were going to be one of my favourite groups of the season just from the opening song. Ring of Fire absolutely sealed it though. That was the song where we knew you had won. Or at least that you should be the ones to win. Any other option just wouldn’t have seemed right and would have made it feel like you were robbed. We fell hard and fast for your group and have followed loyally ever since.

@ 14:13 ~ Chris, you had the same sense I got when I saw that first episode. I remember hearing Nick Lachey
announce, "A country group from Minnesota". I immediately thought No Way! These guys are gone before they
even take the stage. Then the performance; and I was changed by the end. It was Adam. When he kicked out
his leg and shouted, "Come On!" I said, these guys are going to win the whole thing.

I wonder who would y’all had taking over after Chris left. I don’t want to think about that! Also, I can’t believe ya’ll worked 12 hours a day 7 days a week! I guess the producers forgot your voices are your instruments! Lol All I know is I loved y’all from the get-go, and definitely knew after “Ring Of Fire” that y’all had it in the bag! What’s funny is I didn’t become a Home Fry till 2020 because watching the Sing Off I was only a fan of Life is a Highway. I learned the reason why, my favorite tenors are you and Adam. 90% of the country songs I like are written by Home Free members or HF covers.

Another fascinating episode, and a useful reminder that although HF appear so relaxed, they don't just open their mouths and sing. Voices have to be looked after, exercised but never over-strained or overused, kept warm and free of infection. How typical of TV that they thought that Austin could hit insanely high notes all day, without realising the physical. and mental demands. On one of the Home Away from Home videos, one of the crew says that for 30 or 40 minutes before a show, all you hear backstage is the guys warming up. Look after your voice and it will last for lifetime.
It was a shame in a way that no-one raised the subject of Tim's (jokey) flirtation with Jewel during the Sing Off. Austin also seemed rather smitten by her!

    • @ChrisRuppOfficial
      @ChrisRuppOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I love these stories guys! I also find it hard to believe that Austin couldn't grow a beard during the "Sing Off" days because he has an awesome beard now!

You really tore off the curtains on the show with this one🙂 but the show people were correct about setting up your marketing and it has worked really well.

Wonderful series of videos. I hope you guys come down to Iowa and play the Surf Ballroom so that I can see you live. Its a bucket list thing to see you sing in person.

I have watched since sing off but when I found out you started in Mankato had to go back in time. Hope to see you in Oregon this summer.

I don't remember exactly why I started watching The Sing Off that season, maybe it was because I had just watched some stuff about Jewel and wanted to see what the show was about (I was a heavy The Voice fan). I knew in that first episode y'all were miles better than all the other groups and would win it. If y'all hadn't been on it I wouldn't have watched the rest of the season.

For me, it's so funny when they talk about Tim's accent. I'm Northern California born and raised and grew up around people from all parts of the world, hearing accents from all over the globe was normal. My parents were from Texas and we spent a majority of my first 20 summers, weeks at a time, in Texas and nearby states. Texas accents were just part of the background, I hardly ever notice them because they're home for me. I don't even really hear Tim's accent.
Now, Austin's Georgia tones are a totally different matter! Love his voice, his accent, his flirty smile... Let me stop here...

Have thoroughly enjoyed these segments on the history of Home Free. :) Aware that you were stepping away from HF, will there be one covering how Chance was selected to join the group, etc?
